Why Is VMP So Difficult? Is It Worth It? All I Want To Do Is Spend My Credits!!

- All I wanted was to spend my VMP Credit, that is all I wanted to do. Why was it soooo hard to do? Why did i have to go to Redit on line to find out how to do it? Why couldnt i talk with a live person instead of some chat bot? It was such a frustrating experience that makes me question why am i still subscribed to VMP.

This is so frustrating. Customer service in every industry has gone down the crapper! 🚽 The Vinyl record reissue manufacturers/resellers are no exception. They only care about profits. RSD has released The Big Night Soundtrack 2 or 3 times in the last 3 years. I’ve tried 6 times to get a copy that’s not warped and defective and I finally gave up. I’ve never had a good customer service experience with any record manufacturer or VMP type company and I’ve had some incidents that should be considered criminal acts of fraud. This is when the Punk Rock in me rears his head and say F@&!K those reissue companies! I can say that now that I have a storage locker full of records to keep me satisfied 😂. Steve, everyone is going the way of a chat bot which is not the same. People cost money, just use a computer. I get so frustrated with it. Human contact seems to become harder and harder. Recently I was trying to get info from Delta, the bot kept trying to sell me a ticket. I wanted to know how much credit I had. It was so bad finally I kept typing customer service. After about 5 times I got a human, at least I think it was haha

I share your frustration with VMP. For me, the frustration is that virtually every new title that is announced (except the albums of the month), are preorders. That wouldn't be so bad if they didn't take my money immediately upon order instead of when it ships. On top of that, there is usually only a vague "expected date" (eg late summer) that they usually don't meet. The date for the Grateful Dead box has changed three or four times.
I have seen that with the preorders. I have done them and it’s money up front unlike Amazon. Someone else was also totally frustrated with the Dead box set. Aaron, it just shouldn’t be this hard.
Steve this is why you are an Ambassador of the VC! These videos & the info you provide us is just beyond belief. Thanks so much as I’m sure you saved a few of us lots of aggravation.

Love you representing Used Kids Records here in Columbus, OH! I am a frequent flier. Our experiences have been really similar as I've been a member and have built up some credits too and it's always an issue. I have had good luck with their customer service though, but I recognize that might not be for everyone. It seems like VMP has always been on step forward, 2 steps back. They do some really, really great things that I'm so impressed with, and every time I think they're making the next great move forward, they shit the proverbial bed. Cheers Steve
I use to go to Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland frequently for business so I spent a lot of time in all the record stores in those cities. Cincinnati had my favorites. Used Records was great, they cost me some money lol. In the past I have had good luck with their service. This time I could not get answers that I needed especially from a chat bot. I just wanted to talk to someone that was real Alex. I may use that credit on a nice box set and then drop out. I do like their box sets though some seem pretty overpriced
This is so frustrating! The shipping to the great white north means that I have never subscribed, so I should be thankful.
Crazy how expensive shipping is. Recently I tried to order an album that was only available in Canada. After shipping it just wasn’t worth it Brian .
Hi Unk. This seems so convoluted and frustrating to me. I guess that's why I rarely buy on-line and don't enroll in any vinyl member clubs. It's just easier for a guy like me to go to the record shop and sift through the bins. It might be old school, but it's way less aggravating! Thanks for the info. Good luck!

Tina and Pat, at one time I was pretty happy with VMP. It is the only one I ever subscribed to. The fact that my credit would only count for membership price and not sale price obviously upset me. I just can’t find enough albums that I would really need. Honestly, why would I drop $40:for Heart’s Little Queens? I may just use it on a box set and say so long

