Eboue indeed had a sensational night vs Barca, probably the best performance in an Arsenal shirt for him. He was good player, felt maybe he lacked the consistency but he was a good servant of the club.
He was injured all the time that was his consistency

Lad had bags of natural talent and a left foot you cant train unfortunately not everyone is physically up to playing professional easily could've gone another way and in 10 years time we could've been comparing him to the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes. Such a shame tbh.

Busquet is one of the great divers of all time. Look at him wrong and he fell down. One of the secrets to Barcas succes, as soon as someone got close to them they fall down and ref always whistles in their favour. Makes it impossible for the opponents.

@@benlowe578 yep but then he lived off that game for the rest of his arsenal career. He would show bits of potential then get injured again. His issue and what makes him overrated is he would hold on to the ball for too long resulting in him being tackled and getting injured.

I remember me and my mates watching this game live and we called Busquets “biscuit” because of how easily he would go down from the softest touch. Really frustrated us that the ref blew his whistle whenever he did that
Wilshere, Bentley, Walcott etc. So many talented English footballers that didn't really fulfil their potential imho. Circumstance and injuries play a big part as well tbf

That Barcelona team were incredible technically, but my God they loved a fall as soon as they got touched. Refs don’t seem to give those fouls as much now but you literally couldn’t touch Barca players back then

And in the reverse busquets would get away with deliberate fouls and not draw clear yellow cards. So because he wasn't being carded he was just permitted to "break up play" by fouling over and over. It's actually sickening. Fernandinho did the same stuff too. They are considered great but really the refs gave them a ridiculous amount of leeway to consistently foul. In not saying they deserve red cards but when you get the yellow appropriately, it changes the way they need to play. Barca was so good they still win overwhelming majority but in big games or cup competitions it can change the number of trophies they got if they drop 1 or 2 more games over that ten year period.

Well like Wilshere said they had Thiago, but that was then cos their midfield was the greatest of all time. Generally there aren’t players on Barcelona or anyone’s 2nd team of Wilshere’s level

@@mikem8211 Well yeah of course he can find another club but he doesn't want to drop down a level. The issue is he could easily get a championship club or play MLS or in India or China or Australia or in the top divisions in Scandinavia or Eastern Europe but no mid to lower level premier league clubs are giving him a job and that's the issue. We will see what happens though. Last season he played in the top division in Denmark so we will see if he stays or moves back to England.

I remember this game vividly. Barcelona battered Arsenal in the first half. I had never seen a top team go to another top teams ground and play them off the park like that. Barca went 2-0 and probably thought the game was done.
If you think about it all busquets has is 4 champions league medals 8 la liga medals 7 copa dels and 3 club world cups and 3 teams of the season awards... no doubt in my my mind he'd chuck it all in for an fa cup and an arsenal player of the season!

Nobody's posted about this one in a while. Seeing Jack back on the air, only this time as a youth coach, was fantastic. It's really a happy ending that's just a new beginning.
We got a glimpse of something very special that night, shame we didn’t get to see more of that Jack… we were totally robbed in that second leg.

I've never heard a player talk about 1 game so much. It didn't mean much in the end anyway as Arsenal got knocked out. Jack Wilshere has lived off that game for the rest of his career and maybe that goal against Norwich.

The second leg was stolen by criminal refereeing. Arsenal may not have won the tournament, but they deserved to go through to the next round.
And they cheated on the second lag RVP was no supposed to get a red card.
Correct! When Arsenal were leading the tie the referee sent RvP off for nothing lol, only then did Barcelona score.

2nd leg was a robbery I agree.. Barca got found out paying a few of the refs a couple months ago.. makes you wonder how much the ref got paid just to sent off V.Persie... never mind the Arsenal game, what about the game vs Chelsea... Barca was a great team no doubt, but against bullying team ( and let me tell you Wilshere really made Arsenal a bully in the mid) they tend to to dive and cheat their way into the game.
Anyway, sad to see Jack can't fulfill his potential, feel sad for him to be out injuries after injuries. Don't blame him for acting out abit because of that. Dele Ali just came out talking about injuries and lack of game time and scrutiny from the media does harm to him mentally. Hope current footballers who are going through the same path find safe outlets to express their feelings
