Jeni, I have 5 different kinds of grain mills at my house. The one I use the most is the Mock Mill attachment for my Kitchenaid. I ordered it when it first came out a good number of years ago. It works wonderfully for grinding corn and wheat berries. I mostly grind field corn that I grow. It doesn't hog up counter space and it has grinding stones inside of it that are easily accessible for cleaning out. The product does not heat up so it preserves food quality. Also, you can regrind your product back into it which is something that most mills will not let you do. Mock Mill also makes a stand-alone unit that works great, too. I highly recommend the Mock Mill attachment.
The sifter removes the bran. You can either take out or leave. I usually take out some makes for a lighter loaf. Most grinders don’t come with a sifter.
Love these relatable customer reviews. Thank you. I just acquired a similar model and was looking for reviews.
Thank you so much for the video. My son-in-law gave me one for my birthday, but I didn’t know how to use it. Your video is very helpful. Tnx again!
How exciting! I have been looking to buy one. Checking out different machines. My mum had a Champion juicer with a mill attachment back in the day. I know the juicer was really expensive even back in the 70’s but it had a powerful motor! It’s nice to see all the options out there. My budget might stretch to this one. 🙂
I am so glad you found this! I was talking with my husband about grain mills last week since I saw how much the prices rose for flour. Thank you!
You are so welcome! 😊
Thank you so much. I love watching your videos. I want a food mill so much. I'm looking into the one you bought. Thanks again for all you do.
Thank you for the review . I just got one today.
Hi Jeni! Looks like a nice grain mill. I have a manual one just in case of no power and I have a grist mill just down the road. He does corn mill and wheat, so I could always get it from him since it’s water powered. But if we do have power, that looks like it will be perfect.
Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day!!!
Great video, thank you.
Like you, I explored cheaper options which I used for about 2 years. I had a vitamix with a dry mixer so used that at first then purchased the grain grinder for my kitchen aid. Both worked okay but as I was making sourdough bread every other day it just was not enough. After much research I purchased the Mock Mill 200. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but I have been using it almost everyday for 2 years and I would not give it up for anything. I do not sift my flour and it is very fine, it is slightly warm but definitely not hot when done. I can grind large amounts at one time. BTW when I used the other two grinders I put my grain in the freezer for about an hour before grinding. I have read that the flour getting too hot is not the best fo it.
Jeni, if you ever want to upgrade, the Mockmill 100 is a great mill and a great investment. I like it because it doesn’t heat up the flour like other mills do. And it has different settings for course to fine grind. And they have a 6 year warranty. Yes, they are a bit pricier at around $310.00 and apparently very popular, because they are currently out of stock. But my post is meant for future reference when your ready to upgrade. Happy grinding 😄
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been wanting to buy one, but wasn’t even sure how to use it! This is so helpful and that flour looked beautiful!
You are so welcome! 😊
At first I used in Oster blender . For the past 15 years I used the hand crank Corona Grain Mill. Sometimes called the Collona Grain Mill. There is a provision to attach a motor. But despite having Motors all over the place, I never found it necessary in 15 years of use. I made my own screening screen to start with. But I found out a screen strainer will work just as well.
Very nice. I have a friend that has one and we have used it and it is wonderful. Great buy
Very cool! I bought a grain mill a few months ago but haven’t used it yet. LOL. Yours looks great. Can’t wait to try mine too. How exciting. Hugs Jeni❤️
❤️
I've been wanting a grain mill, I will check this one out. Thank you for sharing.
Yw! 😊
So glad for you. I had to go with manual.
Very interesting, I have been kicking around the idea of getting a grain mill but the cost was what was keeping me from getting one. Thank you for your honest opinion of the product!
You are so welcome! 😊
Awesome!!! This is on my want list!!
Excellent 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾ty
Awesome! Congrats! Something I am interested in doing too!
I was just looking at these too, the others are so pricey. Thanks so much for Sharing! 🙂
You are so welcome! 😊
I really like the grinder. Thanks for reviewing it with us.😊
Oh are so welcome!
I bought one similar to that, same set up for grain grinder, mine was around $70, I’d like a bigger one also but $$$$ aren’t in that budget range, but it sure dosent mess around, it did popcorn for cornbread
When wheat is hot while grinding it looses nutrient.
Okay, but it’s still more nutritious than bleached flour that’s been sitting on the store shelf for 6 months.
I just ordered a Mock mill that attaches to my kitchen aid ( made in Germany ) little over $200 I heard on a CZcamsr to put your gains in freezer first so the flour won’t heat up as bad - another option is a vitamix also the Mockmill has stones for grinding a big plus - ps just looked up $210
good and thank you !
I am thinking of getting on as an attachment for my kitchen aid stand. Thanks for sharing.
