Churchill speach = really inspiring people in a desparate situation

When Lex read Churchill's speech my whole body came up in goosebumps for the duration of the speech. Churchill's ability to Marshall the English language and send it into battle is unparalleled.
Thanks Lex, Churchill stood alone and managed to get his country behind him to face down the fascists when it would've been far easier to give in.

He stood up for what he believed to be true no matter the cost to himself and when proven right did not reproach those who had stood against him, but rather lead by example and immediately committed to the great suffering and sacrifice that would now be required of every citizen to accept, told his people the truth, and trusted in their ability to choose to rise to the call.
It truly was their finest hour.
According to Churchill, the Greeks and the Serbs had the most balls in the war.

Before we praise Churchill, should acknowledge his role is causing massive Bengal famine of 1943 in British India during the WW2. The cost… millions of Indians and Bangladeshis dead of starvation.
I agree it was horrible but we should not acknowledge his role before praising him but after praising him. He took care of his own, he neglected others.
Pedalling that myth again? The Bengal famine was nothing to do with Churchill. It was weather related. He re-directed provisions from Australia to India to help the native population. He was also fighting in a World War and so had his hands tied.

We should agree this is utter lies is what we should agree on. Bengal had a famine, due to the weather, poor farming techniques, due to Japan invading Burma and India getting 90% of it's rice from there. Churchill was racist
he saved the world from nazi germany though. WHen he made a speech persuading Britain to continue the fight against nazism, Germany was in an alliance with the whole soviet empire, and controlled almost the whole of europe, and both sides of the house of commons were saying we had to surrender. But he made his famous "and if we die, wee shall die choking on our own blood" speech and rallied the country around an impossible war.
And I suppose any of your achievements are also to be discounted because you may happen to have a character flaw that most people of your era also have?
