There is a video here on youtube of children activists in Oaxaca a long time ago and they were interviewing an 9 year old who is the target of the police, and the military when they attempted to rape his sister who was 7 but the parents died saving her from that. and joined the city in an all out war in that city, and during his interview a reporter asks aren't you scared they will kill you? he simply says "Que pase lo que tiene que pasar" it translate to "let what needs to happen, happen" hearing it from a child was one of the craziest thing ever.

He basically made a nen deal/restriction just like Kurapika did to strengthen his chains against the spiders, except the deal was much more severe in Gon's case where he sacrificed all his nen and whatever he learned to become a temporary monster. In HxH, nen users can often strengthen their abilities with restrictions but the greater the restriction, the greater the power. It's a double edged sword. Also what Pitou used to attack Gon after he killed her is known as "Nen after death" which is nen that can be directed at the enemy in any way after death if the user feels immense hatred towards that person and in Pitou's case, she's so worried about Gon killing the king/Meruem that "Nen after death" was enabled. The writing in this arc is so beautiful, Togashi shows that Light (Gon) and Dark (Meruem) switch positions and it's amazing. Meruem starts caring for life and starts loving while Gon goes insane and loses his humanity to become a monster.

Pitou was selfless like literally, she was bouta get clapped and all she thought about was king's safety. Her resolve and devotion to king were so strong she literally came back to life just to make sure Gon wouldn't pose danger for Meruem.

This transformation is basically the culmination of gonâs character throughout the entire show. In earlier arcs and throughout this one, gon has been seen to make very childlike, immature decisions based on a juvenile sense of morality. Many characters such as zepile, wing, bisky, etc. have called into question how simple minded he is and how gon doesnât care about right and wrong, but moreso what is important to him (like a child). Togashi purposely made this aspect of his character stand out in the very ADULT ruthless world of hxh. In this arc, we see gon descend into morbid madness, yet he still remains a childlike hope that kite is still alive. When all of this is crushed at pitouâs revelation of kiteâs death, gon loses that childlike innocent thinking, hence that ADULT GON transformation.
EDIT: yes I understand the surface-level nen condition gon put on himself. Iâm talking about the metaphorical depth behind this transformation.
Are you sure thats the explnation? I always thought that it wass clear he used the pact, like Kurapika. In terms of losing his Nen forever he could transform into something he would look like ,when he would have practiced for decades, like Killiua said.
Dude no, he just made a deal with nen. Condition and limitation "If you give me the power to kill pitou (limitation, choosing one specific purpose) I'll give up my nen (Basically his life, without nen no organism can exist. It's also the condition, his life for more power). Besides, this kind of power wouldn't be possible in other nen users, since gon just got the power that he could had had if would have developed his maximum potential, he was destined to have that power, that' s why he became an adult. If you want to give him some meaning that's completely ok, I personally think is genius the depth of the power up, but this wouldn't have been as good as it was without the proper link of this power up with nen's rules. First coherence, then meaning, that's why it's so freaking genius.
@@ey.9329 he did make a pact similar to kurapika but it wasn't to transform or anything like that. It was this "I want the power to kill pitou, whatever that costs i'll pay it". He only transformed because his small body couldn't handle all that power, so it matured his body to the point that it could.

Through the entire anime it's said that Gon can be a "monster", and this is it.
What he does here is a vow/restriction "I don't care if this is the end, so I will use everything" He is trading everything (his potential, his life and nen) in exchange for the enough aura to defeat Pitou. Because it's too much aura for his "child body" his body also matures to an age that can actually take the amount of aura he is gaining.

So for some explanation on some of all this shit that just happened.
1: what Gon did was to use his nen to force his body to evolve to a point where he could beat Pitou. Problem is, that is gonna have a MASSIVE consequence that we yet donât know what is exactly yet.
2: Pitou was already dead as her head had been smashed, but her nen got that death power up and controlled her dead body as a puppet.

Bro, I just found your channel with this video, and it's possibly the best way to get into your reactions, when I see people react to HxH, THIS episode is what brought everything down for me! I watched it for the first time at the start of this year, I ended up binge watching it in 4 days, I saw 130 before work and then the whole day was a mess in excitement! By far the best anime series! Can't wait to see more!

Kite taught Gon to go for the head in their encounter together. So, he kinda just kept putting full power Jajanken blasts on Pitou's dome, and only her dome, for a while.
His nen potential was always said to be incredibly high. What he did was sacrifice all of that for the power to kill Pitou. Pitou was worried about him going after the King, but he literally didn't care about anything but killing Pitou right then and there.
One of Pitou's Nen abilities was to control things with her nen marionette. The same marionette could be used to increase her physical abilities significantly. Since she was worried about Gon killing the King, her ability took over her dead corpse and tried to go for Gon, taking his arm. What a lot of people believe, however, is that Gon intentionally allowed her to take it, since she'd taken Kite's arm in the first encounter.
Yeah that last part makes a lot of sense since gon ended up saying he got to be like kite was. So yeah he let that arm get taken for that reason

I watch a lot of reaction channels, and i gotta say you guys are probably my favorites, the little edits thrown in the middle to comedic effect are fantastic and the way roshi reacts to HxH giving some thought to a series that deserves is great to see

everytime I rewatch the series, this is the episode I look forward to. It is akin to the end of FMA:Brotherhood. Giving up all your power forever for one miracle.

Every reaction to this episode is always about Gon. Nobody talks about how sad and brutal Pitou's death is. I think that's what makes this episode way more harrowing for me than just the tragedy involving Gon.

Seriously, i love this anime, just love seeing other people react to it and comment on this masterpiece. I have nothing to complain on this anime, it tackled the power system comprehensively, it played with our emotions, not everything is black and white, people who are cheerful and naive can succumb to despair. And this shows everything has a price, power does not come naturally, others maybe talented compared to other characters but to attain godlike status, they endured or traded their life, plus it used a complex system to explain power levels that simple will power does not equate to you easily winning, it employs heavy ass strategies at the expense of prolonging an episode which I will never complain. Also an explanation. Essentially, Gon put a limitation on himself that'd he'd give up his life in exchange for getting powerful to defeat Pitou. This power manifested in Gon being aged to pretty much the peak of all the power Gon could ever have, in exchange for his life.
i doubt that this was the "peak" of his power, he only wanted the strength to defeat Pitou. I guess someone like Gon could get close to someone like Netero if he would train for several decades.
