Sister, I am familiar with the pros and cons, I have many coworkers and friends from Gambia 🇬🇲, yes they have shared similar experiences with their families living in Gambia.
I believe poverty plays a part in the thief, even though it is a Muslim country, which is very sad.
Bullying maybe consider discipline and acceptable in the culture 🤔, which is traumatic for any child.
Hygiene is a huge problem, maybe lack of education, hopefully things get better.
Many people travel to America from different countries for better quality health care, especially if one is a visitor, care is free in most States.
YOU, are a very strong person, caring for eight children of all ages. It would be easier for everyone if your husband was living with you all. Both parents supporting each other and the children will benefit having both parents.
Maybe your husband will reconsider and move his business to Gambia 🇬🇲🤔, or maybe online, depending on his business 🤔.
Together, you all will make it through anything with the help of Allah. It is sad you had to leave the US 🇺🇸, for various important reasons.
May Allah make it easier for you and keep your family safe, healthy and together.
I wish ONLY the best for you and your family by Allah's Grace and Mercy. Doowahs can move mountains ⛰.
The Jihad you are going through for your children will be rewarded by Allah Almighty, Ameen.

Okay I'm Gambian and I've been living in Switzerland for a long time now, I understand what my sister is talking about with regards to the cons. I know it's gonna be hard for anyone to adjust to the life style if you're used to the lifestyle in the west because it's a different standard, we are not there yet but I'm hopeful we will one day. The only thing I don't agree with you is when you said " most people don't believe in germs" I found that statement misleading because Gambians do believe in germs. And cleaning the kitchen with the same cloth you cleaned the bathroom? Well that is something new to me as someone born and raised in the Gambia. And I'm not denying that you've seen it but that must be an exception, I mean come on we are not illitrates we know all about germs and contaminations.

    • @gallanero
      @gallanero Před rokem +8

@Maimounah Faizon LOL sister I will connect the dots for you don't worry😂....we are living in world so connected that not knowing about germs is basically illiteracy. And if illiteracy for you means someone who haven't been to either western or eastern educational system then your definition of illiteracy is wrong in my opinion. Yes we might be unlettered in some educational system but definitely not illiterates, so you saying "the great deal of people are illiterates" is completely wrong, that's a western way of describing people who don't adhere to what the west believe is education. And I'm not kidding.

      Muslim
Teachers were not so barbaric and I had a good experience as a kid in madrasa. We got disciplined but also loved by the Aalims.
Some schools in Kenya don’t cane the kids at all, depends with the area perhaps and the family
You come from. They fear rich kids.
Perhaps Gambia is better as they don’t care whether you are wealthy or not.

The 5 cons you mentioned are the top 5 cons keeping most Gambians in the diaspora from moving back to The Gambia. I left the States with my kids for the first time to visit and all of them got sick to a point I got panicked. My advice to you is to buy as much medicine as possible from the States and avoid using the medication sold in some of the pharmacies over there. Recently they had a kidney outbreak which killed many children due to fake medicine imported from India over 80 children died and until now no one got arrested, fined or fired. Just to let you know this is the type of government presiding over you, they care less about law and order, fighting corruption and good governance. Regarding the Quran teacher you want to hire to teach your kids make sure you get a female teacher is safer. Sorry for the lengthy advice I hope it helps.

Bullying is a normal part of America culture too. That’s why we have gun violence in our schools. Both America and Gambia are very sorry for allowing this. Bullying is not normal because it can lead to
suicide and school violence. Anyone said bullying is normal need their head examined. No one likes to see their love ones pick on at schools and come home crying. As long as Gambia schools allowed it, they will be right behind America. I see where their schools are going. Gambia don’t give a damn about their children just like America don’t give a damn about their children. If you care, you wouldn’t see a child get mistreated.

Bullying is really sad. Alhamdulillah here in UK I find children from Africa are lovely, I know mostly Somalian kids and they are all very polite and nice with kids and adults. If you have money you can pay for a good hospital but still not at the level of what we are used back home. Public hospitals , forget it. The sad thing is that Muslims used to be leaders in the medical field if we look back at our history.
There is bullying here but not as much, the main thing they like to do here in schools are give gifts and praises for everything. It’s something I’m not used to at all nor do I think is a good thing, kids should be given gifts and praise when it’s due. Not for any little thing.

