  • Michael gives us a tour of a 1963 Piper Cherokee 235. This might just be one of the best family planes you can buy. High Horsepower, 4 seats and a great useful load! This is also the one of the best paint jobs we've ever seen on an aircraft.
    If you enjoyed this video, you'll love our video on the 235's bigger brother - the Piper Saratoga!

    Regarding the change between bumps to dents on later years, I saw on other videos saying it was to prevent the bumps from getting damaged. It was so easy to damage the bump profile with anything that hit them. The dents do not get damaged as easily.

    I didn't see an answer to your question about what we use in the the states to wash aircraft, I use Aero Cosmetics wash wax, works great on the skin and windows. spray it on wipe into a haze, then a clean micro fiber towel to wipe it off. when you fly through a lot of bugs you just take a wet towel and they come right off. Good video by the way.

      Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to see if I can get myself some. Maybe at Oshkosh 🤔

    The Cherokee 235 is rad, no question. However, you can’t beat a 182 or 206 as a family hauler. An extra door, under wing protection from the sun and elements, probably easier to get in and out of too. This one is nice enough to convince me otherwise though!

      Oh for sure, can’t go past a 206 if you’ve got the cash and need the seats!

      I would NEVER spend $650k+ on a Cessna unless it’s either a Citation, 400/TTx 421, or 441. And a 206 is probably the 2nd last Cessna I’d buy for a penny over 250k. 172 being the first. The 206 is dirt slow for its price point. There’s many aircraft that are significantly faster and better in every way for under $500k. I have a 1984 210 with a TSIO-550 tuned for 350 hp and some other speed mods. I owned a 206 (sucked) and a 182 (pretty decent) prior to this. With me and 3-4 passengers + cargo, my 210 can fly just under 1100 nm, in the mid-high teens using about 16 gph, and with decent winds can do 180-185 KTAS AT ECONOMY CRUISE (65% throttle). Put the throttle to about 85% with the same load and at the same altitude and similar conditions, she’ll do a little over 200 KTAS using around 20 gph! A 206 at with the same parameters will be doing about 140 knots if your lucky.

    Thank you for the video. I own a 1964 Cherokee 235 in the United States. Mine is not as pretty but I still enjoy flying her. Not sure what fresh paint costs in your area but here it is around $18K US dollars.

    Love it, but need more room, what can you recommend?

  • @RobertBlanchard

    Can you sit in the back seat to show the leg space? I hear it’s tight on pre 72 Cherokee.

  • @lawsonstone-jazzandstuff134

    I wish you'd crawled into the rear seat and shown the amount of leg-room, with the front seats in various positions. If a 6 foot pilot is in the front seat, how much leg room does the passenger right behind the pilot seat have? It's odd to have SO much payload capacity and such limited space in which to put it.

    • @DeadstickAdventures
      @DeadstickAdventures  Před rokem

      It’s really not bad at all in the back. Plenty of room for even a 6’ tall passenger. The pilots slide pretty far forward to reach the pedals.

      @@DeadstickAdventures Thanks for the reply. I keep hearing how important it is that in 73 Piper added 5" of legroom, but if the rear seats pre-73 are still usable, that's a lot of nice airplanes out there to choose from.

      Between $100k-160k depending on condition. They’re a great aircraft!

    The airplane has obviously had damage history, and that's why they replaced the rudder and stab with the newer type skins , that's all
