Roxy Music was my favorite band of the 1970's We saw them, maybe 6 or 7 times at various points across the country. The cover of the first album was what drew me to them. It was one of those deals where I just had to check this out. Jerry Hall was featured on the cover of Siren before she was well known, or infamous, I guess. Anyway, thanks for the vid, see you next Sunday.
So true with Roxy music. Most people love early Roxy, I’m a rare case but then that seems to be me in a lot of different things. It is great when a record can have that kind of effect on you, that is what I love about music, you described the passion we all love
Very cool albums! I want that Dust album! Ha ha. I got to make my way to Radio Wasteland more often. He always has great albums there! I hope you can track down some of the RSD albums you wanted!
He just got in some killer stuff Michael. Did you see his video of used albums on Friday. Killer stuff, really incredible. You can ask Jim, I really debated on that Dust because I know you were interested. There was a lot of guilt with that purchase but not enough to make me not buy it lol. It really was pretty amazing. Wish I had tried them earlier
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 I’ll have to watch that video.
Hi Steve, It was nice to see your mom in the intro! I bought that Dust record in the early 70's, still have it. You've had a very busy last couple of months, with a new job to boot, and you keep the Sunday morning videos coming, thank you.
Ralph, doing the Sunday videos I pure pleasure for me. I now have my stereo hooked up in my kids basement and am finally playing the new music that I have bought. Yes, it was wonderful to include my mother. Not many get on YT at age 95 for the first time lol
Cool introduction😁 and thanks for sharing another collection
I like doing the intros with something from my life especially travels and always have to have my grandson. My videos are also soemthing I can look back at in regards to moments in my life
Hello Steve; Nice coffee mug. Pink Floyd live in Montreux 1970, good sound. Gary Bartz, uptempo Jazz. Dust, Chasin' Ladies. DMZ BossTown Punk. Pale Saints with a " Kat" on the cover, psych pop. Roxy Music, Stranded. Rockin Dopsie, classic Zydeco. Good vinyl finds.Take care, Tina & Pat!!~
Kat picked out the cover with the cat, seemed to appeal to him. Finally ran out of Sunday Shows. Now it’s time to go live.
Nice to see the DMZ pick up Steve. I got a chance to play a few songs with Jeff Conolly when I did a few gigs with The Fools. He is a super talented guy who has a million stories about gigging with just about every prominent Boston musician. I guess that you can say that he has been around the block of rock. Interesting selections Steve. Did you like the selections from this year's RSD?
Rob/Boston
Rob, RSD selections were okay but there was nothing that got me super excited. Someone suggested DMZ, very cool it was preludes
Great seeing your mum Steve. Sweet 👍. My compliments to her raising a quality person.
Thanks for the heads up on the live Floyd set. I passed on it at my local for something else for the same reasoning you had😊. It's back on the list 🎉 I was worried how it would sound. That's some flat earth out there driving huh. Hypnotized
lol, yeah there are a lot of very flat spots in the Midwest Greg lol. That Floyd album is terrific, well worth getting my friend
God bless your Mom! I gotta say, Steve, that is dedication. Recording two months worth of Sunday Morning Show videos in advance. Impressive! I know I'm not alone in looking forward to seeing you start recording in your new home. I'm kind of on the same page as you about Roxy Music. I may add a few albums to the collection but they aren't as important to me. That Pink Floyd boot sounded great. I hope you, Patty and Kat are starting to settle after moving across the country. Hopefully by this point you've got your stereo set up. 🤞
It has been pretty stressful, big changes and I’m not as young anymore lol. The Floyd boot is excellent, you can’t go wrong with it. It was fun to have my mom help. I said I will only give her two words. Young looking 95 year old Bill
Your mum looks like a real character. And still driving! At least the road was straight! Some great records. And yet another shoegaze. I noticed Ride's Nowhere behind you. I just bought that reissue to add to my growing shoegaze collection. I like Stranded but the first two Roxy albums with Eno are my favourites. I thought you'd already moved into your new pad, but I hope you are settling in OK now. Cheers, Steve
They deliver the our stuff Thursday, then the real chaos begins. I got out of order on these Sunday shows so I showed Ride already. I have some brand new shoegaze albums to show now Andy. My ma is pretty amazing for her age!
