Sounds like the pencil tip did best at audibly notifying the person but which were more tactile in reaponse? I would imaging the bigger ones would drag more and help one feel the puddle.

as someone who uses pencil it’s true. I’ll use it to find puddles and then immediately step in them lol

Make sure the elastic doesn’t get stuck when putting the last tip on. I made that mistake and it took a while to get it out.
Is the Dakota one meant for like snowy regions or something??
Its for outdoor terrain so yes snow, dirt, grass, etc :)
