#simracing #iracing #gaming - Hry
I racing's rain is so realistic that it seems unrealistic..
What do you mean 😆
@@CrispyChips007 Graphics
@@ssupz this is the first game/sim to do a proper wet line, so it's hard or unrealistic, unless you know how to drive in the wet
@@2MuckinFuchwell for me its very realistic.
@@damarfadlan9251 yeah me too. I meant "feels unrealistic" because every other sim/game has given us what I thought was correct wet physics
Bravo iracing, the feedback from drivers like James and others prove that they took their time to put out a great product
💯
@@Jaaamesbut its not a great product. it's mediocre at best. You people need to understand how lazy iRacing is as a company. Bored nerds in their spare time can make Assetto Corsa look 10 times better than this... iRacing has no excuse. I'm happy they got the physics correct but thats only half of immersion.
@@crashmaster26 Remembering that Iracing has been on the market longer than anyone else and is the most expensive. I don't think it's worth the cost benefit just for ok physics and multiplayer.
@@crashmaster26 People don't play iRacing for good graphics but realistic handling and physics, and iirc they are working on a new graphics engine
@@jessevw932 sounds like you're simping for iracing. Doesn't matter what you race for, the resources given to iracing are no where near the value they give back to you objectively
This rain update has made me realize that slippier is not a word my phone recognizes
I'm just so glad they took their time to get it right. It's a complete game changer and it feels like nothing else on the market today. Wet to dry conditions in particular are incredible and I can't wait to do some endurance racing this season
AMS2 is better.
I agree, can't wait to do some endurance racing
Only actual race car drivers who have actual experience in a race car behind these conditions can say how real the rain is. Drivers like Daniel Morad can confirm that Iracing racing is the closest to real in the market right now
They need to sort the mirror car spray image out as that looks so off it looks like a ghost 👻
Tbf I run the mirror on maximum FOV just so I can see more when I'm racing wheel to wheel, it does make it look a bit funky tho; especially in the rain😅
Just thinking out loud:
I wonder if, because of the spray, people on a single monitor with typically narrow FOV will now widen it to see brake markers etc on left and right?
Very insightful video as usual!
Imo the rain is pretty good in iracing but not perfect. Although iracing is the only sim to kind of accurately simulate the dry racing line being the slippiest.
Same as tyre models and damage they will refine it over time. As more and more cars are added and they gather more data and feedback from drivers it will only get improve. iRacing is one of the very few live service games where that's actually a good thing and benefits the consumer in the long run.
@@scottmatthew9605 exactly
Great video! And yes, this is new generation of simracing.
🤝
I usually try my best to not 'like' any videos with the term 'iracing' in them because I don't want my feed to be swamped/flooded with iracing content but, I made an exception this time because your points of comparison with irl track racing and the pointers you shared was just too good not to. Thanks James.
Glad you enjoyed🤝
Have a look at Emmree around the ring in the wet she was brilliant doing a 7.31 .
@James Baldwin thank you for the video, you have very impressive skills.
Looks like you haven't set 60 degree FOV in your mirror, spray sofar behind...
or am I tripping?
It's on maximum FOV, hence why it looks weird😅
Try it in VR, u can see a bit more thrue
Yeah deffo wanna try it in VR
29:47 I think it sums it all up
I don't know how I feel about the rain. I'm really struggling with it. My biggest issue is when i apply the brake its either I'm not braking hard enough and i miss the apex or I'm applying way too much brake and locking up the tires and slide off track. I cant find that balance
It's definitely tricky. Maybe I can make some content on how to extract lap time from yourself in wet conditions, it's a completely different driving style compared with the dry.
How does it compare to Rfactor 2 Rain?
Look's similar, feels much better
@@Jaaameswhat about rFactor3 (LMU)? A few characteristics / differences?
The only problem with rain is going to be, imo, during races where fewer people will compete due to rain. Rain is hard and some people dont feel comfortable as it is variable so i guess people dont like to adapt to these conditions. The biggest benefit will come in professional races where it will be more enjoyable as it will force drivers to change their driving style and adapt to the situations. Im so worried that eventually drivers find a way to exploit rain but until that happens, it will be enjoyable.
every track in the uk has a 90% chance of being a wet weather race lol
100% you mean😂
what geafics card do you use and processor?
bit.ly/3RFUiTQ
Lets get wet is my favourite quote of the year
😂
you need to adjust the rear mirror pov tho.
I know
Does somebody now how much newtonmemer a GT3 car has on the steering wheel?
