- Arsenal had to endure a nervy last 10 minutes against Tottenham, but three first-half goals ultimately won them a scrappy North London Derby. But while the numbers might point towards Spurs being a tad unlucky not to get something from the game, Adam Clery explains why Mikel Arteta deserved the slices of luck that fell the Gunners' way.

Hey everyone, Adam here. If you did make it to the end of the video and that idea sounds either FUN or GOOD here is the link.

The whole exploiting Arsenal's weakness piece didn't work out then, eh? Arsenal took their foot off the gas in the second half. Spurs remind me of sideshow Bob from the Simpsons
Fiver chucked .. from a fellow gooner tee hee
'@FourFourTwo : Havertz "Central Attacking Facilitator" go on, you kno it makes sense!
Too many syllables
Would be nice if you put in some metric-values for player height and weight... I thought you used metric in UK, at least for height?
Me and my mates call his position False Kai.
Arteta really learnt from last year to have a plan B. Different matches deserve different strategies
Plan B was an own goal and VDVs bum cheek being offside 😂
@@N17Stu Plan B was exploiting your weakness at set pieces and allowing you to have the ball because you won't create anything of substance as long as we are organized.
@@N17Stuyea and Raya giving away the first goal and Declan rice kicking Ben Davies in the nuts, whilst in the box, was all part of arteta's plan B the guys a genius!!
@@N17Stuwere you trying to celebrate a draw? 😂😂
Naah, plan A just includes sitting back when necessary. We do it all the time but people don't seem to notice.
Havertz needs to be called a "False False 9"
False Box 9
Hey how about False 8.5?
Nah, a “Pocket 9th”
The he is number 9 😊
Havertz is a Roaming Forward.
15 days off for Spurs and 3 games during that time for Arsenal. Arsenal knew this, they were physically not fresh enough, they satback, stayed compact and narrow. They let Spurs playing their football and hurt them with counter-attacks and set-pieces. this can only be done by Arsenal, because they understand just how good their defensive organisations are.
Havertz is a 8.5 - combination of a free 8 and a false nine.
Right now he's even more of a 9,5 - a term used in germany
@@saisojjos5429is there a german word for the 9.5 position?
@@PACrelatonsisthebestramdeuter
Why isn’t it just called a 10?
@@olivercarr3829 because 10s stay behind the forward moving, passing and carrying the ball through the lines but the 9.5 is much more flexible as it requires the player to drift into and take advantage of space
During his Bundesliga days, Kai Havertz was given the nickname “Alleskönner” by the German media.
This term translates to “someone who can do anything.” It highlights his remarkable versatility and ability to excel in multiple positions on the pitch. Whether it’s his tactical flexibility, ball control, or adaptability, Havertz truly lives up to this moniker.
Depending on sources Havertz was listed with a height of 187/188cm in 18/19 while in 23/24 depending on sources he is listed with a height of 193/194cm.
Kid has grown more than 2 inches in the past 5 years and if you watch Bundesliga highlights he moved like a completely different player back then.
Seems a growth spurt at such late age really messed with his reaction time his body movement and first touch.
He never was appreciated at chelsea. Huge mistake letting him go
In the early 2000's there used to be a term called the Free Role. Don't hear it being used much these days, but I think it suits him.
@@MrIkOgNiToFINALLY someone mentions his growth spurts!!! the crazy thing is for folks with these late growth spurts is that its very likely he’s not even done yet! the hormones just keep churning. im just glad he’s got a manager and team that’s willing to be patient with him bc he deserves the time to get his legs under himself and blossom.
Not done yet? He's 24 @@paulinerrr795
Simple, Havertz is Arsenal's Queen, as in chess he can move anywhere
Great suggestion - my favourite so far
Fantastic suggestion I like that. Queen Kai
100%. 1st time commenting on the channel.
I'm in South Africa and we had something similar in our youth football. Someone who would just pop up where he wanted when needed. Occupies the defence attention and is deadly if they don't look after him.
This is 90's football.
So long have i not seen such football.
Perfect 90's classic english defensive shape.
Perfect 90's long ball to the up front.
Perfect 90's defending that forces opponent to go wide.
Perfect 90's full back defending that makes crossing difficult & force opponent's winger to give the ball back via crossing.
