The Fire Chicken will live again. It's alive I tell you, It's Alive!!
I remember when you 1st took it into the shop. I was there 3000 years ago.
Never knew it was so labor intensive. If there was no wait, I'm guessing it is still a 2 to 3 week project. Can't wait to see the final product.
HaHa have you heard about "Project Binky" yet? They've been working on a mini for the last EIGHT years
@@Danny_Boel That mini is taking a ridiculous amount of time!
@@WorthlessWhips It sure does , but it's not a normal mini ...
@@WorthlessWhips Yes true, but they bring a new meaning to the word meticulous. Or maybe just very OCD.
@@matthewkeith8605 and very... brackety
Looking good! Exciting to see good progress after so many setbacks. You really stuck with it and its going to be awesome
Hope we get a cars of playboy episode next week. Really miss those
0:03 Winston, this eagle sound with the slow motion is perfect 🤣
My old neighbor and occasional babysitter had one of these back in the day. I was 9. So many great memories. Nice!
Yeah Winston. I worked in the auto glass industry for 20 years. I did a TON of body shop work, like pulling and re-installing glass parts. I remember the hardest part most often was just obtaining USABLE parts. It can take months just to get one part! I hope the chrome around the glass is good on your ride. That can be a nightmare to find AND install properly on a car of that generation. She is looking sweet already!
Winstons get away car for when the chinese gov attempt to assasinate him
'Onya worst Aussie PM we've had in the last decade!
@@brendanmatthys3788
That *may* be, but most Americans kinda like him. He's doing what we wish Biden *would* do.
@@brendanmatthys3788 have you forgotten Turnbull? Abbott? Rudd? Gillard?
They're all terrible 🤣
@@AY-vi2ld Rudd is a top notch man and you can't convince me otherwise. He made us the only first world country to not go into a recession due to the GFC. Gillard introduced the carbon tax which would've prevented us from being a laughing stock at the environmental summit. Turnbull didn't do anything at all, cause he's a bloody wet liberal, and Scomo's a bloody idiot who couldn't follow through with what he said he'd do if it saved his life.

Looking forward to seeing you drive your Trans Am!
I enjoyed learning more about the process of repainting a car - especially cars like yours.
Check out the Gunman's CZcams channel
I can honestly say I'm more impatient for Winston to get his car back than Winston is.
looking good! Can't wait to see the results.
Nice video Winston. The opening of the Bandit jump was done by my dear friend Raymond Kohn of the Northeast Ohio Dukes. The Trans Am jump he did was a tribute jump for the late Burt Reynolds and used a rotted-out 79 Trans Am to use for the jump. I was there in Carlisle, PA when he did the jump and I looked at the car afterwards, it was a rusted-out hulk that was not restorable. Great to see big progress on your 78 Trans Am buddy!
I don't think he was questioning it because of the choice of car. I think he was questioning it because... just _why?_
@@xenonram Yeah I figured. Just wanted him to know that it was a junk car. Alot of people sometimes can be misled.
Looking good! Time consuming, for sure. I was a professional body man for over 25 years, last 10 of it was focused on restoration and custom build. Lots of block sanding! Can be the difference between okay and spectacular. Everything I've seen on your videos looks like they are doing it in the way to lead to perfection! Going to look great and last for a very long time! Can't wait to see the next video!
That’s awesome
Boy that will be one smooth ride once it’s done.
So good to see things are coming along.... Finally !!!
They are doing it right . You want it done right, you have to wait. Excellence takes time
Love to watch the handiwork of true professionals. That's beautiful!
It looks really great! :D
Cool car. Winston needs to grow a big Burt Reynolds moustache before he drives it so he can cruise around in 70s style. 😎
I am glad you are happy.
Really looking good. I'm looking forward to seeing that paint job and ultimately the finished product. I'm excited for you as I know this is one of your dream cars.
It looks FABULOUS. You SAY you're not patient, but look at the result from being patient! Hang in there, the end is in sight.. But, then a new beginning, right? A path that has no end. From my personal experience, after this phase, I think you will feel more indifferent about your 'dream car,' which is healthy, frankly. When it's done, this period will fade into a dim memory. And because of your investment of time and money, this Firebird will just be a car you hold special affection for, and of which you will be the custodian for years to come.
