â@@albertomondy2964Absolutly unbelievalble that he's allowed to be 1 V's 1 with the goal keeper đ€Ł.
ââ@@matt7matt722I couldn't believe it either. He is doing that keeper's distraction in every game and Spurs didn't plan for that in the match.

Shithousery at its finest
*Touching, perhaps caressing. Love Benny Blanco.
the fact that you were able to pull this together so quickly after the match...just amazing. well done
I donât think you can look at xg without looking at the gamestate.
Arsenal looked super comfortable and probably too comfortable before Raya was complacent and made his mistake.
Arsenal hadnât conceded a goal away from home for 10+ hours before conceding 2 in 30 minutes. It was almost as if they thought there was no possible way they could concede 3 in 30 minutes after this run and itâs this attitude I feel almost cost a Arsenal. Luckily, this is a very cheap lesson that will have been learned. Never switch off in the Premier league
Iâd say we have learned this from last season though and no matter how good you are once in a blue moon you will concede when playing out the back via a mistake
Well said bro
Those sweet sweet gunners giving Jim a special birthday win to annoy flav with next week
A key point James missed to the reason for arsenals approach to this game is the context. Spurs have been resting for 15 days with no games and nothing but time to prepare for arsenal. Arsenal had 4 games in that time period with a lightly rotated side. Arteta knew it would be playing into Spurs hands if they played the way Flav wanted. Funny thatâŠ
I also think artetas tactical flexibility wasnât highlighted. We did hang in there a touch but if arteta knows our defensive prowess why not use it? Especially when we know ange struggles to break down low blocks and are poor defending set pieces. So we hit them when where theyâre weakest
what is flav?
I think thereâs such a thing as too long a break between matches. I think if you have a lot of matches in a season then the odd break has a big positive impact but weâll only have 41 games this season and all it does is cause us to lose some sharpness.
I think before the Raya error, Arsenal where in complete control, the Tottenham players looked like they had accepted defeat, Arsenal's attack looked their most dangerous at 0-3 up.
Jim getting battered by the bots đ
This is normally the time of the season where Arsenal would bottle it, but they actually look like they're getting stronger. So, have Arsenal bottled bottling it?
No, we just sold the bottle to your lot. Turns out Man Utd really will buy anything!
They already bottled it, Mac City are 2 points ahead and are guaranteed to win the title.
Tottenham bottled top4.
i mean theyve basically already bottled it. once again hoping for city to drop points when we had it in our hands. theyre playing great and certainly could still pull it off but our best hope for city to drop points was their game against spurs. and if arsenal are thrashing spurs (would have been 3-0 if raya didnt have yet another brain fart - say what you will, and golden glove aside, ramsdale wasnt much worse than raya) then its really kind of looking like theyve already clinched it. still have to keep playing at 100% cuz anything could happen, but having a perfect record against the âtop 6â clubs is meaningless if youre losing to the likes of fulham and west ham, and dropping 6 points against aston villa throughout the season.
@@whateverjustposting I don't understand the term bottling it? Isn't it equivalent to choking? Losing games in December isn't really bottling it, we just hadn't figured out our team yet with Rice and Havertz.
I'm 15 minutes in and basically the point is, "they're tall and value set pieces." Saved you some time.
Arteta has more than 1 tactical approach & is more than happy to use what fits the bill. Unlike a certain other manager in North London.
As a Spurs fan, most of us have been BEGGING Ange to be more flexible, and to prepare for our opponents.....still waiting
A high line merchant đđđ
â@@robinwebster3690Yeah, you lot have been...lol...
Thereâs no secret mate just look at the corners corners corners
The best team in the world has struck again, I love this fucking club đâ€ïžđ„
Arteta joined Arsenal 5 seasons ago. Itâs only in the past couple of seasons that theyâve found that next level up. Itâs been a work in progress. Yet people are writing Postecoglou after one season.
I think Arsenal made two clever tactical plays. Firstly, the corners, two goals from corners today and consistently looked dangerous from them. Secondly by staying narrow defensively and forcing Spurs to go wide and cross it in with no target man in the box.
It was only when Richarlison came on second half, and Romero decided that he was bored of defending đ that Spurs were more threatening from attacks.
I feel like Postecoglou tried to keep it as simple as possible this season. Focusing on mentality without going too in depth with tactics. He has actually said similar in interviews. I believe that next season the tactics will get more focus and then it wonât just be the same repeatedly. Itâs a transitional first season for Spurs under Postecoglou. Arteta wasnât that wow in his first season in the league.