Many have said it is in between the 10-15nm range depending on car/setup/track. 12 has seemed to be the most consistent number i have seen from real drivers.
Edit: im talking peak force. They dont feel that constantly. Constant was more in the 6-10 range if i remember correctly.
I don't know the specific number. The cars I've driven used power steering so it was never crazy physical in terms of the steering.
after driving in the rain for a few days.... i think the rain on windscreen is lazily done, there is no difference if you drive with no wipers... also there is no visor effects for open wheel. Track looks and feels amazing although I'm sceptical about how the dry line is formed, it's hardly "dynamic"
Visor effects for open wheel is being worked on, brighter brakes lights too.
I think many graphical areas will be polished but the foundation they've released is a great start.
as a viewer only, the spray also only seems to affect the view ahead, like a wall. it doesn't seem to add any water to the windscreen. there's no haze left by it, or by the rain at all it's like perfectly clear weather with a dark sky, wetish looking road, but everything else looks dry, with goofy almost white clouds attached to the back of cars almost like a parachute or something. it also kind of looks like rain lights / brake lights were forgotten so far, but seem to be in the works like sloth says
my guess is that they might add to it to make it look more realistic to match visually, how it seems to feel to drive so it's less disjointed but also i'm guessing that it's meant to look a bit potato so the 2015 laptop players can still play, as much as the sweats can still get like 500fps type stuff too. for a "test" it's pretty decent considering the games has always had that vibe of "made in 2008" about it and im sure it'll improve
anyone that's driven a real car on a highway, especially a single lane each way, trying to pass slower vehicles like trucks in the rain can attest to spray really messing with the view and windscreen with a ton of water and grit and oils. iracing is like 50% of the way there and it's really cool to see
@@sloth_energy yes i totally agree, it's amazing foundation.
"LETS GET WET!!""
I think the sparying is only realistic in vr where you can see more with 2 eyes but in 2D there is nothing for you see, just a cloud of water. They should compensate a bit in 2D just like the did with the halo.
I also fear that the wet line could become a gimmick and it is exagerated for pr reasons.
how can u see more with vr? also how could a wet line become a gimmick?
@@xaviermaczko In a recent Kireth video "VR Rain In ACC" he explains that in vr the objects are more clear to see than what it appears on the screen. I am curious to see if it is the same case in iRacing.
wet lines are of course real but they are dynamic I just hope that in iRacing they change in intensity depending on the weather changes.
You don't see anything either in real life during heavy rain, has nothing to do with VR. They need to work on the rain lights, the rest is good.
I can assure that you see absolutely nothing in VR either.
@@drchtct They are working on the rain lights as high priority. I've heard though it's very difficult due to their game engine limitations
Very realistic, looks awesome, just the car in the mirror does not look right if i was being picky :)
Tbf I run the mirror on maximum FOV just so I can see more when I'm racing wheel to wheel, it does make it look a bit funky tho; especially in the rain😅
One week hype, after that nobody will care about rain and go back to dry for the rest of their lifes 😂😂
💪💪
If there was no rubber laid down due to rain, would the racing line in the rain return due to lack of rubber on track?
No it's not just because of rain that the racing line is more slippery. It's also because of wear which makes the track smoother and thus there is less grooves for the water to go and your tires to "bite" into.
If it was a green race track with no rubber and it was wet, and because the track on the racing line is worn, you would still drive the wet line as no rubber is being laid down?
@@doric_historic depends on the kind of corner. It’s not really a “one size fit’s all” situation. It depends how heavy the rain is, how old the surface of the track is etc
Really going to depend on the track, there's just too many variables. Rule of thumb is to just stick to wet line, but each corner will require some experimenting to see where it does and doesn't have grip.
@@marijn17s this^^
I'm wondering how it compares to ACC...
Look's similar, feels much better
the merc is pretty poor in the wet
Yeah I did hear that tbf
You took out my comments 😅
I've never deleted anyone's comment on any of my videos😂

Title of the Only Fans account; "Let's get wet!" 😁
Coming soon👀😂
Well it feels almost there but not quite. And the track just looks like a glitch lol but because track looks all glossy is hard to tell puddles at least at Nordschleife but also i can’t do ultra graphics
SSR needs to be on which improves the puddles a lot but does cost some performance.
@Daz555Daz not some performance..tons of performance. Hopefully they keep optimising it
@@MiserableRacer really they need to move to DX12 but that's going to be painful and a long development.
