I really hope the visibility through the spray behind the cars isn't affected by the graphics settings for the sake of everyone having a consistent experience.
good point
I imagine the delays have been at least due to them working on optimization, for the reasons you mention. And I play in VR on a Quest 2, so I'm definitely concerned.
what he's saying has nothing to do with optimization, he's trying to say that he hopes that there isn't a way to reduce the amount of spray you see compared to what others see as that wouldn't keep it consistent for everyone and would give an advantage@@braydenjones603
This is a great point. Gotta play on low settings to have not spray lol. Hopefully is not the case.
Yeah that's how it was in rf2. You could turn rain graphics down and not have any spray and didn't even have to use the windshield wipers. It was a total cheat.
People will complain a lot about the concern for visibility but its the most accurate thing along with the puddling, and the way the car will slip but is super recoverable. My first practice and quali in my career was in the wet at Road Atlanta, and was the most terrifying thing to do. iRacing is giving that same impression of running in the wet here, and I love every bit of it.
It’s going to make you feel right at home then. It’s very good!!
it will pretty awesome to get videos about rain driving from your experience! Much of us, simracers, have no idea how the car behaves in reality and now the iRacing is almost doing a 1:1 experience for this conditions, your tip and advices would be mega! Thanks for the video Dan, hope to see you soon on the virtual or real track:)
My thoughts exactly. If Daniel gives it the thumbs up...thats all I need to know...plus all the tips I'm hoping he'll give us :)
💯💯 it’s tough too because you can’t practice in the wet whenever you want to. I was lucky and got to do two 24 kart races where it rained and learned a lot that way.
I'm not really a subscriber to the idea that if one person who does it professionally likes it then it must be good. I'm not saying Daniel is, but all sorts of professionals can be deeply deluded, and this approach to thinking really deletes peoples capacity to assess something critically with keen observation and situational awareness. This kind of thinking is how mass delusion happens, as is the nature of mob mentality.
@@quantametricThen how do you suggest for us to gather this information with no access to the car in real life? As in this case Daniel drives this car for a living.
@@tommytenzoSolutions to reality aren't that easy... For me I compare it to the physics of my personal car because I'm trying to create a practice template for something that is road relatable. If you want strictly high end race car insight you could rent one out for yourself, but it's not cheap. I just think only you can know as an individual what's most accurate to real world.
The reality is that it's extremely expensive to rent these cars and so I'm not going to blindly trust someone who might potentially only have their job because they happen to have a lot of money... Daniel seems ok but the reality is that usually a huge lack of experience and insight comes with being trust fund level of rich from an early age. Just because someone does something for a job does not mean they are any good at it.
I just drove Sebring in the rain two weeks ago. I compared some of my in car footage. You are right - the puddling is very accurate to real life.
Thanks to good old laser scanning.
so excited to use this as a training tool for real life! I went to watkins glen for the first time and it was raining on and off all day, terrifying for having very little track experience in the wet with all those walls!
Couldn’t wait to hear from you about the rain! Glad they nailed it and can’t wait to learn the wet line and take it to my real life track days. Hope you release the wet driving guide soon so we can get a leg up on everyone else during week 13!
awesome video Dan!! watching your lines is gonna help a lot right off the bat!
Always love to hear your perspective Daniel! Hyped for rain on Tuesday!
Thanks for the overview! It’s going to be interesting driving in the rain, but with that introduction I’m looking forward to the new
iRacing Tempest addition and already feeling more confident. Additional driving in the rain would be great!
Thanks!
Always love your real world takes on the sim. Can't wait to try out the rain in a few days myself!
I’m soooooo excited for this. Racing in the rain is going to be a blast in VR.
Yea I am exclusively VR and I am a bit worried about being able to run it!
@@scooterb6082 I think it will run fine. I trust the devs at IRacing that they optimized it well. :)
Ive never tried VR but i feel like it would be terrifying in the rain lol
Thank you Dan! If they nailed the rain and wet tyre behaviour is an amazing new. Looking forward to experience this!
would be amazing if you could make a series/video with some tips and tricks on what to do and what not to do in the rain. great video man, keep up the good work
Gave us a little for the first wet endurance race there on Sebring. So cool
Don’t slam on the brake and the throttle, break smooth and early, turn the car and go smooth back on throttle.
Don't: go off track
Do: stay on track
You're welcome
Thanks for the video Daniel! Can't wait to try it myself.
Thank you Daniel for your impressions.
Great vid and great perspective. Would love to see some rain related content. I think we are a lot of people that are going to need it and be looking for it :)
You are the man. Grats on another Daytona 24 win.
hosted here I come, Its great to hear this from you rather than others that do have a clue thanks !!😉
My only point of reference for wet weather racing is having competed in kart races in the rain when I was younger, but I couldn't believe how realistic this was. The aquaplaning, how it understeers and oversteers, the curbs, puddles, and especially spray, all of it just immediately felt familiar and brought me back to my karting days :D I've played so many sims' wet weather modes and nothing has ever come close to recreating that real life experience until now. Hats off to the iRacing team, it's honestly a remarkable feat of engineering.
