  • Building a good AI in Dragon Age Origins might look complicated at first, but it's really not that difficult. In this video, I will show you how to build a kick-ass warrior AI build, and I even show you my recommendation for each of your warrior companion's to focus on.
    My Alistair, Sten, Oghren will show you how they usually take care of themselves during my playthroughs!

    Great video. One of the great things about Origins is the versatility in builds. Believe it or not, The Warrior Archer can be great in the tank role. Taunt and Scattershot provide all the aggro needed, and Defensive Fire while stacking DEX to the max (pack just enough STR to equip heavy armor) provide survivability. Melee Archer keeps the tank from being interrupted at close range, and having a bow gives the tank flexibility to attach at range when necessary. It's not a DPS machine, but a fun alternative to the tank role.

    The only problem with Sten is that he only gets 1 specialization point (that's a bug btw) so Alistair is better as a tanking warrior and I also came to the realization that corrupted spiders are one of the strongest foes in the game especially if you combine them with genlock emissaries in the "Paragon of her kind" quest.

    Very nice! The tactics menu in Origin is great. My two cent to Berzerk: i set my warrior to activate Berzerk on Nearest Visible Enemy. Because the game deactivates berzerk whenever you switch areas or open/close inventory or skills. This way it won't be on the heavy 60 seconds cooldown when i run into the next enemy group.

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před rokem +7

      Yeah, that can work too. In the Ultimate Edition, however, my companions only activate Berserk when they enter combat, and it instantly de-activates at the end. This is true for all sustainable combat talents actually, Indomitable, Shield Wall etc, even though they are set to "Self - Any" they only activate it at the beginning of combat. Unlike mage spells like Haste or Rock armor because they activate them outside combat too if it is set to "Self - Any". So it basically does the same thing because it does not activate unless there is an enemy around. It does not de-activate either if I open the inventory during combat(at least I have not noticed this).
      So it looks like "Self - Any" does the same thing as "Nearest Visible Enemy" when it comes to Berserk. But this is the Ultimate Edition so I have no idea how this works on a different version. If Berserk indeed activates at any time outside of combat with this tactic, then yes Nearest Visible Enemy is preferable.

    Hey man! I really appreciate what you're doing. Im coming back to DAO trying to have archer build and i got frustrated seting up my team to tank/support each other. Guides online are overly in depth and can confuse and discourage and yours is just great for starters.
    Also i can see the work you had to put to get detailed and stylized shot for every build and character. I bet its tedious, but from viewer perspective it keeps things fresh and entertaining plus shows exactly what were getting when following your suggestions. Coloured text marking specific words is also a great design choice. Nicely done.
    If you care for feedback (i know no one asked for it, its your channel, but as a creator i would love hearing people opinion) i would suggest shorter intro and timestamps for every part of a video. People searching for guides probably look for a single specific thing and having intros longer than 5s might make them look for something else (i admit i almost closed the video myself lol).

      You can have fun with both. Knight Enchanter has great survivability and it can throw out some great spells. I have videos about that spec like the Frost/Fire Crusader or the 5 Knight-Enchanter builds.
      Templars are durable and they can have one of the most potent crowd damage in the game, especially if they are two-handed. I also have a two-handed Templar build on my channel: the Divine Avenger.
      So if you want to use spells and be hard to kill, go for the Knight Enchanter. If you want to be tough, very effective against demons, and deal awesome crowd damage, go for the Templar. :)

  • @johannsebastianmastropiero8636

    Great video as usual, I've beat the game two or three times back then, but always with Rogue or Mage, this may encourage me to try a Warrior and companions. I've always kind of neglected them in favor of more obvious builds. Cunning Rogue is my go-to guy, as my OCD prevents me from ignoring chests and Coup de Grace backstabs are too awesome to pass up, but I guess I may try a Two Hander this time. Sword and Shield always sounded a bit one dimensional, or is there a way to make them more offensive?
    Also, giving Alistair new talents other than sword and shield, if you want to make him a Two Hander, do you have enough points? If not, which abilities do you ignore, or pospone?

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před rokem +3

      You definitely have more than enough points for Alistair. With Sten, you can unlock most of what you need even if he is weapon and shield(two-handed obviously works great since he starts with lots of two-handed skills). Oghren is the only one who generally does not have enough points to be very effective with other weapons(unless you go out of your way to recruit him very early).
      When I go for an aggressive weapon and shield warrior, AI or player, I tend to get the Berserker spec and I stack Strength. I have a build, the Golden Knight which is a very aggressive weapon and shield character. For the AI, Sten's weapon and shield tactics in this video are meant to provide a very aggressive weapon and shield AI. :)

    Hey Hercig!
    Just came a question to my mind. You mentioned before. The the best combo for a warrior was berserker and champion in origins because all their skills counted.
    So i wanna go with this regarding DA2. Which specs for you in the second game made the most sense?
    LIke I for example like to go for the duelist in the first two games cause it gives the rouge some frontal approach.
    But which specs in the second game made for you the most sense???

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před rokem +1

      Most sense in what way?
      I guess the Templar has the most sense in the warrior tree because it pretty much stayed what it was. An anti-mage warrior.
      I never really like the Berserker's willpower stacking in the second game, I preferred the flat bonus you got in the first one.
      The Reaver is actually better in the second game than it was in the first one.
      So if I play as a Champion Berserker in Origins, I would pick the Berserker spec and leave the rest. Champion-like skills can be added from the rest of the talent trees like Rally for example from the Battlemaster tree.

      Dualist is fun, works well for archers and double dagger rogues.
      Force Mage is fun, gives pretty good crowd control. Basically Rift Mage from Inqusition.
      Blood Mage is still insanely overpowered against enemies with blood, and totally useless against enemies without it.
      Spirit Healer turned into one of the best tanks in the game, with excellent healing(support abilities). With damage-returning rings and amulets, you can literally just stand still and watch them kill themselves. Pretty amusing stuff, so I would say, SH is actually better than it was in Origins.

What happens in my games with this setup is, if the enemies are spread out and need some time to approach the group or be approached - Taunt goes into nothing, affecting only a couple of enemies. I usually make him a damager character.
      Stack Strength and nothing else. This makes him bite very hard and pretty much insta-kill anything below Elite Boss ranked enemies with his Overwhelm skill.
      I usually set up his tactics like this:
      Self - Being attacked by melee attack: Dread Howl
      Enemy - Rank - Boss or higher: Overwhelm
      Enemy - Rank - Elite or higher: Shred
      (If I play with a squishy character)Enemy - Attacking main character: Charge
      (If I play with a though melee character)Enemy - Attacking Morrigan(or Wynne): Charge
      (If I play with a non-mage character)Enemy - Target of main character: Growl
      Basically if he is being attacked in melee, he stuns the group. If there is a boss, he instantly pins them down and starts killing them(with high STR almost every single boss gets killed instantly, but he can only Overwhelm humanoids). Elite enemies get nice damage from Shred(basically an auto crit with continuous bleed dmg). If I'm with a mage and someone is bothering me, he knocks them down with Charge. If I'm a non-mage who does not need help against melee enemies, he knocks down whoever attacks Morrigan or Wynne. If I use melee weapons or archery he lowers my target's defense with Growl.