This progress is so great to see. The car is looking like a car again. Very cool.
Waiting for a update on the paint job - I picked up a firebird in November myself, I have completed it now and it’s a black 1979 black trans am bandit clone with red interior. The car was silver . I would hope by now your car would be done.
The car is looking really good now. 😁👍
I love this generation of T/A.
Can't wait to see the finished product!!
Short but sweet! Good update, can’t wait to see the black mirror...
Love it! I’m an absolute car nut and love working on them, but bodywork is out of my wheelhouse.
Love all the channels! Currently have 3 MKIV Supras, 03 M3, 02 camaro SS. Good job finishing your projects that’s always the biggest issue.
progress is progress, looking forward to seeing this great car come together!
Hey, look Winston...I don't have a life so I'm waiting for your Trans Am to be completed as if it were my own.
Very happy for you my China and great to see an update at long last.
I really love the story and the channel bro, but you're KILLIN me with the vertical video! We expect much better from you! On second thought, there's also a chance the guy sent that to you.
I'd never shoot shoecam, that's the shop owner sending me updates
Can't wait to see her done, i been watching every video you made since you started this channel and for me the waiting for her to get done is gonna be the peak.
Wow, you're getting a really good good paint job. This car is going to be a stunner of course that's what you wanted it to be but, it will be. Keep up the good work I really appreciate what you and see milk of resent on all of your channels I realize this is your Whimsical one, but they're all really enjoyable. You ever get up towards Santa Cruz let me know beers on me
Great content here
I have shared your impatience ! Looking good and looking forward to seeing the topcoat.
Nice to see it being fixed right
Wow, they did a good job with that door alignment. I hope you're planning on investing in a gigantic rubber blow up hovering tube for around the car. You're gonna be _seriously_ paranoid driving near anyone! "Eh, eh, eh! Don't touch the paint!" You'll be that guy 😂
Hahaha, yeah
... drove one from Eindhoven to Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport) in under half an hour ! 😎😆
You have to be patient when restoring a car if you want it done right. All of those shows on MotorTrend do a car in 1-2 episodes. In actuality, it's 6-24 months and edited down. Garage Squad is an exception, but they aren't restoring a car, they're getting it in the road.
Looking good my man
It’s going to look amazing and a big hit in SoCal! ☀️ 😎 🌴
The jump you could see the wave 🌊 of the car being totalled going through the car
That is the thickest guide coat I've ever seen.
Me too
Nice to see progress.
That is going to be one seriously sexy whip! Well done man.
I'm seriously looking forward to the future high class, informative and respectful episode of cars of playboy. I'm sure there will be a few nice chin tattooed ladies for Winston if he's lucky 😉
Lol, only if we're lucky
LOL! Please nooo!
Looking good. Looking forward to your next Casa Playboy video. Take care and have a fun weekend.
Looking forward to seeing it when it’s done
Looking good!!!
Having one of those insomnia nights. It is the Phoenix, the Thunder Bird which arose from the ashes to live again.
After all the delays, if it is done right I bet you will hug the body shop manager when it is completed :)
I have not heard of a "guide coat" - here we would say we do tha aggressive bodywork, prime and start the final detailed touching up and sanding. Obviously a lot more pride in no flaws there.
Looking good.
Gawddamm this taking a long aas time. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait....and price.
If you pause it at 3:12 through 3:14 you can see the leading edge of the front left fender has some nasty waves in it. Hope they fixed that for ya!
If you pause it at 3:13 you'll notice the light is missing too. Hope they don't forget about that. Looks like the front bumper is missing too.
Winston runs a auto repair shop like me now? Awesome!
Winston, please install a hidden GPS tracker in this thing when you're done. Hopefully you'll never use it but it's worth it at less than $100/year.
(New Sub here) Just found your channel and I am truly enjoying the 78 TA transformation vids (binged watched all of them). I own a 79 WS6 W72 TA. Mine is also my dream car and has been for as long as I can remember. I was thinking last year about doing a series of vids on the tons of things I have done to mine. I still have plenty to do so maybe I will start doing just that. I only have a couple vids on my channel now but it's just me driving it. Keep up the great work and please do more vids on the progress. These birds deserve to be driven and enjoyed.