Hey Steve! Nice grab on the Dust album I found a copy at Satellite awhile back 🔥
DMZ sounds good someone else just showed that……
I’ve also been a casual fan of Roxy Music not high on my priority list but interesting listen every time
Take care Brian ☮️
Brian, you are right, someone else just showed DMZ because I wrote them and told them they beat me to the punch. I can’t remember who it was though. Great album. I was shocked how good Dust was. From the cover I was expecting some type of doom rock. Boy was I wrong. I found what I wanted for RSD, whew. Roxy Music is now something I pull much to listen to, a few albums will be all I need Brian
Steve, oh my, that could be a new amusement park ride. Riding with the elderly. Glad Kat made the journey. He just needed to be close to momma to make the trip. Dust is on the want list. I definitely didn’t know the story of those two guys afterwards. I had seen the Dust cover before but don’t know where. Had to be somewhere in the VC. Look kitty on the cover, I bet Kat suggested that album. Oh yeah Roxy Music stranded has been on the wantlist a long time. Can’t wait for a video from the new place. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Zonkman, quite the journey. Someone said I should have put a clip of Aiden saying oh oh when I said driving with grandma lol. Dust was a surprise, never figured it was blues rock. Maybe it’s early stoner rock Steve? All the stuff is coming this weekend
The Floyd boot sounds good. Usually, I am disappointed with bootlegs. Roxy Music record covers never miss! Cool records, again.
The Floyd boot is incredible, I was amazed by it. Not sure how many Floyd concerts I really need Brian. Same goes with Dark Side, I just got another copy of it, our insanity my friend
I can see the family resemblance in you and your mom's faces, so nice to have your mother nearby. I have Dust's 2nd album, Hard Attack, which is pretty good, need to find that one you showed. DMZ is great, pre Lyres garage beat. Love that Pale Saints album, had it on CD back in the 90s, but got it on vinyl a few years ago, favorite track is Little Hammer. That Roxy album is a good one, Eddie Jobson joined on that album after Eno left, he came from the band Curved Air, a British progressive band from the early 70s. Lots of cool finds this week Steve, I eagerly await the unveiling of your new record room!
I tried a Curve Air album, didn’t like it at all. My mom is pretty amazing and still getting around I watched a documentary on shoegaze and the Pale Saints was recommended. Great album for sure. I figured you would have DMZ, pure Michael Wheel House lol
Great pickups. Your mom looks Great! Pink Floyd pick up. Nice jazz pickup, never heard of Gary. Cosmic jazz? Unrelated ,Did not make RSD as very busy with work. Have a great week my friend.
Well dang that work Flash. Do they not understand this is a national holiday. Should have been given the day off Stuff arrives Thursday
Glad you guys arrived safely to Colorado! Look forward to your next videos. Although I think a video of your ride with your mom might be the most exciting video you could do, Steven the thrill seeker lol!
Haha some others said I should have done that video. Riding with my Ma. She knows where she is going Kendall.
How Sweet🙂 Your mom looks great for 95! (buckle up) Ju Ju Man by Gary Bartz is something you may enjoy. You're Not From Around Here - loved the needle drops. I can't wait to see the railroad yard footage. I'm a casual Roxy Music fan. Take care, Steve
At the last moment I thought I need to do this with my ma! She is amazing what she still does. Very active My record room is a fright, I just can’t wrap my head around what to do. Of course the room is packed with record boxes Moving guys don’t like record boxes Mark.
