    Hi my name is Dr. Stefani Kappel and I’m a board certified Dermatologist! I’ve been practicing dermatology for 15 years and have been obsessed with skin my entire life.
    Authenticity and honesty is my priority. Unlike many dermatologists on CZcams I do not accept any paid partnerships. I never have and I never will. Everything I post from skincare to in office procedures are ones that I truly believe in.
    After obtaining my medical degree I completed a residency in a dermatology at UCLA. I took my first job as full time faculty at UCLA as professor of Dermatology.
    It was then my love for teaching expanded and I began to educate thru social media. I post educational videos for my patients and for “skin nerds” like me who want to take their understanding of skin care to the next level.

      Please do not feel bad. I was being told by everyone that "i just have bad luck" and being gaslighted into thinking I was the problem but both these clinics and my friends when I would tell them about all the shady things I've seen going on in these clinics. And with some of the results I got. Lots of people are not meeting up to their social media and google review hype. In fact a lot of them aren't just misrepresenting their skills, but even misrepresenting what their offices look like. @@DrStefaniKappel

      Seriously! I wish I lived closer or she was in the DFW area. My dermatologist isn't the greatest, she didn't address my skin and wrote me off to a laser tech. She couldn't answer my questions accordingly, and I felt cattled. Which happens to be known one of the best in the area.

    After checking credentials, it’s important to me that my doctor matches the aesthetic I believe in. Depends on the look you are going for but in my case, if the doctor looks overdone - I run the other way! Very lucky to have Dr Kappel as my doctor for almost 4 years now!!!!!

    When I first started getting botox 4 years ago, the nurse I saw was still in training. She wasn't quick but she perfected her technique for my face. After moving across the country 2 years ago I still haven't found a doctor that is even close to being as good as she was. Proper training does go a long way.

    • @DrStefaniKappel
      @DrStefaniKappel  Před 11 měsíci +4

      Exactly. That is why I said not to get hung up on if the provider is an MD or a nurse. Also, a nurse that’s been injecting since day one will be a lot better than a nurse from a different specialty is crossing over into aesthetics. I see that a lot too. Just because you were an ICU nurse for 10 years does not mean you’re going to be good with lasers.

    Thank you so so much Dr. Kappel for this extremely eye opening informative very helpful video!!! I’m getting ready to have my first procedure done at 60.. yes 60. I know I’m a little late to the game but I live in the Midwest 😊 where these procedures aren’t that readily available. Here comes the scary part. After watching your great videos & using your skincare I want to have Sculptra injected but I’m terrified. I have an appointment this week. I’m taking notes during this video so I can ask the right questions. Plus, my husband doesn’t want me to have this done so I have to do this behind his back. He’s afraid it’s going to mess up my beautiful face. I don’t think it’s beautiful but I’m glad he does.😊 Maybe I’ll regret it. Hopefully not if I find the right person. Hopefully I will thanks to you. Thanks again. Have a great week.🙌🙌🙌🙌

      Thank you for sharing and nooo it is never too late ;). It is hard enuf dealing with the apprehension of doing a procedure and trusting a provider. Having a spouse or significant other who doesn't support it (I have that problem too :/) adds an extra layer of stress on top of it. You know what to do and what questions to ask and if you do not feel comfortable with the provider then don't be afraid to walk away. Its you face. Best of luck and let us know what happens. ps I love Sculptra and the results it gives ;) Good luck babe!!

She has completed Palomar training courses in the use of multiple lasers, including IPL, 1064 Nd-Yag, 1540 Fractional Erbium, and Q-switched Yag. in my area what ive noticed the most is that most med spas really do push Morpheus RF and they require you to buy 3 sessions prior to the procedure. i feel like because there is not an MD at most of these offices, they cannot offer lasers and so they really push the microneedling/fillers, etc when in reality those may not be the best option. I really dislike the idea of being forced to pay for 3 sessions of something that if you absolutely hate the first one, there is no refund and you are just out the money for the other 2 if you do not choose to keep doing it. i personally am saving up for laser treatments/thermafrax instead of fillers.

    As a nurse practitioner I think it should be a board reportable offense to introduce yourself as a doctor to a patient even if you have a DNP. A lot of patient's really don't understand what an NP even is. Often after I introduce myself as a NP patient's may still either call me a nurse or a doctor, it's a unclear to the lay person what you are, only a small amount of my patient's seem to understand the distinction between nurse, doctor and midlevel. Calling yourself a doctor even if you follow up with "I'm an NP" is too misleading for a patient and is unethical. This topic is debated about on NP forums and most NP's agree with my stance.

    Stefani, can you please share what you know of training and certification through “Aesthetic Medical Educators” - is this reputable? and /or what it means for provides that state they are “physician-trained in the administration of Botox and dermal fillers”?

    • @Lex-rc1gr
      @Lex-rc1gr Před 6 měsíci

      Certifications are kind of trash in my opinion. All that matters is if they finish the residency and fellowship. Anybody can certify anyone they’re not really regulated. A certificate that says that you were trained by a physician doesn’t mean crap either. Because the physician can be any specialty, they don’t had to have done a dermatology residency. Personally, I don’t want to hear you were trying to buy a physician. I want to hear if you are a physician yourself. That’s not to say that there aren’t good nurse, injectors, or PA injectors out there. But if you don’t do a residency or a fellowship as a dermatologist would then you’re not in anyway comparable nor as qualified

    • @DrStefaniKappel

      You can ask how they reconstitute it. It should be 2cc of bacteriostatic water for a 100 unit vial. When they water it down to 10-20cc it not only doesn't last as long but it is hi risk for migrating out of the treatment area.

      I disagree. Any physician who has completed and ACGME accredited fellowship in procedural dermatology has performed thousands and thousands of procedures under intense instruction. He/she is going to be a better provider. This is not true for all dermatologists in general. Some derms don’t get aesthetics training at all. But for fellowship trained dermatologists there is no comparison. Period.

      It is so out of control what people are doing out there. All of these complications are occurring because there is no regulation out there in many states. Melting fat with devices, facial asymmetry from watered down botox, scarring from lasers, over filled faces with migrated filler that wasn't injected properly etc etc etc. A change must occur and I can't just turn my head and look away anymore. That is why I posted this video. I am sorry that happened to you.

    • @TrinityMorningstar
      @TrinityMorningstar Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@DrStefaniKappel I’m happy I found your channel. So after my facial fat got melted, I was devistated because I can’t afford a face life (my face actually started drooping) so I had no choice but to get filler. I went somewhere, and the girl did the part of my cheeks that was the most needed. She did an amazing job I was happy so I booked to get under eyes and a bit more cheek (to honestly make my face look normal) and they switched me out with this other girl, who I had no idea was in training. She ended up doing my lips and I don’t like them. The filler isn’t terrible… but I shouldn’t of paid full price (almost 800 Canadian and I should of been informed) I’m in Canada and this applies here too. I will only be going to a plastic surgeon for any kind of procedure from now on. It’s way to risky. Your definitely making big changes to the cosmetic industry thank you.