  • @journeytothemosthigh5021

This was very informative! I agree with all the pros. Peace of mind in that sense is priceless! As for the cons… I’ve heard of nightmarish things from people who’ve experienced hospitals on the continent. My daughter included! Even in the nollywood films they send their family away for treatment in Europe mostly. Btw.. the US does not have the best healthcare by far.. Cuba has much better healthcare and it’s free. I know of someone who is from the states who raised money to have major surgery in Germany and she raves about the quality of treatment that she had and she went twice! They even had a Mercedes Benz pick her up from the airport!! Not to mention the food as well!
The internet is always hit or miss but, you are so right!… the theft is disgusting!!!! I’ve seen more poverty in other countries and have never been treated like an atm or anything like that in those places. All over Africa, there needs to be heavily enforced sentences for theft and other crimes. So heavy that one would think twice before committing them. For a country to call themselves religious, it doesn’t seem as if those beliefs are really apart of their everyday life. The bullying is plain disgusting. I recall the BAG family’s young daughter mentioning that she was bullied in school. The mindset is not just in The Gambia unfortunately. It’s truly a shamed because when that mindset remains, it’s only to their destruction. They are easily manipulated but others that they trust more and those people are working to change the face of Africa. These are major things to maneuver through however, stay encouraged!

There were so many things we've experienced with Healthcare that I could make it a separate video. I probably shouldn't, but I have so many experiences within the year we've been here.
I have to agree with you when you say that the religion is not being put to practice when it comes to the behaviors you've mentioned. As a Muslim it's still comforting to be surrounded be people who share my core belief. It's disappointing and disheartening that yes, these are the same people breaking into houses, robbing businesses etc. I'm staying encouraged sis! Thank you❤❤

One guy had food poisoning and ended up dead!!! No family there so as in true medical form, when there is no representative they do what they want. That person becomes the Guinea pig.
It was disheartening for me to see a lack of daily religious practice there and I’m not Muslim! I was just telling my daughter that I don’t recall seeing anyone going to the mosque nor do I remember hearing the call to prayer after the first one in the early morning.. and we lived near a mosque! When we left and lived in the UAE, that is when I saw true religious beliefs being incorporated into everyday living. It encouraged me even to pray more and be more proactive in my faith. Asalamu Alaikum Wahrahmatullah Sister. Be mindful of the hospitals and the antibiotics sometimes they abuse it and some of these nurses still need more training they lack empathy so the best you can do is to communicate and don’t get tired of communicating because it’s your life and only you know how you feel. With the kids bullying kids here have aggressive play and if you are new to their circle it takes time before they get used to you. With regards to the germs it’s the lack of awareness they are used to doing it that way they were not taught about the harmful effects of poor hygienic condition some do know but some due to the poor background they coming from they are not that aware most aren’t that sensitive and conscious about their environment. Some people are just surviving and not living due to poverty and because of that the don’t pay much attention to certain things. I know some of these things are a culture shock but you will get used them In Shaa Allah at the same time communicate that’s the only way you can make them aware too.

My daughter was hospitalized in a third world country. She still has stomach issues. Even the private hospitals aren’t that clean. Working without medical gloves.. the list goes on. The scary part is people actually getting in accidents and having to have surgery, then being messed up for life.

It depends with where you go to be honest. Don’t brand the entire third world unhygienic because even here in the U.K. healthcare staff don’t wash their hand or always wear gloves accordingly.
Some Drs in the third world are amazing and very experienced and their local hospitals may be even better than private.
Some private hospitals are also very very expensive as well. So probably try one of those if you want similar treatment to that of the west.

Important to her, and plus she said ,her kids don’t wanna come back just visit for like three or four days and then come back to The Gambia! The children said they feel free over there .they don’t have to worry about getting shot .by the police Like in ,america, they said they get to play outside and be free .and walk to their friends, house . can you do that over here in the states you gotta worry about child molesters pedophile sex trafficking kidnapping the whole nine !so I’m with her on letting the kids.stay over there ,don’t bring them back ,the states! and she homeschooling them now ,so it’s gonna be good .and she got family there and her mom is there to help out. it’s over 20 people that came with her ,that’s already there to help her, so she got a lot of hands on deck ,it’s the husband that works crazy hours or something I don’t know but she is going to be alright 😊🔴⚫️🟢 ❤️🖤💚📌.