Love " Stranded" Amazona is about my favorite Roxy Music song. If I buy a PF boot.. I'll stick with the one you showed to guarantee good sound 😊
JT, if you want a boot that is so pristine. Incredible sound and fun to listen to. I did not need another bootleg though lol
Right, I agree on not buying bootlegs. If it's that good, and I love PF.. Might be a good one to pick up eventually. I finally got Ummagumma on a UK pressing, and I don't have the debut ! That should be my next Pink Floyd.
That Dust record is great! Kenny Aaronson also played with Derringer (Derringer live is one of the greatest live lps!) And Billy Squier in his early 80s heyday. He also played with HSAS as well!
Pretty amazing Aaronson was so prolific. I was very happy with that Dust album, it really surprised me Dan.
I first came across DMZ on the 'Live at the Rat' album, which also featured Third Rail, Willie Alexander, The Real Kids, Thundertrain and others. Great live venue comp to rival 'Live at CBGBs', & 'Max's Kansas City'.
I finally got the DMZ album a while back.
Roxy Music's 'For Your Pleasure' is one of my all-time favourite albums. 'Stranded' disappointed me a little at the time, but I do like it.
Dave, you have been into so much different types of music. DMZ was new but I love the Lyres. Another purchase due to all of you commentators I like and have both of those comps you mentioned. The Rat album sounds great
Nice seeing the mom. I guess that flat opening car ride is the Colorado area. I think you'll like it there, though I've heard it's a tad more expensive. I know the houses are as I've looked there. I watched Squaring the Circle about Hipgnosis, the two (and more) Brits that did the Pink Floyd (and other bands) covers. Worth a watch. Bartz sounds interesting.
Tad more expensive in Colorado. Gas is cheaper but everything else is kind of mind blowing high Dave but it is the Mike high city. Dave is that video on Hiognosis on YT? That would be fun to see
Quite a mix this week, Professor! Can't wait to get a room tour in your new place, I know I still need to do mine, too. About Kenny Aaronson from Dust - he played the bassline on "Brother Louie" before he actually joined the band, but he didn't write it; Stories' version was a cover of the original by UK's Hot Chocolate from a few months earlier. Their version is also good, but I prefer the Stories version, always have. Good to hear Kat made the trip without too many issues, and looking forward to your mid-week coverage of your trip! Have a great week, and good luck RSD shopping in the post-market; I didn't do too badly doing all my shopping online this morning! 🙂
Get out, Hot Chocolate did Brother Louie How interesting Yes, how long have I been bugging you on a room tour TC. Still waiting lol.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 I need to do some final fixes, but it should be finally done this weekend...I hope...heh heh...
Nice show. I had the Dust but sold it. Not a blues rock fan. Glad you made it out there ok. I’ll be flying thru Detroit soon heading west. Take care art
Where are you going out west Art? Did you buy all the records in the East?
Flying to Canada and then Alaska for a trip by ship down the coast with train rides and stuff
That is huge on my list to do Art
Hi Steve, Glad you moved without any major issues. Stranded is a great album by Roxy Music but the first two records are even better, we grew up on their magnificence and Roxy influenced so many bands in Blighty. That Dust Lp cover looks like a Throbbing Gristle record but sounds like an inferior Canned Heat on the sample!
Cheers, Paul
I have looked at the Dust cover for over a year and I thought it was some type of metal band. I was very surprised it was blues rock, don’t judge an album by its cover lol. Roxy has never really clicked but I came upon them through Avalon which is so different from the early records.
Gidday Steve. Great info on your records. Dust appeals to me but not available in Australia. Hope you did well with your RSD buys.
I found what I wanted Ken for RSD. Today the truck arrives with our stuff. New record room begins
Hi Unk. Your Mom is 95? Bless her heart. Good to hear that your move went fairly smoothly. That Dust sounds good, the cover art would have thrown me as well. I also dig the vibe on the You're Not Here album... very cool. Rockin' Dopsie is so hard to find. I NEVER see his albums up here. I do see Buckwheat Zydeco and Clifton Chenier though. Maybe Dopsie would be easier to find in Quebec (because of the French) Thanks and have a great week. Cheers!
