Longmont CO is home to Absolute Vinyl. Doug the owner is a very nice guy who loves to talk about music. Prices were fair and i found a few items that i have not been able to find elsewhere. It is well worth a visit, just dont ask for a T Shirt or Business Card.

Hi Steve, fun clip. And i like that hologram idea dancing above a record as it spins. My buddy Kurt Fike used to live in Golden. We'd visit the Coors factory and take the tour for the two free beers at the end. He said in the good old days, visitors were allowed all the beer they could drink. 😂

Funny you mentioned the Coors tour David. My son and I went to Golden to look at a truck. He said the tour is not longer free. Too many college kids were coming in for the free beer. They would do the tour multiple times to get more beer lol! You now have to pay to do it. Still popular to do. Hope the music is keeping you busy

“Sometimes you do things that don’t really make sense”. Truer words have never been spoken. Great to hear that your son got the job in Boulder. Having all the family close must be a dream. Yes, Boulder is trendy and pricey. There’s a nice record store there called Paradise Vinyl which I’ve been to. Next time I’m down there I’ll be sure to check out the place in Longmont. Looking forward to seeing other record stores in the Denver area in future videos. Cheers Steve.

You’ve been finding some great gems lately! I love love love record store tours, especially ones I may never see live! They all have a cool unique vibe! As for collecting, personally, I’ve slowed WAY down the last couple of years. The older I get, the more I realize I can’t listen to it all and I can’t take it with me!!! Ha ha! 😂

Matt, wise words about collecting. How many records do we need? I continue to purge records knowing that I really won’t play it again. This is a newer collecting attitude since the flood when I realized I had too many records, I loved having them but 90% were not going to be played again.

Hi Steve, My local had a copy of that Dark Side in, I had that same thought as yourself! Such a beautiful looking piece of art nearly swayed me, but the £60 price tag eventually made my mind up and I passed. I know what you mean about Talking Heads, funnily enough their varied sound is one of the things I love about them. The first half of Naked especially I love, goes from funk to world music, such a long way from where they started. Have a great week, Steve. Best wishes.

Love it! Very self reflective on that one. Thankfully I haven't been bit by the multiple version bug after 2000+ albums… yet lol. Truthfully I don't have the space for single versions let alone multiple. But hey, I often ask myself when is enough? Answer, of course, has long passed. That said, I love everything I have for one reason or another, and until the great purge -which quite frankly I feel I'm too lazy to do these days as it requires some brutal discipline -I'll probably keep digging the new! Who knows? The future is unwritten. As to, TH "Naked" I've always liked that record and felt it was kind of a return to form. It feels like a companion piece to the Brazilian stuff David Byrne was into at the time, so it fits naturally to me and not a bad way to say goodbye. Certainly not an embarrassment. Again, thanks for sharing! As I said, I love the brutal honesty you share about the hobby. Always makes me smile!

Yeah, I like to question myself a lot Tony, did I really need to have this? I guess we could say that about everything. Purging is sooo hard unless it is part of your DNA. When we were in New Mexico we drove up as far as Pueblo. I was shocked at how run down that beautiful city is. Beautiful architecture in downtown Pueblo. Nice shop. Those Jade Warrior records are so awesome! Very few bands can change radically from album to album and remain in the favor of their fans. Talking Heads is one of those groups. I know you don’t care for them but Radiohead is another. I don’t mind the drastic changes in fact I prefer change over repetition. It’s my musical ADD. According to Michael 45 the only Dark Side of The Moon release we need is the 2003 30th anniversary UK pressing, lacquer cut by Kevin Gray and Doug Sax. I have a copy and it does sound better than my others, even better than the MOFI I just scooped up out of dig #8. You can bet I couldn’t wait to hear them side by side. But wait my others sounded awesome before I got this new one lol. They got our number, Steve. It’s like kid cereal box toys, collect all 9 characters! I agree with the no business cards. It’s a record shop Afterall. Who uses business cards for those. But T-shirts!! You got to be able to rock a T-Shirt. I try to support my local shops by buying T-Shirts. Though in my humble opinion. The only thing more important than a T-Shirt is a great brewery somewhat near a record store. And Mr. Carlson one last thing. Please for the love of God please stop clogging up the suicide hotlines with your not mentioning the correct band or album names. I mean sheesh. How “insensitive”can you be.

lol I will work on it, I just don’t want people jumping off buildings due to my videos haha. I love record store T Shirts. Someone asked me to do a video e, is quite large. My wife keeps telling me to get rid of some of them, she just doesn’t get it! I think when I’m at work she tosses some away !