Perfect 90's center back that clears the crossing away.
Perfect CM that are defensive minded.
Havertz plays the “vagabond” role.
Kai is like a CADS, Centre Attacking Defensive Striker⚽
Kai Havertz is a space invader
Another important fact regarding Arsenal's defensive set up: Raya is better than any other PL keeper regarding crosses catched. So, not only Arsenal had a defense capable of winning aerial duels and clear the ball, but a keeper proficient in getting out of his line and catching crosses (which is a huge upgrade from Ramsdale).
Huge mistake, though. But other than that, great performance from Raya. His long balls to Havertz were a lifesaver too, when Arsenal needed to get away from their own box due to Spurs pressure.
The thing is as Arseblog police pointed out, if you want to play out from the back with your keeper, mistakes will happen as it did with Alison and Ederson. He's being asked to do this so I accept it's risk reward.
So FourFourTwo, in essence, the secret to beating Tottenham was…4-4-2
i suggest Kai's role is "Nine and three-quarters" - between a 9 and a 10 but leaning more to 10 than 9. And like the platform in Harry Potter his exact location is hard to find - especially for defenders. Given there are a lot of syllables in saying nine and three-quarters I suggest we simplify and just call it "The Harry Potter role". That also references the young wizard's elusiveness on and off a broom.
BTW, Adam, congrats on your consistently brilliant analyses and delivery - the best available in a crowded field ranging from the bland musings of ex-pros on the major broadcasters and the fevered, biased ravings of one-eyed partisans on the fan TV sites (IMO the excellent James B of AFTV is an exception).
Whatever you're being paid isn't enough - please pass my recommendation to your boss at FourFourTwo that you deserve a pay rise.
Good luck in your run - you are a good man.
🥹 thanks Angus
one word to describe Kai Havertz: Raumdeuter
👆what he said 😁
He learns from the creator Müller himself, turned out to be a top signing
sprechen ze English
space invader ftw
HaveProblems or HaveTroubles😂😂😂
It's the best description. And our failure to define the role is precisely why the description fits. Every match requires something different from him.
there is this term in one of the best sports anime, Kuroko no Basket, that define Kuroko as a player that doesn't fit into any positions at all, but his influence on the court is second to none. they called him "幻のシックスマン (Maboroshi no Sixth-Man)", or simply means "The Phantom Sixth-Man". I think Havertz is quite similar to this, let's say he's "The Phantom 9th" or something like that.
Bro, I always dig the way you break it down. You have got a big fan here, bravo!🎉
It’s called the Kai role, one of a kind a I genuinely believe he’s gonna influence so many tall attacking players in the near future
8 goals in the last 11 games. Havertz could well be our 20+ goal striker next season.
Arteta is releasing a new book this year... 'The art of defending'.
arsenal corners are so unbelievably exciting. they really are a physically enormous and threatening team, watching them week in and week out, its easy to overlook that physical aspect.
Havertz is a Raumdeuter - a space finder
It's a game where Arsenal definitely chose the right tactics for the opposition, but it was also quite clear that it wasn't Arsenal's preferred way of playing. It turned out that Arsenal sacrificing their usual strengths to exploit Spurs' weaknesses worked out.
Like how Muller created that Raumdeuter role, Kai is the up and coming version of it.
Havertz role is called Target Manbruyne
Havertista
Havertz is the opposite of a rush goalie a rush forward. He's a striker but he goes where he wants or where he's needed (stolen from AVP)
Love this, love your reviews and of course love Arsenal!
When A Wenger was appointment he was the one who recruited tall players in crucial positions. It seems that Arteta has gone back to that. I wonder if Don Howe left his coaching sessions notes. The way we defend is so Don Howe.
Not Many of us left who remember and respect the great tactician and coach educator Don Howe !
I would say, Havertz plays the 'Non-Flying Striker' position ;-)
4:05 is genius level thinking mate. Wow🤯
Trossard being 132lbs is the most shocking stat I've read today. Crazy that you can be that light at the top level of football. Even Odegaard at 150 is a shock
The stamina though. A 200lbs Saliba type will never be able to run as much. Rice is just a freak.
