- My collection has a cube, the very last cube that has a genre that rarely gets shown. I have decided to highlight it on this thread. Sometimes we just need to reveal those little secret areas of our collection.

I saw you were stuck in a heat dome Mike. Way too early for that. I tried to get into Nyro but it just never worked out for me. Brannigan had some great hits back then, what a voice
Love this one! I’m going to check out your recommendations here. I heard the song Emmylou on the radio and I’m going to look into getting that album. I like Miranda Lambert too. Also like The Beths quite a bit. You didn’t have to post a special episode for my birthday but I’m sure glad you did. Thanks Steve!
OMG the song EmmyLou is so good, it is a favorite. They made EmmyLou cry when they played that for her. I thought everyday was your birthday! I just really try to cater to all of you haha.
This is the first time I have seen this thread. Your mix was interesting, Steve. I do have loads of female artists (if I include female singers fronting a band). I might give it a go sometime. Have a few other plans first though. Cheers

There’s a lot of nice soul peeking out of your racks there, Steve! The Civil Wars album(s) are beautiful. Their voices complemented each other’s perfectly. Wrecking Ball is beautifully produced. “Hey Ladies” Trio - 🥇
Mark I couldn’t agree more with how Civil Wars voices blended so perfectly. It was amazing to hear them sing together. We lost a great group when they broke up. I’m not much into slower music but they knew how to create pure beautify with their voices.
Hi Steve - Wrecking Ball came out of nowhere to be my favorite album of 1995. So many great guests playing with Emmylou & so many great songs. Natalie from Dixie Chicks worked tirelessly to get the " West Memphis 3 " released & her work paid off.
David, I was also blown away by that album, I was not a huge EmmyLou fan yet but this album sealed the deal. Every time I play it I find it so relaxing and enjoyable. It has not aged in my opinion.

If I may suggest a song by First Aid Kit, pull up their song EmmyLou on YT. They have a concert where they performed it for EmmyLou Harris. It brought her to tears it was so beautiful.

I am surviving uprooting my life that was quite comfortable Emma. Trying to get use to Denver but things are falling in place. My other son and his wife just moved here also so it is a dream for me I hope you’re enjoying your summer vacation. Being a teacher is not easy

Totally hear you about pulling records and having to put them back. The best part about putting it back though is you find an album(s) next to it that you forgotten about or just haven't heard in a long time.
Look at that sunshiny thought! You can discover something long forgotten. Still that doesn’t help, I hate putting them away lol.

A few obscure female artists here, for me anyway! But very interesting. I’m an Olivia Newton John (happy to see her!!!) Go Go’s, Bangles, Girls School, Cocktail Slippers, etc…kinda guy! Steve I rarely do a thread, like you I don’t mind doing them but there is only so much time. When I was starting out I did a lot of threads, now when I’m up to it Go. Gos is good along with Bangles but I don’t know Girl School. I’m also not big with country, got one cube but most of these I do really enjoy

I do prefer female country artist to the male when it comes to the music from the last 20 years. A lot of great songs with out that hard Nashville sound that was being used in the 60s and 70s.

Have a couple of those. Not much in to more modern country, but it has it's moments. Kasey Musgraves' Pageant Material is great, but Golden Hour not so much. Didn't try the new one. You did notice the cahoots with Miranda and First Aid Kit to get you to buy their albums? I'm gonna listen to one song you mentioned now. Good late night from here.

I was far more into male vocalists as a cool young dude. But Joan Armatrading, Jill Sobule, Jan Siberry, Amy Correia, Aimee Mann, Beth Hart, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Joni Mitchell, The Beths, The Big Moon, Ramatam, The Beaches, The Muffs, Chrissie Hynde, Bow Wow Wow, Gin Wigmore (great singer) and many more, changed my mind. I've come to the very wise and mature realization that, when it comes to singers, I dig chicks!
lol, I dig chicks even ones that aren’t Dixie haha. We decided to do this topic on our pod cast this week as Jim had less than me. I did have quite a few but % to my total collection was not good I never got into all the folk and soft rock singers, still for the most part I don’t care for them. I guess I’m just a male pig sigh
I’ve only gotten Physical with Olivia Newton John and on occasion I’ll ad a little Grease to that skillet. It’s the chef in me. Wanda Jackson is the best of the lot! The others are nice but Wanda paved the way.
Wanda was special, she could growl but then she went deep country which is what her real love is. I had a variety of OGs of her rockibilly albums but now those have jumped in price

I was going to do a list with just newer artist like Wet Leg and Just Mustard but then I went country as I never ever talk much about it. Nice way to show off some of them. Otherwise I wanted to steer clear of all the obvious choices from the past Lot of great new female singers people don’t know about wanna be Steve

Civil Wars had such incredible harmonies. Kind of sad sounding music but I really was bummed when they broke up. Do you still have a Marie Osmond album?

There are so many great female country singers that have appeared in the last 20 years. Almost all my country purchases have been female singers, I just like their spunk!
Wanda Jackson was at a Punk Rock Bowling fest and I saw her. She was ok.
I think Wanda needed to be seen say 60 years ago I had bought her last album and it was okay but wow her 50s albums are wonderful
I love that Emmylou Harris album. Have you heard the album that she did with Mark Knopler?

Honestly, Professor, what IS it with you and Marie Osmond? LOL! I was stunned to see you had Tanya Tucker (and it's Delta DAWN, not Delta ROSE), her earlier stuff is excellent. But I didn't see any Carrie Underwood, and Trio is not even CLOSE to what Dolly Parton can do. And where's Sylvia? And KD Lang? (OK, KD isn't really country but her early stuff was close to it...). For shame, sir....and no, you DON'T need to pick up any Taylor Swift....you really DON'T.....heh heh...have a great week!
TC, at least I gave Marie a second showing! That’s the kind of guy I am, giving everyone a fair shake. Now I didn’t say I have an extensive collection of female artists so not everyone can be chosen to be in my collection. It’s kind of a big deal to be selected TC.

Mike, the things I find out about you, that hidden side of your collection! You are an onion that I keep peeling back the layers on.
If I hire someone to put away my LPs, they'd alphabetize diff. Stevie Nicks, Go-Go's, Nu Shooz, Nena, Epoxies, Cyndi Lauper, Kate Bush, Natalie Merchant, the Donnas, and Yoko Ono. As aside note, Goodwill took away the record section making it impossible to meet with my friends.

No Brandi Carlile Steve! Shame on you! She is absolute favorite, if you like any of the ones you just showed you’d love her. Also checkout the Highwomen, kind of play on the Highwaymen, they are a lot like the Pistol Annie’s, a supergroup. Looks like I have more I need to send you now.

Hasse, it was all about country. I never talk country because I don’t have a lot so this was my celebration to the genre! Hurray!
I barely have country, and even less female country - just Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. I would have Dolly, but those records are always beat up around here, and I'm not paying real money for that.
I use to be able to find all the old country like Lynn, Wynette and Parton in great shape for under a buck just 10 years ago. Now even those albums have jumped. I do like the modern singers that don’t have all those darn Nashville strings.
Bowie thru a dress on from time to time. But he still had a winky, so that doesn't count.
