- During the Race1000 in Germany I have filmed a Ferrari 488 Pista on the 1/2 Mile! It racing against a 400HP Toyota Yaris GR and a Porsche 991 GT2 RS! Who will be the fastest? I hope you will enjoy the video.

Unpopular opinion here, I like the Yaris, its the Internets peoples champion. To me the drag racing videos of the GR Yaris hasn't been that impressive. Yes the 4wd helps, but In my humble opinion I think its not for drag racing its best at doing rallycross. No production car would come close to it in rallycross.
This is your opinion and i agree to the drag racing results BUT in the track yaris kill many european buckets with wheels.
The car is fine and all but you can’t expect it to win in higher speeds against bigger engines, even if the power to weight ratio is the same, the torque figures won’t. And has someone said in the past “hp can sell a car, but torque wins races.”
of course isnt impressive what do you want from a shitty engine there is no miracles, a 3 cilinder is an desiqilibrated engine

GR Yaris is not a straight-line monster, it’s a cornering, back-road monster, it’s a rally car that goes to 60 in 5.4 seconds, could be tuned to 3.9 seconds. It’s torquey, it’s handles better than any car, it wants you to drive into a corner quickly, it is not a drag race car. Horses for courses

@@quokkapirquish6825 there are a lot of wider and lighter cars. In fact Hagerty recently tested on Streets of Willow and the Yaris lost to an almost 30 years older Lancia Delta Integrale and it was much slower than other hatchbacks. It's a good car but not the best at anything.
9 out of 10 for some reasons, all these race videos with any Ferrari, the Ferrari always seemed to be asleep when the light turned green and the other car already left the line! Amazing....

EVERY Toyota Yaris driving around in Europe is build in France ....
Quality control is obviously thought by the Japanse mother company.
And some main parts are also from Japan.
If you where really interested you would have know that by now (it’s going for 20 years now)

They should do the Ferrari vs the Yaris in a short rally cross track
Ferrari will be introduced to a tree on the first sharp turn.
If you think the Yaris is an actual rally car you are confused. Is an AWD homologation for the street. To make it useful in a rally track you need suspension, tyres and wheels mods.

The great thing about Japanese cars is that you can go shopping with your mom at the mall and then go straight to the race. And the driver is his mother. She doesn't need to come up with a million dollars.

Drag racing is about the company that mods the cars. No stock car could beat a well moded drag car.

With a tune and some little mods it's not hard to get that car to 400hp

@@albertt7784 it already has 253 horsepower, you can get a cold air intake, a new exhaust a tune and other basic mods and it'll be at 400 easily
Its a GR version, off the shelf it already has pretty high HP

You dont have full boost until 3rd gear. At least thats what inboard boost gauge says.

The 488 Pista *isn't* a hypercar, but a track-focused GT. Hypercars, on the other hand, are modern Bugattis, post-2010 Koenigseggs, Hennessey Venom F5, SSCs, etc., while the GR Yaris, is a *homologation special rally car* (hatchback is a body style, *not* a car type)
