@@AwesomeNinja1027 Better safe than sorry. Last thing you'd want to do is get pulled over after a day of magnet fishing with a recovered weapon that could be linked to a crime. Or worst case you pull up a real grenade or bomb shell that goes off after you've pulled it from the water. I've seen videos where magnets fishers go downstream from a military base and pull several mortar rounds. Like 10-15lbs of unstable ordinance. They call the cops, bomb squad shows up and demos it. Really cool honestly but also potentially dangerous.

It depends on the material of the sword and the maintence done on the sword before being tossed, the sword could be made from something that doesnt rust much over time, as for the fingerprints they couldve been wiped off if any maintence was donr if not that then they are almost certainly gone after the sword hits the water as the river is constantly running and the splash of the weapon makes when hitting the water would immediatly wash off any finger prints it may had, if not the water then the dirt on the bottom of the river would have, the way they test it now could be a variety of things if the body is still in the morgue they can cross examinate it with the edge of the weapon to find out if ut was the weapon that made the cut but this isnt always a gaurntee, they would then investigate the weapom itself where it came from, the seller and who the seller sold it to

If you guys ever go magnet fishing and find a weapon of any kind like knives swords or guns, it was likely a murder weapon. Also do the police a favor and find a container large enough to keep it, try not to touch it with bare hands, and fill it with water from where you found it. More oxidation to the weapon makes it more and more difficult to figure out in a forensics perspective. I learned it the hard way from a very not so chill detective