Iâm a Spurs supporter and not as knee jerk as many. I feel like we played ok but made basic mistakes which undone any positive action. I think that Arsenal are a machine under Arteta and have been excellent this season but still have vulnerabilities. But with a couple of signings in the summer like a top left back like Robinson from Fulham and a top striker like Toney then that could really take Arsenal to a level further ahead. I hope not but itâs been a very good job by Arteta living up to his five year plan
As an Arsenal fan I definitely think itâs too early to judge Postecoglu, and to be fair, last season we were saying it was impossible for Spurs to play 4 at the back .. well .. it isnât, Ange put that myth to bed pretty quickly.
That said, there was a throughline between the Arsenal team that Arteta built in his first season to this one, he focused relentlessly on sorting out the defence first. When he bought defenders, he followed that up by buying defenders, and after that he bought defenders, then he bought defenders, then he maybe gave a little look at midfield and attack.
It will be interesting to see if Ange can build upon what heâs started to de-risk his team and make it more capable of performing consistently.
@@miniman2132 I donât think we are that far from the team. We need to fix corners and Vicarioâs ability to deal with crosses. That aside Vicario has been excellent. And our back 4 Iâm more than happy with. We donât concede goals because any of our starting defenders are poor players. We concede due to tactical naivety from set plays and from the lack of defensive support when losing the ball in key areas. Itâs those areas that we need to work on in addition to higher level backups. Davies is generally mr reliable squad player but of course he isnât at the same level as Udogie has shown this season at left back and furthermore heâs not suited to what Ange wants from that position. So Davies is a great club guy but we need to get a more suitable reserve.
In midfield we have some good options but it seems like weâre missing something as we routinely see changes there. I think individually i trust Maddison, Sarr and Bentancur the most but is that a truly balanced midfield?
As for attacking options we need a new striker that has similar attributes to Richarlison but of a higher quality. We need a striker that gives the defence hard time, can hold up the ball and is good in the air. But who?
Iâm looking forward to seeing what we do this transfer window as with signing the right pieces we can get a lot closer to where we ought to be aiming.
Incidentally I think Maddison is either not fully fit or still carrying an injury. Heâs not been at the same level lately so something is up.
We already have a top tier LB in Timber, who tore his ACL 30 minutes into the season. Couple that with Partey's absence...if we had those 2 from Day 1, the table might look different. As good as Jorghino's been, Partey has raised our level dramatically. And without leaky faucet Zinchenko on the left, and with as good as Timber is...wow. Props for the mature analysis and lack of hyperbole.
Just one note. Itâs not exactly Artetaâs 5 years vs Postecogluâs 1. Itâs Artetaâs 5 years vs Postecogluâs 28.
When you bring in a rookie manager, you are allowed some years of coaching development. No one is talking trophies right away.
When you bring in a seasoned coach like Postecoglu, Conte, Mou, you expect a lift in the first season and then trophies or challenges on the more immediate horizon. I think Ange has done well in his first season. But I think he probably wonât be afforded the slow and slumpy runs or finishes outside top-6 that were afforded to Arteta or rookies. I think he will be judged more severely next season.
Man this is so refreshing to hear actual analysis
Imagine if prem clubs are watching this video to stop arsenal set pieces đđ
I know right? Fucking James needs to stop! lol
Arsenal deserved to win, gifted them both of their goals, spurs 1st shot on target was our error.
Vicario might be slightly weak at set pieces but we do NOTHING to support him in that. Heâs top class in everything else and the team let him down with our shite defending of corners
Reminds me a tad of Ramsdale and before that Leno, great at shot stopping but so weak in the box it causes a lot of stupid goals
Height and physicality something we lacked for years
Think you should do a video on your Manager and how good you lot have been since he has come .. very impressed by the style of play ..
Tottenham didnât take a single chance they created so they didnât deserve to win. The set piece success is due to the combination of size and routines designed to take advantage of that height advantage.
Hey James, love your vids
I would love to hear your analysis about how Vincent Kompany has turned around Burnleyâs form, bringing back the likes of Cullen and Muric back to the starting XI
Arteta relied not only in the height of his defensive setup, but on Raya's ability to claim crosses. He is a big upgrade from Ramsdale in that department and I believe that is one of the reasons Arteta wanted him for so long.
