  • The aesthetics world has one too many dirty secrets---it’s time those secrets come out. Today, you're going to learn about FAKE board certifications and how seeming "legitimate" aesthetics providers can get away with performing treatments they are unqualified for, by getting fake credentialing. This is more common than you'll want to believe.
    I’m exposing the dark side of the aesthetics industry to educate you on what you need to look out for when getting botox injections, cosmetic fillers, laser treatments, chemical peels, facials, and any other aesthetics treatment that could have potential complications.
    This is part 2 in a 2 part video series.
    Check out part 1 to learn about counterfeit botox, diluted fillers, and other unethical practices being done by many aesthetics providers. • You NEED to know this ...

    My doctor is double board certified in facial plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery. He isn’t a fan of threads and says he sees patients on a weekly basis due to complications and infections. So many med spas are doing threads and injections at discount prices. My doctor takes time examining my facial structure when doing injections and his work is natural and impeccable. Friends of mine that buy bargain priced Botox and fillers at med spas have all had issues and supposedly a well trained nurse did the injections. I’m sure some nurses are trained and do a good job but I’ll stick to a facial plastic surgeon or board certified dermatologist when it comes to my face. Thank you for the useful information! I see Dr. Rajani isn’t trained the way he professes to be which is disappointing 🙄

    GREAT VIDEO! A lot of aestheticians claim to be a Master Aestheticians. First of all, what is a Master Aesthetician? Also, they claim to be board certified in aesthetics. Every time I watch these individuals claiming to have all these certifications, it is really annoying and very alarming.
    My self I had my dermatology studies in France for about 8 years, plus I go to France every year to receive extra updating training in anti-aging procedures and information that is very necessary and useful to apply in my medical profession.

    Our local Lazer clinic was opened by an eye doctor and you guessed it, hired a nurse from the ER. She's giving Lazer treatments who was trained by the eye doctor working on patients after just 9 months of training. I had some treatments there and I can tell you, neither the doctor or nurse could not work the machine properly. Very scary definitely the wild West!! Thank you for helping all of us to navigate 🎉🎉

    I have seen this personally myself. There is an "aesthetics" center in my area and it is run by an ob/gyn that I went to many years ago. She was frankly horrible at her job as an ob/gyn. I'd be willing to bet she has no board certification in the true subspecialties mentioned here, but she does have a beautiful clinic in a posh neighborhood. *Edited to clarify: She is board certified in in ob/gyn.

      Sames..I can’t wait to see Dr Kappel. I’ve never had tbh et I was always scared of Groupons, which was really popular years back. And my dermatologist just did body checks e gave me scripts, etc. She said she did not go to school for Botox, so would never do. I wondered why she didn’t take a course, know because she was being honest. Out et in my travels, I saw many people with droopy brows or really high eyebrows. No, wasn’t worth it.

    Thank you so much for all of this info. Sooo happy I have found your channel, now that I am going down the rabbit hole of facial rejuvenation! In general, it seems that most offices have nurses operating the devices for laser treatments. One of the places I called about Thermage has an "aesthetic clinician" doing the procedure. It sounds like she has experience, but not sure that is a nurse ... is it legit to have someone like that do a Thermage or laser treatment? Should I ask for the doc or is that weird?

Maybe because it dissects some very unethical practices it may seem negative, but thats not on you. I'm an actor, and there's this sort of fear that persists that certain truths might upset people or something like that. Or might turn off our audience, or maybe it's something we think our audience doesnt want to see. But thats rarely the case in reality. Truth always is irrefutable and all there is in reality. Dont ever feel bad about telling the truth, even if its ugly. People arent going to stop listening.

    Hi Dr Stefani! I've been waiting for this post to ask you a question. I've been getting botox for about a year. Once when I got botox, I felt a strange feeling in the outer edge of one of my eyes. I don’t get injections anywhere near my outer eyes. For reference, I get it to soften 11 lines and a tiny bit in my upper forehead to keep it smooth. When you explained migration due to watered down product, I felt so alarmed and remembered when my eye felt funny. I didnt call the office because it went away relatively quickly. I told the injector 3 or 4 months later when I went in for another treatment. She didn't not seem concerned at all. Does this symptom I've mentioned sound like it could be slught migration due to watered down product? I didn't notice any tosis of that eye. Just the funny feeling that lasted for about an hour. Please, do you have any thoughts you can share with me? I really value your opinion as an impressively educated provider in this field.

    • @DrStefaniKappel
      @DrStefaniKappel  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yes it could be migration of the product if it’s watered down. where are you getting the actual injections? ie where is the needle actually injection the skin? the forehead or glabella?

    • @jennifermarie8979
      @jennifermarie8979 Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, she told me that 20 units is recommended for the glabella because my muscles were very strong and I often looked angry due to the crease between my eyes. Also, I got 10 units across the upper portion of my forehead to keep the fine lines from becoming wrinkles. I don't think I should have been feeling anything around the outer edge of my eye. I never considered it could be migration since my eye was fine. Your videos have opened my eyes. I am not going to book with that provider again. I would rather pay more and have someone who is qualified to do it correctly. Thank you so much. Who knows what you may have just saved me from!!!!!!
      🖤🖤

    • @DrStefaniKappel
      @DrStefaniKappel  Před 2 měsíci +6

      @@jennifermarie8979You are correct. Migration from the lateral frontalis muscle (the forehead muscle that is over the brow area could have migrated if watered down. You should ask your provider how they reconstitute their botox- it should be 2cc of preservative free sodium chloride for a 100 unit vial. if not it will migrate for sure. Also you can tell if there is a little nodule where the injection site was that lasts just a few minutes. That’s how you can tell it was NOT watered down ;) hope this helps. @@DrStefaniKappel at some visits I definitely had the little bumps that disappeared on the way home. At other visits, no bumps. I can't remember specifically but I would be willing to bet money that the time that I did not have any bumps following being injected, is the same time that it was reconstitute incorrectly in order for my provider to stretch their product to save money. That really upsets me. What if it would've had a more significant affect on my eye, such as severe drooping and I ended up with one eye sleeping for 3 months, or something even worse?!?!! I would venture say that they probably do not reconstitute the product in the same watery way when they are injecting themselves or their loved ons. I will not be going back there. I really appreciate you answering my question. This is important information that helps me make better decisions when choosing a provider. I want a provider who cares about my outcome more than they care about sneakily improving their bottom line. "Wild wild west" is so true😕