I'm a member too, Steve. I have usually gone with the ROTM or swapped for something. I didn't take part in this sale. I think the fact that you have credit (and they already have YOUR money) and can't apply it like you normally would for a sale is strictly BS.
They have recently unsettled me with the whole pressing plant issue and funneling off money from VMP to get that going and firing their upper level management. I'm not confident in the company as a whole right now and I am considering dropping it all together myself. I agree with the bands that are "leftover" are probably not for me or anyone else it seems. I may just take a break from it for a while.
Kevin I’m with you. I looked at the furture ROTM and there is nothing that gets me excited. I struggle to even find another record that I want. Time to move on my friend
I've been a member for almost 5 years and have the same frustrations as you. I nearly canceled after my last year ran out but I will definitely cancel once my current sub runs out. I just don't see the value there anymore. More trouble than it's worth in my opinion.
It has become frustrating I just couldn’t believe I could not find a way to talk to a human. Thank god Redit helped

It seems difficult Steve! If you don’t like the records of the month, I’d get out of that club. You can use that money to use at record shows, online, or digging in the stores.
I keep hoping that something good will be offered Michael, so far it has not happened. I have gotten some very good items from them but it’s been awhile. I could not get my address edited out, my bigger concern was my charge card info was showing.

You still wear a watch Steve same as me. You don't see many watches' on the kids anymore. The phone is everything to them nowadays. I'd ban phones for kids until they leave school... Let em' grow up on their own instead of what a phone tells them... Machines are ruining mankind. Were devolving, AI will will make us humans irrelevant Stever. When you do let me know and I'll give you some tips on how to keep the kid interested and make sure it's a fun day for him... He'll always remember fishing trips with Gramps. We are devolving Bobby, just like the old Sci fi movies about helpless societies with out their machines. It’s sad. I have had that watch for 2 or 3 decades. I have more watches that have been given to me but I only ear this one. I feel lost without it lol. Still might be too early for Aiden to fish, he may try to eat the worm haha
So much hassle with all of these online services - it almost seems like a scam, huh? Only one party in these agreements seem to make out - one reason why I never bother (and never bother with credit card programs, etc, because I always seem to lose to the house in the end).

I tried VMP for 3 months, I dropped it this month, I may try it again down the road if it’s still around but just seemed like too much for watch it is. Now knowing about the credit and sale prices that just makes it worse.
Kendall, I just seem to have tapped it out. Also if it is a new preorder album I can’t seem to find a way to use my credit
So frustrating! I ended my subscription a couple of years ago. There have been times when I’ve regretted it. The only items of interest are the box sets. I’d hate to suggest that you waste any more time but a call to the company may be an order. (If that’s even an option). The form of payment should not dictate the price. That is a business practice that’s going to put them into bankruptcy. Sorry, Steve.
I kept trying to find a phone number for VMP. All I got was bots. They are based in Denver, wouldn’t that be fun to walk into their office to ask about this! They have had some great box sets. I need to pick one, spend the credit, and then move on I think Mark
I joined VMP for the Dolly track. Now that it's done, I am no longer on a track. I just don't want most of the titles they have been putting out for the Rock or Country tracks. Oh well.
Brian that has been my issue. They use to have a lot of things I liked but now it really seems to be geared to a younger collection. They need a senior citizen category!
I've used a number of websites with the exact same checkout, literally. I don't know if it's a third party checkout thing or what. In VMPs case it must be set to one "code" only at checkout. It's treating your credits like a code so it's one or the other. Oh and btw I don't know if you are aware but your email and physical address are visible in the video.
I heard that they were, I had not even thought about my address showing. I don’t mind the email as I post that in my video information. I agree with your assessment that it is set to use one or the other like a code. Is it worth still paying for this subscription?

@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 I canceled my Greatful box set right after your video. Last week, VMP said shipping estimate August which changed from June, and when I looked Thursday it changed ‘estimate’ to October ! They did put the money back on my card right away

Bruce, most of their albums are things I have no interest in. I like new music but there choices are too pop for me

wow, two hours online trying to figure out how to order records. Not a good use of your time. Seems like VMP needs to take a hard look in the mirror. I used to be a member but dropped it a while back for various reasons. Good luck with all of it!
Thanks Randy, I think I will be dropping it once I spend all that credit. I did like some of their rap reissues but not enough to go through all this trouble
