  • My truck isn't big enough for the box it's getting, so I had to do something about it. In this video, my uncle and I weld on the new frame rails as well as fish plates that reinforce the seams.
Are you nuts about this truck? Check out:

I know this is old video but just in case anybody reads this..... If you ever stretch frame rails you should always do a Z Notch instead of straight butt weld. Even with fish plates, Z notch is far stronger and less prone to stress fractures.

Nice work, Trey! Great idea with the fish scales. So your friend got a tan, I see. LOL!

    Hey Trey,
    Awesome work!
Where did you get the frame extension materials?
I have been looking for a while and need to get some. I am in Texas too, so if it is around here, that is even better.
What alloy steel did you use?
    Thanks!

I had to buy some plate and get it bent. Your best bet is to find someone with a parts truck and cut some frame rail out.

Did you preheat and post heat?
      What rod did you use?
Found a donor frame to extend mine.
      Thanks!
Ps..... we need a progress update.

@@dcraigslist5243 No pre or post heating. I just slapped it together with a mig.
I've got more content in the pipeline. Just been busy with work travel lately.