@@Daz555Dazdeffo. SSR tanks performance in VR and its a bloody shame but it is just the start so fingers crossed
The ghost car spray in the rear view doesn't work
its because of his rear camera fov is so high
@@TetraMedia Correct
iRacing pls come to console
Would be cool but I don't think it'll be anytime soon my friend😅
The rain effects in iRacing is as realistic like in GT5.😅
Yeah no tail lights 🎉 no water on cars 😮 rain drops are bad and the spray looks really weird 😐 but they nailed the physics. Plus big performance hit of course.
i'd rather take the physics for now, sure they will make graphical updates later
You have no idea what you're talking about 😂 There is water on cars (maybe get your eyes checked?), you can literally see and if you don't have iracing yourself you can look at their socials. Taillights are being worked on but have proven to be difficult due to game engine limitations. Rain drops i agree they should be a bit more intense on the windshield. Performance hit depends on your system. I have a mid range pc and have a 5% performance hit at most, (most people have 0 to 10% performance loss compared to dry).
Of course also keep in mind that this is literally just released and they want feedback of the community for improvements
@@StevenYanni That's my view on it
Physics - iRacing
Looks - ACC
😢
Physics are more important, I think they'll get there with the graphics
@@Jaaames Can't argue with that haha
for n64 graphics, pretty damn good. For modern day... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH pathetic garbage when you consider their annual revenue
It looks like a PS1 Game lol
Looks very similar to Gran Turismo 2.😅
Nobody plays iracing for the graphics🤡
@jaaames Man, you sure do have some wildly aggressive and unhinged followers James. My gosh. I made a comment of my observation of iracing rain and got dog piled by your followers as if they dev'd the game and proceeded to berate me without knowing a darned thing about me. This is one heck of a toxic forum you have here sir. My goodness.
It's probably because you sounded so aggressive. What car have you raced in the wet and what is the equivalent in iRacing? I've only had a single track day in an mx5 in the wet six years ago, and this update seems pretty good to me in bringing back some memories of that experience. It's not perfect (iRacing always feels a little wrong on oversteer), but it's far from being "shit".
lol cuz you just said its shit and didnt give any reason as to why, could you explain why you think its shit
@wake99 Because I think it's shit. The rain doesn't get harder with speed. This is shit programming. The mist doesn't dissipate as it trails back from the cars. This is shit programming. The spray from the car in front doesn't affect your windshield in any way. This is shit programming. The spray doesn't deposit any grime or oil on your windshield and the windshield never dries up causing a buildup like it does in cars where a tear off option exists. This is shit programming. I can go on for days but geeze, why should I have to. This rain is unrealistic as hell and I challenge anyone who is an actual real life driver to argue with my points, besides the part where I believe it's shit programming because that's my opinion, where my observations of how the off spray behaves, that is fact.
@@ab8jehSee my reply below then argue that my points aren't valid. If you've actually raced in the rain, you have no choice buy to agree because I've stated facts.
@@Im2Old4ThisShite I'll try asking again. What cars have you raced in the wet and how does the handling compare, because to me it seems quite good. Not perfect, but quite decent compared to let's say ACC.
forza rain>iracing rain
😂🤣🤣
visually, you mean??
Not sure about that one bud
simracer that fails to understand the overall attraction with the cost of iracing.. sry don't get me wrong, I'm not against it, And hope you all enjoy, but I will not be forking out the cost!
Sorry i don't remember anyone asking you to get iRacing. 🤔
Fair enough, it is expensive in the long run there's no denying that
Just be legit... Gt7 does a better job of the rain
Haha wat zeg je me nou
On Gt7 the racing line doesn’t change at all in the wet, it’s just don’t touch the kerbs. Iracing actually has wet lines
graphics wise yes, physics wise no
my friend.. ignorant is a bliss... gt7 has no puddle, no wet line, no physics of dry turning into wet/ wet turning into dry, no physics of rubber slip on the track.. in iracing, the wet track is dynamic, the more people driving particular line, that line will dry up first before everything else. these 2 r not even close my friend
@@maxxyw bud.... U clearly don't own gt7 if ur making those comments.... But really, ur sounding rather stupid.
Coming from someone who's actually raced in real life and raced in the rain, this is absolute shit. Its so far off in every way it can be that its astonishing that its being praised. Complete and utter shit
lmao okay boomer
Which of these cars have you actually driven in the wet lol? GR86 feels almost 1:1 to real life. Best implementation of weather in any race sim so far…
So you dont quite like it?
Haha wat zeg je me nou
So you think Daniel Morad and James here. Who've actually driven GT3 s in the wet are what. Lying? They say it's bang on. What are your credentials?