Sure, that mistake was abysmal, but otherwise he had a great performance. Accurate long balls to Havertz helped to burn time too when Spurs were cranking up the pressure. Solid GK and he has much room to improve.
love the vid brotherman
So one thing that was pointed out to me (shoutout to Arsecast for this) that you mention is the size of Arsenal. I think Arteta in particular thought that was a need at the end of last season. Zinny just isnât a big dude, and Xhaka was moving on, so he saw that as one place where the club could improve. I really do think the size of our squad (literally) has been a major factor in the burst of set piece goals.
As for Vicario, as an Arsenal fan, I find him quite meh. Better than what they had in old Lloris, but I donât think he has the ceiling to get them where they desire to be.
One thing I noticed yesterday was that when a Tottenham midfielder carried the ball forward into the final third (generally Hojberg in the first half and Bissouma in the second), Odegaard and Havertz stayed either side of the player, with neither engaging them.
It seemed like a conscious effort for them to get in the way either side of that player. Am I reading too much into it, or was that a specific tactic?
What great thing about arsenal is flexibility they have added so much to their attacking prowess they can play possession game and when needed and also high press when needed their compact low block defending also means they can play good counter attacking football if martinelli improves his decision making and football iq a bit more they will be complete football team in europe
Nice analysis man.đ
I agree to a certain degree with your assessment, but IDK why we didn't get to impose ourselves in that reverse fixture against Bayern.
Generally toothless against them at set piece, considering all the opportunities.
Itâs this teamâs first time in the champions league. It was never gonna be a walk in the park.
Germans are tall. Set pieces are a strength for them. Need to play a completely different game... That's why Jesus was more productive up front. That's why Trossard was effective. That's why Spanish teams can beat them.
What are the software/websites that you use for the tactics board and drawings.
Happy birthday!! đ
Top 3 teams for inswinging corners have Basque managers. I'd like a whole video on that now please đ
Incredibly good neutral content
Shoutout to JLAs amazing analysis. Best in the business by far
Much appreciated!
We did to them what teams used to do to us...well played Arteta and coaching staff
Not sure if itâs the influence of your friendship with Flav but this analysis fell a bit short. Basically boiled down to âArsenal parked the bus and had tall players.â I was hoping for more insight into the gameâs tactics.
I love how youâve already posted a video with this title before đ Arteta is constantly evolving and taking this Arsenal team to the next level over and over again. Next season theyâll continue to get even better - Iâm really not sure where the ceiling will be!
A formidable defence, brilliant set pieces, constant pressing, frightening pace and superb technical ability from the likes of Odegaard. Arteta has turned us around completely.
Chris Sutton using your 1 outswinging corner stat on Monday Night Club - does he use James to prepare?
This isnt your Nan's "Sweet sweet gunners".
This is a more mature and seasoned Arsenal team that is full of young players with huge experience for their age.
We are using the lessons of the past to push us forward.
He played deliberately narrow so that maddison wouldn't get on the ball and Tottenham would be forced to play down the wing and put crosses in arteta banked on us stopping the crosses but conceding corners or not stopping cross and dealing with the ball in the box. He trusted we would win those ariel duels everytime and that we would dominated them on or attacking set pieces or on the counter attack. It was near perfect if we hadn't conceded x2 individual errors
Saka's first touch from Havertz cross was Real Madrid level. World class..
IF Saka becomes consistent, he can reach that level. Yes, defender was out of position, but most attackers can't control such a pass without allowing recovery time.
Saka controlled that ball like a Brazilian.
Tottenham treated this game as a cup final... which probably lead to their downfall considering their history.
đ
Ange Postecoglou doesn't know how to use his players. He has fast paced wingers and fullbacks. Yet he doesn't play counter attacking football. Clueless manager.
Canât lie sym weâre the only team who tried to do it the right way but arsenal can get refs help and itâs fine
â@kkrr3677
> starts by saying "can't lie"
> waffles with the most illogical rubbish even the most deluded spuds fan wouldn't subscribe to
â@@gomeze8230how is that waffle? Arsenal came out and played low block and counter against a worst team. Then scored off the back of a spurs penalty shout, where the referee literally refused to go and look at the VAR screen, despite being advised to.
The comment on the 2nd goal took me out. This is when he knew đ€Łđ€Ł
The fact is we went to the toilet bowl for one reason and that was to take the 3pts home with us. Thatâs exactly what we done. Spurs fans and skippy with a beard can cry about refs and whatever all they want but that wonât change the fact we got exactly what we wanted. A 10 year old that has watched 1 spurs game can tell you that their GK is useless at corners
I think this game just highlights Arsenal years into a project and spurs just starting one, Ange having to try to use existing players to do things they arenât good at, but I also think spurs should be hopeful if Ange stays around
loved the analysis of the game, think you missed the quality of the second goal, inch perfect pass from havertz and a killer touch, run, cut inside and finish from bukayo
Fair
Can see Flav crying from here.