Rockin Dopsie has a ton of albums pressed in the UK, not many in the states. He was the first zydeco musician I heard and is still my favorite though Clifton is close to him. I like the more traditional music
Steve I LOVE that Gary Bartz record, pretty out there but then gets grounded on the 2nd side. Just spun my copy a few weeks ago. Didn't know VMP did it. Bet it sounds fantastic. Mark Bell (aka Ramone) is quite good actually. Dig him on that Dust lp, the other is good too though a little harder to get I think. Good to see you landed in Denver!
My local store had the other Dust album. My friend Michael drove up from Detroit to see me and buy it. I had done one of my flip videos which I usually do the collectibles and he saw it. He then told me about the group and Jim played the album, I loved it I wasn’t sure about getting the Bartz album but glad I did. Dave wants a copy so I think I will get him one also. Thanks for watching Dom
Hi Steve - Pale Saints were very underrated .. I just read that the guitarist passed away last week. Mother Of Pearl is my favorite song on Stranded. For me , For Your Pleasure is the best Roxy Music album. Busy RSD yesterday .. I was happy to pickup The Lost In Translation soundtrack.
I love Lost in Translation, such a beautiful soundtrack I watched a video on shoegaze and that Pale Saints album was rated I the top 10 David
Glad to see you made it to Denver safely my friend! Besides Twist & Shout record store in Denver, there is a cool little record store called The Bizarre Bazaar in Fort Collins that you may like. I used to go there when they were starting at. Got some great stuff there like XTC. Always enjoy your videos Steve!
When are you moving Todd? The stuff comes tomorrow. My son use to live within walking distance of Twist and Shout so I visited at least once a year
Hey Steve! Was supposed to move to Texas at end of June but I had a stroke in February so we are focusing on my recovery now. Most likely moving at end of the year
End of an era! 2 months of pre-recorded footage is no small feat. I can only hope I make it to 95 - wow!
My mom is pretty amazing, I hope I have those genes in my also Chance. I still have 4 midweek videos in the can. I really was busy before the move haha
No RSD? Glad you found your zydeco
Even missing RSD zydeco can pick your spirits back up Jeff. I did find what I wanted today so I was pretty happy
Hi Steve. Hope you get the rsd you want. I got the Earl Hooker, I was hoping for Captain Beefheart or The Stooges but I didn´t found Them. Awsome Dust. Take care. Jimbo
Jimbo, you changed your channel name! Now I will be confused lol. You did get a blues album so that is a good day for you my friend
Steve. True. Earl Hooker is awsome. I will do a video on rhis chanel this weekend.
Ive seen that Dust album many times. I always assumed it was a metal album too. Ive heard it is pretty good.
Kevin I was shocked when Jim played a sample for my friend Michael. It was pretty darn good stuff
I have actually never found the Bartz so if it hurts yeah send it on lol
I will take care of you with Bartz Dave. I did not find the other album for RSD today though. I will keep looking in my travels.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147It appears that Malfunkshun is a tough one to find for sure.
Steve, I have several Pink Floyd concerts from the 1970's, but I don't think that I have one from Montreux. The Dust album is good and looked in great shape. My mother is only 93, and doesn't deal with stairs too well. Thanks, Chris
My mom is slower now but she gets around Omaha okay Chris. Congratulations on your mother being 93, pretty amazing isn’t it
Missed opportunity, after you revealed that your mother revealed she doesn’t see that well and offers to drive, you could have inserted your grandson saying «oh-oh!» 😂
Btw, that road looked a bit like our «prairy» (‘hede’) on the way out of Skagen. Were you speeding Steeeve? 😄
I had a great RSD yesterday. Almost perfect. Hope you’ll enjoy the journey, I still remember your kind comments last year, spurring my way into the VC.
