Darkest hour are severely underrated as well as melodic metalcore as a subgenre. I feel like there was definitely a split in the direction of metalcore in the late 2000's. You had the OG Gothenburg influence vs the more popular but also shittier pop-punk influence. This is why I believe for so long people like Gedo have had the wrong understanding of what metalcore is. Really glad you are diving into true metalcore, hope bands like Darkest Hour change your perception of the sub-genre.

Yeah, you had the BFMVs and the like writing terrible ballads, while Darkest Hour and Bleeding Through often got heavier.

You're right thats the closing song from the album Undoing Ruin. At the end of the song you can hear the same atmospheric melodies as in the previous song which was the begin of the album.
Definitely the better metalcore out there. 😁