As an arsenal fan i hope ange stays as a tottenham manager forever. He is ego is too big for him to ever go back on his principles of playing a high-line which means whenever teams just sit back and counter against them they get battered.
Arsenal deserved to win this game imo
I kept asking myself at HT how are we 3 up here? Far from vintage and the Raya mistake doesn't help, but a win's a win at this stage of the season. Hopefully City can drop a couple of points but seems unlikely in all honesty
We were 3 nil up because we had a plan.
@@paulosadebay5620 Agreed. But thought all round it was one of the worst performances Iâve seen this season. We were really poor on the ball and looked rattled at times. If VDVâs goal had stood we lose that game. Fortunately we took the chances we got early on and held out
Jim, when do we start to question Ange long term due to his insistence on not using a *proper* set piece coach?
Flav not fancy joining you for this one?
No mention of man of the match Kai havertz?
This episode should be called Size Matters
Why do you think we didnât go man to man Jim? Zonal marking just seems ridiculous when we do it
Used to enjoy your videos because they had a good range of subject matter.
Now you've become like sky, obsessed with the same 6 clubs and only focus on them.
So youâre saying Arteta is the spanish Tony Pulis?
Spurs fan here. Never deserve to win a game when you defend that badly
ever since viera left, they never had a team, that could bully oposition physically, sort of british barcelona. not anymore. they are like bloody ice hokey team.
ben white obstructing Vicario both set piece goals. Champions league VAR able to squash it, premier league still lagging behind unfortunately for spurs. This game was never Arsenal's to win, just defend: Spurs went out wide too much, never would have scored from a cross, could have tried all night. Probably needed CM's making deep diagonal runs through the middle, move their CB's around. Especially considering Arsenal play highest line in the league. Could have been carnage. Opportunity missed for Spurs.
Think if Raya doesn't make that silly mistake, the game never ends as close as it did. After that the crowd got back into it and the momentum swung. I thought Arsenal were squeezing the life out of the game very well until the Raya mistake, they were slowing the game down and starting to get on the ball more and control the game like they typically do. At the end of the day 3 points is 3 points and that's what matters right now.
The way Arsenal set up Spurs' best players were completely taken out of the game. Son and Maddison had absolutely nothing down the middle.
Genuinely donât think we (Spurs) played badly and didnât deserve to be 3-0 down at half time. That said, that shows that Arsenal are different from last season and are much more able to get over the line in big games, last year I think they would have crumbled to 3-3.
Wheres the flav vid?
after the final whistle i was fully expecting arteta to pul off that hairpiece to reveal that he is infact tony pulis
We would not be having all this stats talk if Spurs had scored a last minute goal. Instead, Raya would have been the topic of discussion. Spurs were just unlucky considering the disallowed goal and the penalty saga. Man City will win the league regardless.
yeah but james, in you combined title challengers starting 11, you only picked 1 arsenal player so how different are they actually?!đ
Why do people always concern about arsenal tactics and not Pep man city because he is full of knowledge than Arteta
Personally I think spurs played the better game overall but lost it defensively where as arsenal won it defensively
As a side note as a neutral I do think artetas brexit ball style against any decent opposition is becoming quite boring
If boring gets the job doneâŠ.. then let the boredom begin.
"artetas brexit ball style" - of all the teams in the league, you chose Arteta's Arsenal to describe Brexit Ball Style whatever that means? đ€Ł
Arsenal is meh. They dont even stack up to a weak Bayern team. This shows the quality of the EPL.
London is ALL RED!!!
its 17:12 for me. Bro is still in denial that Arsenal are made from the fabrics of Champions
Please Arsenal, as a Liverpool fan, you HAVE TO WIN THE TITLE, not because I want you to win, but I want the PED Oil Rat Fraudsters to NOT win. It.
Finally a reasonable liverpool fan. We need to prevent 115 Charges FC from winning again.
Need Wolves/West Ham/Spurs to do SOMETHING though
The penalty gave tottenham more xg
Tony Pulis
Still got the W đ
I know Arsenal fans wonât like this but Havertz is the answer. Next season he will score 25 goals
In all honesty. I want Havertz to start in every match, because he gives us so many options to play. Yes he isn't the best goalscorer, however he is miles better at link-up play. I would like Arteta to buy us some universal attackers (that can play wing and CF) or just two wingers, one on each side (one for rivalisation with Martinelli and Trossard and another one for the QUALITY substitution for Saka, so he can rest)
So Arsenal put that game plan together in a day and spurs had 2 weeks?