Well worth the wait by the looks of things, looks really good!!
Thank you😊 ... I'm very excited😂
Awesome video, much appreciated the breakdown and prospective.
No problem. It’s my pleasure.
This is what we want to hear! Thanks for the detailed insight.
Glad it was helpful!
Great vídeo... Thanks Daniel!
How to drive in the rain series would be great. Not just the basics, but knowing how multiclass racing shapes up in the rain would be a big one for me.
Im so excited to try this! When i tried the rain in Automobilista 2 i was blown away how good it felt. If you hit a puddle the car hydroplaned, but really bad. Its interesting to hear you say that while the car hydroplanes, it's catchable, so i can't wait to compare! Thanks for this well done video! 9:09
Very nice demo thanks Daniel
A series dedicated to learning how to race in the rain would be awesome!
Learn about the wet line and things you can do in order to find the limit without taking too many risks. Since the rain in iracing is modeled very dynamically, you'll have to adjust to the track on a lap-by-lap (or even sector by sector in tracks like the nurb). The rest will come down to practice in shitty weather
Rain-master series 👌
Love it. Just tried it with the LMP2 at Spa and it's awesome. It really feels that we're driving in the rain. I think the DD drivers will have an insane advantage now.
I cannot wait for it on Tuesday, and I am going from a gear driven wheel base to a DD tomorrow, so just in time for rain. Also I think you should start dual streaming to CZcams, I don't do twitch for live streams and would love to see some live streaming on CZcams
Great video Dan, I love your Iracing videos where you drive your sim. Is the rain bad for low end PC performance? Is the ran coming during week 13? Thanks for the awesome video!
I love that I can still see some bones of Grand Prix Legends in this, like the cockpit camera movement. They got that prefect in 1998.
Thanks for the video. Can’t wait for this. Off subject, noticed you moved to the passive throttle and move the active pedal to the clutch. Can I ask why?
Hi Daniel, very informative, thank you looks like fun indeed.
I trust your review, especially since you're a legit racer. I took a spin on a wet track myself, and even though I'm no pro, it felt surprisingly authentic. It's all about that natural feel. Having unpredictable weather in every hourly session would add a whole new level of excitement.
Thank you Dan, I am even more anxious to try it! What about your motion system with rain? How did it work?
Definitely a racing in the rain 🌧️ series 👍🏼👍🏼🏁 Congratulations again 2X Champ‼️🏆🏆🏁
Awesome! Looking forward to trying it out.
It’s worth the wait
The only thing they could be better is that they should turned the rain light more lighter, include the tail light in the spray, it’s more of a Visual Stuff, but the rain physics……..god it looks absolute awesome, I’ve been waiting this level of rain simulation for 5 years😂, well done iRacing❤
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to this. I run 3-5 track weekends a year (HPDE) and some rain really effects my limited track time. If this gives me some realistic training and adds to my Iracing fun I'm gonna love it! Thanks for the awesome content.
Excellent analysis! Kind of scary too
Can't wait to try it!!
I'm most excited about how this is going to impact strategy in long races - adds a whole new dimension.
Great Vid Morad! I Can't wait to drive it. Yeah, make a rain series, I think that would do really well! :)
I’ll definitely get on it! I’ll crank out the content when I’m home :)
@danielmorad sounds good, man!
Yes we would really like to know more about the rain and how to use the tyres (even in the dry). Please do a series on these
great overview! I love the overhead camera angle I see what camera you are using thanks for sharing! what FPS do you record in?
Oh yeahhhhh DM can't wait for your learning rain video bro. I need some new Winner Loser gloves too. When does coming back?
Cant wait for this!
My first formula vee race was in the rain at Mosport. Can’t wait to try it in sim
Man I am so incredibly hyped
This looks awesome, can't wait to try it!
It’s awesome. You’ll love it
The rain itself is cool, but I am most excited about going from wet to dry or dry to wet in the longer races. Making the call to go to wet tires or dry tires is going to be so fun.
Really great video! Will you be able to cover the brake ducts in the setup? Was there a PC performance hit at all in terms of frame rate? Has iRacing said they optimized the game with this build? I only ask cause I'm an old GPU (980 gtx) lol..
iRaining has come, finally. Thank you Dan 🤩
I finally gave iracing a try because it was the only game I could play at the sim center that I could control the graphical settings on the individual sim for vr. Its mostly setup for displays on AC. I was surprised that the car/road feel was actually really good especially with dbox in iracing. I'll have to try the rain weather later sometime.
Nice to see! Other devs will have to up their wet game too now because of this, as most of them just take the 'dry line but with less grip overall' approach.
Daniel best!
Thanks for all💪💪🙏🙏👍👍👍👍
Hey Daniel, great perspective here. Have you tried Ams2 since the more recent 1.5.5 updates where they claim to have a similar weather system? It seems to also force you to drive the wet line and avoid rubber/puddles to go fastest. If so, is this significantly better than that? I'd be curious of your thoughts on AMS2's updated rain physics if you haven't given it a try. Thanks!
