I don't get this. Gon is supposed to be the monster in that episode, not the hero. I know how you can understand him and cheer for him, but to not think it's fucked up and wrong for him to act like that, even agreeing with what he says about Killua (which is really unfair. Killua almost died lots of times cuz of Gon) is pretty telling.

Rob has been the single person in the group who has seemingly hasn't even attempted at understanding what was going on and just looks at everything at face value. I understand wanting a enjoy a show the way you want to but just screaming WILLPOWA and not at all trying to understand what is actually going on is a good way to miss 95% of what is going on. Which is what happened with Rob. The willpower thing is just an easy way for people to bring attention to to show that Rob is doing something stupid. It's not the only problem people have with the way he's doing things. It's just the easiest to call attention to because frankly it's is pretty fucking annoying lol.

I have watched y'all for a while now. And I've seen Rob act the way he does but I never let it bother me.
But this episode is my breaking point.
He is astoundingly clueless when it comes to HxH.
This episode is one of the few that really shows why HunterxHunter is number 4 on MyAnimeList, the plot is so good!!!
We've seen happy and regular passionate Gon all through the series and there has been some foreshadowing about how this kid is dangerous, or what will he do when he gets into a complex situation such as if an enemy shows compassion?
And that is what is happening!
Right now is literally the hardest he's ever been tested and his reaction is not just for hype, it's to show how much the situation is on him mentally!
And for God sake, Killua was trying to prevent him from being rash!
HE IS NOT IN ANY WAY EMOTIONALLY HINDERED. HE CARES ABOUT KITE. HE CARES SOOO MUCH ABOUT GON!
HE LITERALLY WENT INTO HELL WITH GON WHEN HE WAS COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE THAT CAUSED HIM MENTAL BATTLES DUE TO HIS BRO"S THING SO SAYING HE DIDN'T CARE WAS GON GOING TOO FAR.
There is literally no reason for Rob to say that Killua truly doesn't care because anyone with a brain can see that clearly, he does. I have some advice for Rob. If you can't understand that what makes HxH so good isn't just hype and being a cold hearted violent attacker but about the complex plot and realistic behaviors of our growing main characters, then please, do everyone and yourself a favor and stop watching. Rob just hates complicated characters. He acts like he knows everything and tries to predict everything. He predicts some of the easiest stuff and acts like he is on a higher pedestal. He is so stubborn that he actually doesn’t care what the others think when they disagree with him. If a character has more than two emotions throughout the series that isn’t happy and/or angry, he despises them. I love everyone else and they seem like cool, chill dudes, but rob is just annoying. I couldn’t enjoy watching their reaction of season five of breaking bad cause of rob.

I’ve never seen someone misunderstand a character so much like this. Killua has been Gon’s ride or die this entire time and for Gon to say that to him? Gon was fueled by his emotions and Killua was rational because, yes they came to fight but the end goal is for Kite to be healed. And Killua was right in predicting that Komugi was the unpredictable factor in this. If Gon left to fight with the chimera then she would die.

How can you watch over one hundred episodes of this show and not realize how much Killua cares about gon.. gon is like the ONE thing in this world that Killua truly loves and cares about.. the only reason Killua wants gon to calm down is because he cares about gon more than anything and he doesn't want him to kill an innocent girl and hate himself later on

Gon never killed an innocent person before. The only one he killed to this point was that Armadillo Ant. You know, the one who was talking about how he loves to crush people to death and eat them. That arc puts Gon in an extreme situation, and that's what it takes for him to not care who he kills.

