Jung Jae-Il was the one who composed the original score to both "Parasite" and "Squid Game". It would awesome to have him in this chat as well, as an important link between this two amazing works.

Whenever I see a new video with Bong Joon Ho in it, I drop everything and watch it. The man is a living legend. He's an excellent writer/director and he never ceases to amaze me with his movies and the way he talks about films and storytelling.

Episode "Gganbu" affected me like no other piece of television ever made. It was so devastating but, in a way, it was so beautiful. After many long, isolating and stale days of Covid, Squid Game was the first time the whole world exerienced a wave of emotion and felt human together again. I think we all needed to see something exciting and fresh and cry a bit together.

오징어 게임의 모든 에피소드는 정말 하나도 놓칠 수 없는 재미와 감동이 있어서 정말 끝내주는 시리즈 중에 하나입니다.
솔직히 한국에서 전세계를 움직일수 있는 이런 스토리와 연출을 할 수 있는 시리즈가 나올거라곤 상상도 못했습니다.
앞으로 계속해서 이런 재미있는 시리즈나 영화가 계속해서 나왔으면 좋겠네요.

Extremely appreciate this interview and the person who came up with the idea for this interview. This opened my eyes about the series and how it came about to be what it is today. The details that were shown were really amazing. This really made me realise how many steps and processes that the director or the creator has to keep in mind when writing and filming. Really grateful for this.

우리나라 영화시장은 20년전하고 비교하면 진짜 놀라울만큼 발전함. 20년전에 우리나라 영화 드라마 모르던사람들도 지금은 해외에서 먼저 좋다고 찾아보고 한국 영화 드라마 최고라고해주고, 유럽 칸에서 미국 아카데미에서 상준다.
두 감독님 작품 다봤습니다 너무 재미있어요 한 번만 보면 아쉬운 영화들 두고두고 두세번 봐야 ㅋㅋㅋ
My two favorite directors! They are seriously true geniuses. I think their ability to stay true to their own voice and imagination, no matter how challenging and obscure, makes their stories all the more resonant and relevant to the viewers. Thank you both for your incredible original vision that lives with me long after your stories have ended.
This interview is about Squid Game but Directior Hwang is a fan of Bong and is still interested in Parasite. He loved the OST and hired the same composer for SG as well.

이런 대화 너무 좋다.. 11:40 이거 천재적인 아이디언데.ㅋㅋㅋ 기발함.. 그리고, 나갔다 다시 들어오는 설정을 통해 메시지 보여주는 감독의 의도는 관객에게 완전하게 전달됨. 명료하고 간결한 구조를 잘 짜서.. 와꾸를 매우 일관성 있고 매우 시각적이고 매우 직관적으로 잘 짜서.. 메시지 또한 명확함. 이제까지 영화들이 스케치 위주였다면, 황동혁 감독은 건축 설계도, 구조도로 영화를 선보였다... 경찰 동생, 깐부 영감, 이정재 관점을 달리하여 보여줘서 측면도, 평면도, 입면도.. 카메라가 여러개 작동하는 ... 것도 좋고. 평소 데스게임을 본 적이 거의 없어서, 저는 정말 재미있게 봤습니다. 메시지도 너무 좋습니다.
오겜의 기훈과 기생충의 기택이 묘하게 닮은 구석이 있다는 생각이 들었었는데 두 감독의 대화를 들어보니 그게 뭐였는지 알 것 같네요. 봉감독의 섬세하면서 호기심 가득한 화술은 참 배우고 싶습니다.

남한산성 정말 좋아합니다. 최고. In my opinion, "The fortress" is his best film.
I liked how much they talked about the casting and the impression/aura that actors give off, its so true and you don't hear that often in america, its always just picking the most popular actor available.
Both of these directors created films that impacted Korea ("Silenced" and "Memories of Murder") and world wide famous films ("Squid Game" and "Parasite")
Silenced had a big impact in Korea. Thank you director Hwang for creating it.

So glad that Bong Joon-ho singled out Park Hae Soo because it's true that he was overlooked in favor of other actors. Even in the description to this video, whoever wrote the text only mentions Jung Ho-yeon, Lee Jung-jae and Oh Young-soo as if the two directors didn't discuss Park as well.