Ahh you forget this Arsenal team has played 4 times since Totteham last played, so taking a goal at Totteham would have been suicidal. But i must say your content creation technically has a whole lot of hard work into it.
Arsenal could score a lot more goals if Arteta and Edu could find someone with a long throw like Delap..
TP5
Bar a couple of individual errors arsenal were good value for the win ! , Ben white with the shithousery as per haha
Flav flav come out to play.....
I keep confusing you with James B of Arsenal Fan TV.
I sense that it's hard for you to give Arsenal credit...lol...
Aside from the two gifted goals, I felt Arsenal was in control the entire game. The last 5-10 was stressful, but that's always the case in 1 goal games. There's just such a clear difference in quality, in coaching, in preparation, in roles...I mean, sneakily Arsenal have become THE premium team in the EPL (that's not state owned with 115 charges).
Throughout the whole of the PL there needs to be more consistency with referees decisions, in countless other games itâs been given as a foul for obstruction for a player to be on the keeper like how White was on Vicario. The only consistent thing with that is that itâs not given as a foul to Spurs this season. I think a couple of the Arsenal players shouldâve been booked but werenât but thatâs a bit more debatable. What we did wrong however I think was playing Hojbjerg and Bentancur instead of Biss and Sarr, Hojbjerg has misplaced too many passes in big games recently which are giving goals away and today he literally gift wrapped one, and Bentancur I think just didnât have as much energy as Sarr did when he came on. My main thing though has to be consistency with VAR and the referees this season cos itâs proper lacking
So set piece goals are cheap goals now đđđđ
Own goal. A corner and a ball over top. But Arsenal were 2nd best across the pitch imho. They played a wise game knowing they had the lead... but a very fortunate win. Spurs look like they're brewing something... just need another season to settle
Yeah sure. Shut up mate. Useless club.
đđđ Whatever makes you feel better. We didnât even come out of first gear. We let spurs have the ball cause they werenât going to do anything with it. Spurs forwards were never going to score.
Spurs never looked like scoring under their own power tbf, not really. Arsenal have just played 4 games in 10 games, pressure games as well, while spurs had 15 days off... It wasn't a fortunate win. We weren't at our best, but its all about getting the win. But fortunate ? No. Taking a game in isolation is never a good way of judging/comparing 2 teams. Sure, you can judge the game for what it is, fair enough, but how much can you really take from it ? There's a reason why arsenal are 20 pts ahead of spurs and spurs have conceded 50+ goals this season... not sure what they're brewing, but they need to improve a lot to get near/beat this city side.
@gooner_duke2756 spurs had couple of goalline chances/hit the post and had a couple of 1vs1 with the keeper. Not sure what game you watched
@@mickbanner I'm aware of those chances and the 1 chance of Son. I meant in the context of despite having loads of possession there were 2 soft shots on target all game (i.e. the two goals...). Outside of that I can't remember Raya making a proper save all game and we were tired/leggy and not at our best tbh đ€·ââ
Tottenham didn't deserve anything from the game 0 shots on target the 1st half and 2 the second half wich was the penalty and the raya mistake.

I do believe this is good analysis but it does seem slightly biased. The first goal was an own goal, fundamentally a spurs mistake and itâs conveyed as the brilliance of arsenal. The second goal, lack lustre defence from Davisâs but conveyed as the brilliance of arsenal. In comparison - spurs first goal was âraya mistakeâ and not Romeoâs bravery to be up that high to win the ball and score. The minimal discussion on spurs hitting the post twice from set pieces is also strange. Of course the score line is the only real metric in how a team plays but I (as a bias spurs fan) do think it was much closer in overall play than some arsenal fans may wish to admit. 1st year in a projects vs 5th is pivotal in this game also.
im an arsenal fan and i have to say that we were trash in this game ...massive win tho
We were not trash. We just didnât press and that was part of the plan. Let Spurs have the ball and hit them on the counter and set pieces.
Trash? What game wer u watching, tactically Arteta let spurs have the possession. Spurs had 15days rest before this game while arsenal have played 3 games in a week before this game so noway we cld have pressed Spurs like other times
I mean raya literally hands them a free goal plus we were a bit sloppy especially in the first 25 minutes and don't get me started on that second half
to be fair tho you are right when you say the team only had 3 days of rest compared to Tottenham ill give you that
maybe I'm tripping I should be happy that we won
The performance was poor