Great review
Danke für das Video ❤ … ich liebe diesen Regen 🌧
My pleasure. It will be fun
I haven't tested it yet, I'm waiting for my 4 x 120 radiator, it looks good on this race track, hope on other race tracks too
the pile-ups are gonna be epic
Awesome. This is a game changer.
This all looks great. I can't wait to see what things like degradation looks like during the transition period from wet to dry. Will driving off-line cool off the tires and extend life during that period if necessary? Lot's of things to dig into. Exciting stuff.
I tried it as much as I could before I had to head to the airport and it was actually quite cool during the transition phase into dry. Didn’t drive long enough to burn the tires off but it’s squirming all over the place for sure
@@danielmorad Awesome stuff. Really looking forward to getting into it this week. Thanks for putting out the information that you do in these videos. I really enjoy your incite as a pro driver who drives sim like us mere morals.
Roll on Tuesday, will there be softer setups for the wet or just wet tyres?
You know what I like about iRacing? They always deliver. Yes it is way pricier than the others, but they always deliver.
Subscribing in anticipation of a series teaching us how to race in the rain😂
Thats why i love iRacing
I cannot wait to try this in VR! The realism of the spray is gonna look so good! Great video and as always Daniel.
Vr way to go probably not for real drivers but for sim fans hell yes GT7 Vr not bad for a console game.
VR is king !@@degeautdfanfirst
same VR user here . The immersion is going to be insane.
In VR, I'm worried about fps dropping.
@@billm.3583 whats your setup atm
mr. Morad has grown on me, big time
I’m curious how the rain will be implemented to races. Like are certain races just going to be scheduled as a rain race? Or will it be listed as variable and it could rain or be sunny?
I can't wait till they release snow!
Love the vid. Us VR guys are def worried re FPS
I wouldn’t be. I think that based on my triple screen experience, it’s pretty good on FPS. no chance from what I had before.
Perfect track choice a little hurricane just ripped through Sebring today 😂
It sure did haha
Would love too see a racing school series about driving in rain!
I'm keen to find out if any of the improvements to dynamic track carry over into normal dry weather physics. Because to me it's always seemed that there is only ever one line and every corner has the same unchanging grip level, at least on the road side of things.
Can’t wait. I’m in England so I’m an expert at driving in the rain 🤣
Will get it Tuesday so will see. For me, I want realism and the race dates, in sim should be realistic, meaning whatever the track is experiencing, that’s what we should get. A lot of leagues make it east for people running static weather. I’m glad to hear it feels real. Netcode is the scary part … 😱
More rain driving theory would be much appreciated ;)
Hyped Bruh.
It makes me happy to hear that it feels realistic. Now add in dry to wet mixed conditions like that can be found in Nürburgring. I can't wait ! I love racing in the rain. It really allows people who drive smooth to shine.
Already exists. It’s amazing actually. Pumped for all the situations we will encounter.
I see that you don't use an active pedal for throttle. Does it make any difference in the feel of the car if would use an active pedal for the throttle ?
A series of episodes on how to drive in the rain would be great!
Nice Video Daniel. Can you tell me what in ear Headset you use. Very thx.👋😊
@danielI am totally unexperienced in driving GT3 Cars. I recently began iRacing with the MX5 though 😂. But I tried the Mercedes in the Rain and it was a mess 😂. The rear comes somtimes just when I break in a straight line … So I‘m wondering what I do wrong. Do you adjust break bias for example?
cant wait for the next vid on racing in the rain
It’ll be coming out Tuesday
Great !! Rain series, pleeeeeeease !!!
Super excited about the rain, but how are the slick tyres in the dry now? Are they great too? Can’t wait for them to add this to the Formula cars.
the iracing partner XD
Would love more info on how to race in rain :)
Fish folk in their element finally. Let's go!
Cant wait to drive the 24 le mans later in iracing and with sudden rain, it changed strategy and everything, just epic
Best strategy: NOT CRASHING 😅 👍
I MEANT MY PC WITH RAIN 😅
That is amazing...
Did they alter the track limits in wet conditions or is it still the same as is now?
Great content, thank you! BTW, which wheel are you using?
bump
that would be the Precision Sim Engineering LM-X
Can't wait :)
This looks so sick...
Dan - very cool. Do you have a choice in tires? For example intermediate and full wet tires? Can it stop raining during a race and the track start to dry out?
Just wet and dry at the moment. Jimmy broadbent explains more
Pro Driver Styler. No comment.
Personal question? Please Try WRC 23 sometime!
Thank you for this video, which makes me even more impatient. In VR, it's going to be crazy. Technical question: I also have the 2 simucube active pedals. Do you think we need to adapt the settings to the rain? I would imagine so. Thanks for your answer.
Hey! Not at all. The settings are perfect for dry and wet. These will shine in the rain actually. Having the extra feedback is amazing.