I don't really mind Rob's attitude towards Killua so much despite how totally off he is with his take on the character because, hey, that's his opinion. Whatever. But when he agreed strongly with Gon in saying that Killua had it easy because he doesn't care, and with that utter smug face of his, boy was I triggered! This isn't even about opinion anymore, this is just straight up objectively and factually WRONG! For someone who claims to supposedly 'like' Killua, Rob sure seems to always go out of his way to willfully misunderstand the character. So I'm gonna have to call him out on his bullshit! Jerry is guilty of this as well, but it's not to the extent as Rob. See, this is what happens when you pick 'teams' between two best friends who are supposed to be in the same team, with same goals, and who looks after each other --- you tend to put them against each other despite how much the show tells you--- hammers into you ---- that THEY'RE ON THE SAME SIDE. In the end, you lose perspective of the other character and totally miss the point. Sure, they had little 'rivalries' here and there, but they're not really rivals--- they never were; THEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN FRIENDS! The closest to being Gon's rival is actually Hisoka, and Illumi to Killua. Seriously, pay attention.
Now back to this "Killua doesn't care" nonsense that triggers me into commenting this long ass comment. Bro, THAT IS SO WRONG! KILLUA FUCKING CARES! Have you not been paying attention?! All of the evidence we have always point to the objective fact that KILLUA FUCKING CARES! Did you miss those instances when Killua endangers himself for Gon just to save his ass, literally and figuratively? The fact that he stays for and involves himself in this suicide mission --- despite that he does not have anything directly at stake in it --- all for the sake of Gon basically screams how much Killua cares. He could've just leave and not fuck with this mission, but noooo... he actually stays because he cares about Gon and his well-being; and because Gon cares about Kite, Killua cares about that as well because Kite's fate actually matters to Gon. In this arc where Killua seems to have no direct stake (really, why would he care about NGL? East Gorteau? Chimera Ants? He doesn't), Killua works THE HARDEST! He runs around too much, works too hard, because, in his own reality, he has everything at stake --- GON! You know Gon? Oh yeah, he's actually that one kid Killua basically worships, deems as his savior and literally calls as HIS LIGHT! Now keep that in mind.
See, Killua cares about this light so much that he pays very close attention to it, so much so that he is the first person to notice when this light suddenly starts to flicker. Now imagine how Killua must've been feeling when, slowly but surely, this light starts to lose its shine RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS EYES, yet he can't do anything about it --- nay, he doesn't know what to do! And it's not because Killua's dumb --- far from it, in fact; Killua is an overthinker as we are shown time and time again. This overthinking nature coupled with his inexperience in the matter of friendships (note how the show expressly told you that Gon is Killua's first ever friend), add to that his almost non-existent sense of self-worth and hero-worship towards Gon, makes him very insecure in his value in this friendship he has with Gon, which surely manifests in the obvious power imbalance in their relationship. And when I mention 'power imbalance', I don't mean power scaling... I meant intangible influential value (somehow I kinda felt needing to spell that out because Rob might misunderstand given his DBZ-addled mind. P.S. Love DB and DBZ, btw; admittedly it's not what I'd consider a high quality series, but I still love it anyway; not a fave, but still love). Hey, Rob! Remember that time when you bitched about Killua being a bitch when he couldn't say something to Gon because he fears losing his friendship? THAT WAS KILLUA SHOWING HIS INSECURITY! THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WILLPOWER, YA DUMBASS! AND I'M GONNA SHOW YOU WHY KILLUA ACTING THAT WAY MAKES TOTAL SENSE IN CONTEXT AND ENTIRELY FAITHFUL WITH WHAT WE ARE GIVEN SO FAR WITH HIS CHARACTER! Now I imagine you pulling something out of your ass that Killua has to have willpower to overcome his insecurity, and if you do think that then you're really a dumbass because you're not really making an argument because with that logic, EVERYTHING INVOLVES WILLPOWER. Again, you won't be making any argument. What you need to do is step out of that 'willpowah' circle jerk and learn about nuance. But I digress.
Now back to Killua's insecurity. Killua is a very insecure kid. Maybe not in his abilities, but in his worth as a person (and as an extension, in his worth in his friendship with Gon). He believes that between him and Gon, Gon deserves to live more and that he is dispensable (earliest apparent example was when they were being guarded by Nobunaga during the Yorknew arc). There have been many instances before when Killua took dirty matters in his own hands without telling Gon, willingly plunging himself into more dirt, while sparing Gon from it and keeping Gon spotless and untouched by anything corrupt; again, because Killua considers himself dispensable (better damage the disposable one, right?). He finds no value in his self, and the only way he can find value in his self is when he associates himself with Gon, which reinforces his notion that Gon is the light that lights his darkness. This is why he was unable to ask Gon about what he meant with his "let's go, Killua" ---- because he is afraid of what Gon will say, that maybe Gon's words will reinforce his idea of his value or lack thereof, and most of all, he is afraid that if he voices his concerns when Gon is sinking deep in his madness, Gon might break and he might lose Gon completely. He restrains himself from asking for the sake of sparing Gon the pain (because he knows that Gon is already hurting, Gon doesn't need to deal with anything more), but most of all, it was for his own sake. If he doesn't have Gon, then in his mind, he will never really have value. Keep in mind that this is Killua's first ever friendship. He had no contextual precedent with which to create a template from, hence, he is at a loss at what to do. He can overthink all he wants, but by himself he will never find an answer that will satisfy him. So he let's it go as he silently suffers with himself.
But with Killua's insistent silence also comes Gon's further descent. Being the only one to notice, Killua was the only one who could put a stop to this descent, but he felt himself unable to---that he was incapable of doing it---so the madness festers and grows within Gon, slowly consuming him. With Gon's light fading, Killua has to step up and BE THE LIGHT HIMSELF (he becomes this to Ikalgo). With Gon at his lowest point, Killua cannot allow himself to falter. He has to keep his head afloat; he cannot let himself be consumed by his own pain. He needs to pull Gon from the darkness and towards the light. Killua must become Gon's voice of reason. Yet despite Killua's efforts, he just couldn't reach Gon. To see Gon in this self-destructive state while being unable to do anything about it must be breaking Killua apart. Yet he cannot allow himself to break. He has to keep going. That is Killua's subtle struggle.
Now this light, his stake in all of this, the reason for why he's working his ass off in a foreign country he has nothing to do about, the reason why he cares, who incidentally is deep in his desire to inflict vengeance on his hated foe and who ironically cares about nothing else for the moment but to unleash his rage, just told him to basically FUCK OFF! Tells him that he has it easy because HE DOESN'T CARE! And you wholeheartedly agreeing with a kid so deep in his pain and darkness is basically you with your head deep in your ass! Get your head out of your ass for once and actually TRY to pay attention! I can forgive Gon because he is in pain, but you're just being plain dumb. The show wasn't even being subtle at portraying how wrong those words are that in the next scene, we actually see Killua being distraught from Gon's words. Those callous words from Gon cut Killua so deep that he willfully and intentionally left Gon essentially alone with Pitou without saying a word. Those words were just false, objectively and factually! Killua leaving was not him being a bitch about it, it was his own way of trying to contain his hurt so to not burden Gon with them anymore. Had Killua truly not cared, he could've just smacked Gon to the head right there and tell Gon to his face to just chill! But no, he kept to his own and gave Gon his space. That's how Killua was being selfless and thoughtful at that very moment, as opposed Gon's selfishness, hypocrisy, and thoughtlessness. This is the first real rift between their relationship, and it is written so fascinatingly beautiful. You guys are missing all the nuance because you're so focused on Team whatever it's almost unforgivable.
I'm not even going to explain further why episode 116 is Gon at his most hypocritical as that would be another can of worms and would make longer this already long ass post. So I'll just stop here. I must sound like a Gon hater here, but I'm really not. I don't even think I typed anything here that somehow says "I hate Gon", it's just really what's happening with Gon right now. I love Gon and I love, love, love his struggle in this arc (same with Killua). Seriously, the previous things you missed I could forgive, but this one... well... like I said, I was so fucking triggered because while it's subtle, it wasn't hard to miss.