I ordered a moc Mill it fits kitchen Aid ( it’s made in Germany ) little over $200
Be careful with the kitchen aid mill attachments. I’ve heard that they can damage the motor.
@@katharvey7324 I've had mine several years now (10+) and no problems. If you over work it and don't follow the instructions for how and what to grind you might damage it but I highly doubt it. It may depend on what model KA you own thow...lower end model may not be able to handle it.
Exciting!!
I just purchased a wheat grinder that is dual purpose with a hand crank and motor attachment. Anxious to see how your bread and crackers turn out.
Awesome!! It turned out great! I will post a pic! 😊
i bought this 500 gr. capacity chinese grinder(like yours) here in germany, 1000 watts, amazon 71€`s. i dayly use a 40 years old schnitzer german stone milll, 1000gr. with 250 watts. my old mill serves me finest flour flour in minutes. and i can adjust it within the milling from course to flour. this creepy cheap chinese mill did me the job within seconds. so i´m amazed. it does me finest flour or coffee powder, out of the cheapest coffee beans, within a minute. never ever had better coffee, not even at star bucks. the goods dont get hot as in your mill, so i think for beginners this mills are perfect. i dont think this mill want serve me another 40 years. but for a small budget of a miss or lad itś perfect.
Wow, that is affordable! I like that it's all stainless steel. I'll remember this when someone asks me. Thanks!
Yw! 😊
Congratulations 🙂
Interesting grain mill! You can always get a larger flour sieve if you want to make the sifting process go faster :-)
Congratulations, very nice.
My concern was what if the we're out of power for a period.
My budget is extremely tight so I just got a manual one.
Eventually I will get a manual one as well, but right now I have power and a small budget.
Hope you enjoy. Wondering if you had considered the attachment for your kitchen aid? By the way I enjoy your show very much.
I just got a grain mill yesterday! I decided on getting a manual hand crank one. I was also motivated and confined by budget
I don't expect or intend for it to replace buying store bought flour but I will be happy to have it for more rustic loaves of bread and better flavour and texture when needed.
Awesome
Thanks Jeni
Yw! 😊
A nice find! For my usage I'd be better off with a manual hand grinder mill. Enjoy your new gadget!
Definitely
How was your bread? I tried out my Vitamix today tor make flour. Worked like a champ! I was a happy camper. Made pizza dough with it. Such a nice dough.
It was great!! 😊 Wonderful!
Always knowledgeable and presenting affordable items we can be purchase. You’re the best, Jeni!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
🤗
Can you use this to grind wet nixtamalized corn to make masa harina?
I'm sure you could.
Hi, a question regarding this one, can I grind sesame to make sesame butter. On Amazon, it says yes but the mini book that comes with it says the opposite.
Thank you for your time? 🙂
I haven't tried it, but I personally think it would work just fine for that.
I see that you have a kitchen aid mixer what do you think about their grain mill attachment for almost the same price
I have never used one, so I don’t have an opinion. My Kitchen Aid motor has a hard time with bread dough, so I shy away from extra attachments.
THANKS. I BOUGHT AN EXPENSIVE BLENDER AND ITS BROKE ALREADY. I SPECIFICALLY BOUGHT IT TO MAKE CASHEW BUTTER. IM SENDING IT BACK AND THE MAKERS SAID THEY WOULD SEND ME ANOTHER ONE BUT I THINK I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A GRINDER INSTEAD OF A BLENDER. DO YOU MAKE NUT BUTTER IN YOUR GRINDER? I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WHICH MAKES NUT BUTTER TO A PASTE LIKE IN THE JAR OF PEANUT BUTTER.
I have not made nut butter in it, but it is super strong, I'm sure it would work great, since I use it for wheat berries.
So funny I have the smaller version of this and find it didn’t grind my berries fine enough so I don’t really like it. I will be looking into this one. How long did u time it? I like that feature. I’m afraid to use mine more than 40 seconds at a time cause it got hit. How long did it take u to get that nice fine flour. Plus I love the sifter. Txs jen
I put the dial on 4. Not sure how long that is but I think around a minute. It works great! 😊
I need a commercial size. What are the big fancy one?
Wondermill
I also want to add….don’t throw away what you sifted out of the flour. You can use it to make bran muffins!
I did not throw it away. In fact I left it in my bread before I did the video for you guys. I only sifted it for the camera., 😊
Hi, thank you for sharing, I have a grain mill that looks exactly like this one but it is smaller in capacity (400 g) anyways, I wanted to know how do you make the grinder swing? Should I loosen up something? I am concerned about security that's why I don't dare to touch anything hhhh
It has a know on the side, turn to loosen and it swings. 😊
@@Jeni_Gough thank you, I guess I have to turn it more than once hhh
I've been looking for a good potato bread recipe. I can't find the recipe my mother used. Do you have one you could share?
