The Kim family who lives in the semi-basement is poor compared to the wealthy Park family who live in a mansion on a hill. [DON'T READ FURTHER TO AVOID SPOILERS] However they are above the Guk family who live in the basement. Here, in the default view, people have downvoted the negative comments so you are not seeing them first, but the most popular ones.

Andrea. S a fake stone at that it floated in the flood they thought they were being slick gifting a fake they didn’t even have room for. That’s another message of the movie the power of placebos and humans need to find absolutes in everyday common unpredictable life

I think the stone definitely has a symbol, as he focuses on it throughout the movie (it floats in the storm, Kiwoo took it saying it clings to him, it’s used as a weapon and at the end of the movie put into a stream). Bong Joon Ho might have multiple purpose for the symbol but not clearly state them and let us have our own interpretation instead.

OG Guak 420 I read that theory but I don’t think it was fake. If it was hollow/light enough to float, it would be very easy to tell just by holding it. I think it was just resting on something like the table and the water was higher than the table therefore it looked like it was floating.