I'm thinking it's at least a $7,000 process, am I right Winston? It's going to be awesome when it's done though I can tell by the amount of Labor that's going into it and is deeply as the process is, you're really taking it down to the Bare Bones and building it up again not just sanding it down and slapping a paint job on it. Glad you're footing the bill and not me 😁.
While I am excited to see the progress, I'm pretty sure that I'm no where *near* as excited as you must be.
Once you get it back, please, *please, PLEASE* drive it carefully, and don't get it into any accidents!
If you had to choose: 1.) Get the fierce chicken on the hood redone. 2.) Get the fierce chicken tattooed on your chest. Which would you pick? Can we crowd-peer-pressure you into doing one of the two?
I have a new hood bird that's going back on
@@WorthlessWhips That's super exciting! For some reason I thought you were getting rid of the bird. I think the bird is awesome.
LOVE!
Slow, but getting there. Looking forward for next update.
Stay awesome. (and patient 🙄)
It’s looking fantastic man. I was excited to see that another video on the fire chicken had popped up in my feed.
Answer to the question: "Becuz MERICA!!"
Hey brother congratulations. They are doing a great job, you will be incredibly happy after that black paint and cut and buffed and you have the gold decals on. It will be nice and straight with great panel gaps. Really happy for you. Next if california will allow it swap in older casting 7 heads and a lunati cam with some rear end gears. You’ll be running 13s
Hell Yeah, can't wait for the new Play Boy and Cars episode.
Certified Gold!!!!!😎
Any updates looking forward to see finished job
Science isn't about why, it's about why not!
lel that ending^^
Good thing you have other vehicles to drive or you would be going crazy. Patience is a virtue, the Sistine Chapel wasn’t painted in a day same rule applies for the TA!
Pleased for you, awesome car.
I say it's about time it gets painted. Even I got p..... off due to the slow progress. Luckily you are quite a patient person. I would have gone ape already. But I am glad things are happening. Hopefully you will soon have the pleasure to drive it again. In the meantime you can buy a cowboy hat and grow a mustache like the late great Burt Reynolds for the day you get it back.
Winston there is insurance companies specifically for antique cars. you should look in to it. other wise you have an accident or something and they pay you a fraction of what the car is worth to you.
Wooo!
Answer to 0:01 ... Because 'Murica! haha!
I would so love to invite you to Nova Scotia Canada, to travel around Cape Breton using my 95' Trans Am Convertible in October when the leaves are changing. It's a fantastic drive, a 360 camera extended above the windshield could end up so popular ... hope to talk to you post Covid-19. Look at you tube footage and tell me what you think about the Cabot Trail.
Its always hard waiting on bodywork to get done but once its done it will look mint! Can't wait to see it all finished and shined up. Will you be getting PPF or ceramic coating after its done?
No updates since late April? What's the status Winston?
Nice...
lol how did I just NOW find out about this channel???!!!
The problem is once its completed you wont want to drive it so you don't mess up the paint. Can you imagine getting your car back, parking in a lot, and then someone dings your door? Are you going to put a wrap over bumper etc...?
Nah, I'm going to drive the crap out of it, any small nicks and scratches will add character!
Worthless Whips My man! 😎
Like watching grass grow, but grass grows much faster than this restoration eh?. 🤠
True
After all the time these guys have taken to work on your ride, it deserves a custom fire chicken that is awesome.
love old american cars
Im excited too and its not even my car ..😊👍
Fire Chickens are GO!
Hey, it’s been 4mo… where’s our update bud?!!
I couldn't have come sooner.
thanks for the updates! i need to know where is this bodyshop for my 1979 camaro.
looking for a trusted body/paint shop since years.
Hell yeah
the crash was perfect!
I wonder how much a professional job like this costs? also how much the project in total ends up costing.
Whatever it is, it's certainly worth it for your dream car 😊
I'll have a cost breakdown when it's done
@@WorthlessWhips cool, looking forward to that
@@WorthlessWhips At least 4k.
Are you ever getting this bird back??
After this step it doesn't take long.
This won't be a budget build now, huh?
Nope