If Killua didn't care he wouldn't be there in the 1st place. Coming from a family that literally deals in lives to befriending a random dude, saving his ass on multiple occasions, reading the situation in a split second and taking Gon to safety when Pitou 1st showed up, guarding Nen-less Gon for a whole month, rolling with the crew for a goal that has literally nothing to do with him except to heal someone who's "close" to Gon. Literally anyone who watched this episode knew that Gon is wrong for saying that shit, except Blockhead willPower dumbass over here..

Listen, I dont wanna be like everyone else here who is hating on Rob kinda harshly. I think we all know where he is coming from. He is just being shallow minded and to be honest there are a lot of small nuances in Killua's character that are hard to get the first watch if your just watching casually for the action. I enjoy those thought provoking moments, like the scene in this episode. Killua is my favorite character and Kurapika is a close second but I like everyone minus hisoka and illumi more than Gon. If you read statements from Togashi himself he says he wrote the characters intentionally that way. All people have a different moral high ground. Some people would kill an evil super villain even if it meant sacrifice a life of a small girl. Some people think that having control of your emotions even though you may be dying inside is proof that you can't possibly care as much as that person did. But remember after they abandoned kite Killua was so guilty and depressed. Gon lifted his spirits and Rob, you are contradicting yourself. If Killua is emotional you say he needs that willpower but if he is calm and acting like a rational human being you say he dont care. Idc if u dont like killua, everyone dont care. But ur criticism gotta be consistent man. And just because someone is angry doesn't mean they get to attempt to destroy someone's self esteem. If you think so I would feel bad for loved ones of yours. No matter how you feel at a certain point in time you are always responsible for your actions.

I wish I could mute Rob for the rest of the videos. He doesn't know anything about good anime, all he knows is DBZ lol I mean, the others sometimes should pay more attention, not just to the fights, but they at least appreciate good moments like Gon's breakdown.
Rob doesn't bring anything to the reaction, that's all there is to it. He just hates on characters and shouts willpower when Gon rages. How is it possible not to be amazed with Killua's character development, and get sad when Gon tells him it doesn't mean anything to him?
