Masha Allah. May Allah continue to protect you and your family. Ameen ya Ruub. I'm glad you addressed the issue of feeling like a target in The Gambia. Most of those non Muslim women who were targets in The Gambia seem to have been involved in unhealthy lifestyles from the very beginning and perhaps that's okay in America, because of Western laws, etc with a Western mentality but unhealthy lifestyles in The Gambia or anywhere in West Africa is not a good idea and that can cause trouble or worse. Jazak Allah kir.

It's so sad that much of the violent crime done in Gambia isn't committed by Gambians, but the Gambians get blamed for it. It's hard for people from the outside to understand that there has been a whole movement of foreigners not just from the west, but also from other African countries that has been and continues to be contributing factors to increasing crime rates. It's so frustrating seeing videos from people who aren't even in Gambia "explaining" what's happening in Gambia.

BarakAllahu feekum Sister, you have spoken the TRUTH with great WISDOM(Hikmah) and given good ADVICE(Naseeha).
In Islam, the Man has AUTHORITY over the Woman, as DECREED by our Lord, Allah(swt). Believers DON'T question this.
He(swt) has also DECREED that the Woman has primary responsibility over the children and the household; but also has a duty to protect her husband's property.
It is therefore great that you, with the support of your husband took the initiative to move your children out of harms way, in fulfillment of your responsibility.
This is a great lesson for other Muslim women out there.
Married couples in a similar situation like yours should always discuss issues and try and come to an agreement, but there are situations where it may be necessary to part ways for the sake of one's religion, which has priority over every thing else.
Lastly, as a Muslim, who migrates for the sake of Allah(swt), and integrates into the society, one is safe wherever you go, and only what is DECREED for you, will befall you.

No offense, but I haven't seen a dirt road in years. I have been through too much to go back in time. I love my constant running water and electricity. If they dont have that, my black ass is staying in the US. I be dame if I choose to suffer over my comfort.

I used to feel this way years prior to moving. I would argue that most Americans do feel this way. I'm so happy I gave it a chance because no comfortability in America could bring my family the peace we have here.

@summersinafrica I have to agree. I grew up with the comforts and conveniences and have only spent 3 months on the Smiling Coast. I stayed in the country close to Barra. I prefer the spiritual riches and the worldly struggles over the worldly riches and the spiritual struggles. It seems like here in the US, I have both worldly AND spiritual struggles. So busy working trying to make ends meet and doing the daily duties that there is no time for self care. Everything is like a scheduled routine with little room for enjoyment.
I hope they are getting the ferry service maintenanced for safety sake.

@summersinafrica Do Ghana have a military (Army, Navy, Airforce)? If not, then it's just a sitting duck. How can they protect their citizens from foreign invaders?