This can be made into a loaf of bread instead of rolls. 😊

@@Jeni_Gough thank you
Hi Jeni....I just got this grain mill....no instructions aside from a poorly half sheet....I can't say what brand because it seems that the unit comes from China and merchants, perhaps, put their own names on it. Anyhoot, Did you grind that 1 c of red wheat berries for the full 5 minutes? Have you also tried for lesser time?
I always grind for less time
Thank you kindly for your time to reply. @@Jeni_Gough
what if your power goes out and you need flour, wouldnt it be better to have a hand grinder ??
Some people may be older and weaker, or have arthritis. So a hand grinder may not be a good fit for some.
@@katharvey7324 there are manual grain mills that have an optimal motor that attaches to them. That's what I have. Please, this type doesn't heat up the wheat berries like the one shown in this video. The brand is Roots & Branches. It is a auger style mill, and all parts that come into contact with the grain are hand washable.
A hand grinder is not in my budget right now. I have power right now. This does not mean that I can’t get one in the future!
Como adquirir uno de ellos
En mi enlace Amazon Kitchen Must Haves
Probably wheat germ in the portion left after you sifted it. Use it!
I did use it!!! I only sifted for the camera!!
Very interesting I have never seen this particular Grain mill. Another downside of this gray nail is that if it heats up that much is killing some of the good stuff in your flour. I’m very interested in seeing your breadmaking Video
Even heated up a little, it will still have more nutrition that the stuff in the shelf. 😊
Kiero comprar este mollino soy de colombia en que lugar lo puedo comprar favor la direccion

Hi how heavy is this device?
Not heavy, it’s manageable compared to other grain mills! Maybe 7 lbs
@@Jeni_Gough okay thank you!
Could you tell me how to contact the company?
No, I don’t have any ties with them, I bought this myself.
I bought one. Have had little over a year. Not used very much. Been trying to use it. It is VERY hard to get it tight enough to grind. My husband even has trouble tightening it. Can not find phone number to contact. Right now, I would NOT recommend.
I’m sorry to hear that, I’ve had mine for a year now, I use it often and have never had any issues with it. Works great!
isnt it just a blender?
No! its a high powdered grinder
@@Jeni_Gough perhaps I'll get one. I used a blender this weekend and my cornbread has much to be desired, pretty chunky
Personally I think a manual grinder makes more sense.... .
Okay
It may make more sense for you, but not for everyone. I know at 62 years old, I don’t think I’d have the strength or stamina to use a manual grinder.
I just got this from Walmart for $89. USD, delivered for free even. But no real instructions on how to use it, just a short note. However the name on the one in the video isn't on this one, it just says "high speed multifunction"...etc. the label on the top canister compartment isn't there either. Plus it came in a plain brown box, nothing fancy. The power rating on this is 1800 watts. However whats with the holes that with the lightening bolt that the pic on mine says, "Carbon Brush?" Great video, thank you for posting it and showing and explaining how to use it.
That’s a good deal! There are several brands that look the same. I’m jot sure what carbon brush means though. Yw! 😊
czcams.com/video/HHE9k8KzwLE/video.html
video shows how to change them, but didn't answer questions of how to tell if they need changing, how long they last, when to tell if they are bad, etc.
I'm concerned with the amount of heat generated and how it will affect the nutritional value of the flour.
I'm not
What does that little black/red button at the bottom ? I have this but I don't know what it does, I pressed it and the timer won't move anymore🥲
I'm not sure
@@Jeni_Gough Thank you for your reply, I found out this little button is an overload button, and it'll get out for you to press to protect the machine
Thank you so much. I love watching your videos. I want a food mill so much. I'm looking into the one you bought. Thanks again for all you do.
You are so welcome! 😊
Hope you enjoy. Wondering if you had considered the attachment for your kitchen aid? By the way I enjoy your show very much.
I bought one but haven’t used it yet. What do you think?
@@RiceaRoni354 I haven’t bought one yet but since the price was about the same and don’t have a lot of storage space it might be the one I should try. Please let me know if you like it.
@@dorothybonamer1820 you may want to do some research on the kitchen aid attachment. I’ve heard several stories about them burning up the motor. It also gets the flour very hot. I almost got one until I read the negative reviews on them. I bit the bullet and bought the Mockmill 100 and I’m very glad that I did!
@@katharvey7324 how cool it is to get that kind of feedback. Thanks I will continue my search thought about a manual one but my hands have been giving me a hard time.
@@katharvey7324 I've been using my Mock Mill attachment since it first came out to grind my field corn and wheat berries. It absolutely does not heat up the product at all. My Kitchenaid mixer works just like it did when I first bought it 16 years ago and has not overheated or burned up from grinding all kinds of corn I grow. I don't believe the stories and rumors people tend to pass around.