Haha, I saw that and imagined Vieira to be like 98lbs lmao
@TheRuddboyy
Would have been nice to have seen him get a run out on Sunday. If we hadn't given away a 3-0 lead I guarantee he would have come on as a sub. The last game he played he looked quality on the right as a backup to Saka.
Great content as always, mate. Hats off 👌🏼
Your analysis is always topnotch and very insightful. I really enjoy it.
Please keep up the good work.
Been looking forward to this *rubs hands with glee
Well said, great reconstruction of the game 👍
Arsenal conceding less than any other team is rly precious here, solid defensively and havertz isnt 100 % like bellingham but they are playing "I think" the same way. They support the team and especially the wingers rather than scoring goals.
Amazing analysis as always Adam! 🎉
Well done! Thank you.
Proud to donate to your cause as I really appreciate the analysis on the CZcams channel. It helps make a difference to my autistic perception of my club Arsenal and to football in general when my assessment is aided by data and tactical knowledge instead of the 'eye test' only!
Also appreciate you pushing yourself for such a worthy cause, given your health risks. I cycled 100 miles in a month last year for Prostate Cancer UK which isn't much of a biggy except that I've been struggling with agoraphobia for 6 years so I get it!
Kudos mate!
And well done you. True Courage to Achievement
@@briansmith975 cheers Brian!
Arsenal being compact and still scoring the most goals whilst Ten Hag believes sacrificing defensive form is the only way to be lethal forward
Excellent video Adam.
the average position of O and Hav is slightly misleading - O leads the press in defence but havertz sits higher in attack.
Still pissed off at Raya. Was gonna be a 5 nill job
Need to make errors to ensure overconfidence and arrogance doesn’t creep in. Keeps players focused
@SeanBeatsMapson yep that attempted pass was the definition of arrogance. Hopefully he's learned from it. Raya did really well after the error whereas ramsdale I doubt would've.
Raya had a really good gave.. ONLY one mistake. relax
Best to make your mistakes (and be punished for them) when you're 3 goals up. Cos believe me, you'd be even more pissed if he did that while we were level at Old Trafford.
Injected a little confidence in spurs before they take on our title rivals. 4D chess 😂
Mittelpunkt: the German word for focal point. In the build up they look to play him, and to score they look for him. He is the focal point in all stages of attack
You are seriously a genius analyst😮
Havertz is an inverted false 9 poacher
This actually makes a lot of sense!
Awesome as usual. Love love love Adam. Waiting in Houston on bated breath for my 442 subscription.
Thanks Adam, great analysis as always. As a Gooner I found it very enjoyable 😊
Great analysis - very clear and easy to follow :-)
Brilliant content as always.. Kudos
Good analysis. Fair play!
Great content as always 🎉
Havertz is the tailor. Going beyond patterns to stitch the other shirts together
Wow!
Love the videos! Lets go!
Harvetz is a hybrid of a false 9 and a target man
Love this presentation
The alternative 9 !
Great video as always
He is our "Rush Forward", like a Rush Goalkeeper who moves forward. He rushes backwards. He is our "Rush Forward". :P
Such great content.
wow trossard isnt even THAT short, he’s an average male height, everyone else in the squad is just THAT FREAKIN TALL omg kai havertz looks like a great dane while trossard looks like a little daschund 😭
The TV makes them look small
It's like what Bayern's Muller does but influence is much wider I guess?
Please, please do that hour-long video on Havertz'z heat maps.
Using the Swedish tradition banging words together to make a new word Havertz is clearly a Creativecenterforwardmidfielder
Genius him..harverts the new raumsdeauter
Love the squad weight stats 👍
Kai Havertz, the facilitator
Top analysis as always!!
This may sound boring but if Arsenal win The Prem, a gold medal almost isn’t enough for their set piece coach. I think he’s been so underrated cause growing up I’ve always known Arsenal as that team that always just want to walk the ball into the back of the net. They were usually a side that almost never wanted to win ugly.
These days it’s like they’ve taken a leaf out from the book of teams they absolutely despise like Stoke and used it to their advantage. Not only are they more defensively resilient but Arteta and his set piece coach have found a way to negate the lack of a traditional striker. They now have the most goals from set pieces too. Credit where it’s due to the coaching staff for flipping a weakness into a strength.
