In terms of achievements Xavi and Iniesta are clear of Modric and Kroos. That barca duo were the catalysts to the two most dominant sides of this generation. Prime Barca(2008-2012) and Prime Spain(2008-2012). They won 3 consecutive major international tournaments being the best players of those tourneys. Xavi was the best player at Euro 2008. Iniesta was the best player in the 2010 World Cup and again in Euro 2012. They won 2 trebles. A sextuple and 30+ titles together. They both made it to the balon d'or podium as the top 3 finalists on more than one occasion in prime Messi and Ronaldo era(there was no way they could've won it). Unlike Modric who won it in 2018 when Messi and Ronaldo were getting old. They both made the top 10 best players of the world fifa rankings multiple timesb(Iniesta made it for 8 years and Xavi for 7 years). The only thing that. Not to mention the fifa fifpro world XI awards they've won those countless times.

It took a coach like Luis Aragones, an Atlético legend, who knew that real players are poisonuos for the national team, and against the WHOLE Spanish press, said "raúl's not coming...". What’s also crazy about the Spanish national team being so successful during that time period is a lot of people don’t realize there is a ton of tension in the Basque and Catalan regions against the Spanish state. To the point that they don’t want to be apart of Spain and they speak their own languages completely separate from Spanish. Quite a few of the players, including Pique, speak Basque and Catalan as their first language over Spanish. That tension was running through the team at that time as well. A language doesn't make a nation, holy roman german empire had different dialects and religions (protestant and catholics) and they reunified germany in the weimar republic despite their difference. We need to get together not separate.