Oh wow, I love that Pink Floyd artwork 😲
So next time you’ll be talkin’ vinyl from Denver (Aurora)?
Is that the dustring of a newly formed solar system then (another earth)?
Speaking of dust… 😃
Speaking of Denver, hope the vinyl scene is more vibrant than the music scene… I’ve said it before but, not a town with a lot of impact on the history of popular music. But hey, crafy beer! And Cheyene is near by! (Last one was a joke). I hear the airforce puts on a good gig down in Colorado Springs (Spinal Tap reference).
Ha ha, your Quitter cup made me laugh 😄
Pale saint, I can imagine Mike in Leeds sitting up, «there’s a disturbance in the VC…»
Roxy Music is one of those bands I feel obliged to love, have all their CD’s, but never quite manage to throw myself into without reservations. Talking Heads is another (where I’ve become far more positive over the years).
Take care Steve, glad Cat didn’t go all cranky on the journey.
In my first collection I had so many albums because they were considered important and you needed to have them, Roxy was one of them On the plus they also had boobs on the cover. Now I won’t buy many of them, I just never really connected with them. I don’t buy a lot of music before 1980 Morten. There is a lot of good stuff but I don’t have a connection with a lot of it. 1976 forward is where I find my enjoyment, the beginning of punk. I never play Beatles or even Rolling Stones. I like their music but it’s not what I feel like playing Fyi on the driving, I always speed and the idea of Aiden saying oh oh is fantastic lol.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Thank you Steve. Always enjoy your comments. A whole year of them.
Yes, they did have boobs on them! Actually, I DO have one Roxy Music on vinyl! My sister gave me her old copy of Siren when I was a kid. The one with Jerry Hall on the cover
🌊🐠🌊
Bought only 2 albums on RSD
Sisters of Mercy anne the new Neil Young and Horse. Young had new names on all old songs!
Have anybody done that before?
Shall try Pale Saints....
No kidding on Young. I have never heard of that before. Dinner change of the songs at all? That is disappointing. Interesting info
I just came across DMZ on instagram and liked it a lot but but I’m trying to be more selective. My room is a little matchbox and records are starting to infiltrate every corner. But god sire really signed some great punk, I love the look of the label. I saw that dust album once and really liked the cover, thought about picking it up for the ramones connection but figured it wouldn’t be my thing musically. I really liked the sound of that you’re not from around here! I can’t listen to Roxy music, really bums me out
lol, Roxy Music bums you out, that is great. I have to be very selective with that group though many people love them. It just was t my type of music. It’s good to hear you are tying to be selective with your buying. Getting deeply involved with the VC can be extremely expensive and suddenly you have a huge pile of records I have tried to cut back but it’s hard. Thanks for dropping by .
Your cat, your grandson and now your Mom, just when I thought you couldn't get any more shameless in your quest for subscribers. Last week I went on what I thought was a bit of a vinyl jag but I don't think I bought enough records to fill out one of your Sunday videos. You are aware that a lot of people feel the exact opposite way about Roxy Music. They love the early ones and dismiss Avalon as "lounge music." Oh well. Good luck getting your RSD stuff.
lol Joe, whatever it takes my friend I told my mom I would only give her two words. She did great, I think I lost a sub though haha. The records I show have been stacked up for a long time. I have a crate that I put everything I have not shown yet. I average maybe 2 or 3 albums a week with purchase. Since all these were prerecorded I do have a nice batch of stuff to show since moving to Denver. I have yet to visit a store out here though
Your mom looks good for 95. Must be that good Nebraska living.
She is doing really well, no doubt it is the NE vibe!
PF, Montrose!? Take a closer look.
Or is it that you don't know how to pronounce Montreux...? Wanker.
No kidding. When I ever get my records back and unpacked I will take a hard look at it.
aiden is growing like a weed! how big is his collection? did you visit that loop i told u about?
I have three Aiden albums. Now to keep him still though he does like music just maybe not mine haha