Kai is a Position/Movement connoisseur
Clive Palmer has coined the role; "Rush-Forward" for havertz, and it's genius
Arteta's recruitment deserves to be studied. At this point, if he bought back Kim Källström I would trust him. It is mental.
🤣🤣
Name for Havertz position : Shadow Striker
Think it's the most spot on word for his positioning and ability to get into the box amidst the recent form
Great vid
Havertz - Flambadandino. You're welcome
Always thought Havertz was the heir to the Muller role. The Raumdeuter. But feels like he's developing into his own role
Hi Adam, great analysis as always, my suggestion for Kai Havertz role would be Kaiker (rhymes with striker, so why not?) or you could go with Alleskonner, which I believe is how he was know in Germany, which i think means can do anything or does everything.
Havertz is a Shakirista
Havertz is a 17 (9+8) 😂
9 + 8 + ? = goalgangler
Havertz plays in a position we called "Wolf." The player had a position up top, but was encouraged to find space in the build up and wreak havoc in press.
Haavertzer (double a inspiration from Haaland), "is Fernandes playing as a Haavertzer today?" "Bellingham is effective as a Haavertzer"
Double A is not pronounced as a in norwegian and danish though, it's similar to the O in porridge. (Or an å in swedish and the only way to pronounce o in finnish) just like ø isn't an o but similar to the u in murder or i in first.
@@johanhalvarsson2148 Eh, that makes it even more cool imo, so its something like Hoovertz (porridge) 😄
that defensive structure is also indicative of the team thats conceded the least this season...
The word's: a 9 and a half.. although combine in some left 8 work... make it 9.2
It felt so good to give them kids hope 😊 Never in doubt coyg
Good luck m8!
It’s funny how all summer Arsenal fans were saying that Havertz was wasted as a false 9 and his real position was as an 8 only for him to struggle as an 8 but excel as a false 9 for Arsenal
When did fans say that? He is not a midfielder for me and that was a myth. He should only be upfront every match and will be a beast
Did I say that? Pretty sure I've always said he's a classic 10 (second striker), which is basically what a false 9 is except with a partner.
Which imaginary fans wanted Havertz at 8?
@@ps5andstuffhere I heard it a million times. Look at Arsenals announcement of him I guarantee you’ll see it mentioned below. Look at how Arteta tried to use him as an 8 for most of the first half of the season
@@ps5andstuffhere not many Arsenal fans said that, lol, in fact the first one who came out saying that Havertz is an 8 and going to replace Xhaka is The Athletic with their rubbish article also saying that Havertz is the worst transfer of the season. meanwhile EBL, AI, TNT and most Arsenal fans, saying that Havertz is a 9.
I guess this is why Romero kept coming forward
The number 29 role
Cool idea - and so logical!
“Linking Striker” is my positional name for my favorite player, Kai Havertz.
Havertz's roll is called a 'Raumdeuter'
I reckon the role needs to be a "Focal Trequartista" Focal as in the Focal point of attacks and for those that don't know....Trequartista- Trequartistas are creative, goal-minded players who primarily operate in the spaces between midfield and attack.
Or maybe "Advanced Trequartista"
Kai Havertz is inventing a new position: the 8 and 3/4th
Arsenal didn't let Spurs have possession. It wasn't controlled. Arteta said so himself, "We had an issue with the high press. They force you with their structure to be a bit deeper.""
How did spurs end up with more possession then?
Regular Adam!!!
Here is the word you are looking for to describe Hazertz role. Courtesy of Harvey Grayson
Raumdeuter or "space interpreter" is the term that Thomas Müller used to describe his specific position on the field. As a player who is not fast, strong or a good dribbler, he cannot play as a typical midfielder, winger or striker, relying instead on his football intelligence and sense of space
No way Gabriel weighs 172lbs haha
Kai Havertz is Arsenal's Swiss Knife (polyvalence and adaptability)
Adam please do you or anyone else remember Arteta position on the pitch pre Arsenal?
Also with Kai he reminds me of Ruud Gullit. Im that old 🤭
Kai Havertz creating a new position all together.. The 9.5
modern day ramdeuter with aerial superiority, although needs a lot more polishing on clinical finishing
