    In this video I will walk you through a customer project here at #brigadeboats . We are working on a #basstracker Pro Team 165. The project scope of work was a full gut job, replacing floors and front deck in sheet aluminum, custom framed aluminum front deck and redesign, added storage hatches, rewiring the boat, adding Fuse box and gang switches, all new carpet throughout, and lastly upgrading the livewell. That, is what this video is about.
    In this video I will go in depth and show you step by step, how to upgrade a factory livewell in a boat with a Variable livewell timer and pump to recirculation the water in your livewell. This will increase your livewells performance in keeping fish healthy, especially in tournament conditions. This video is shot on a Bass Tracker aluminum boat but this same process can be used for any boat with a livewell that needs water recirculation/aeration. I will show you all the products needed to complete this upgrade. Through the project documentation you will see all the tools used and I will clearly show you how I do this job. There will be tips and tricks along the way. This project is a half day deal, take your time, do it right. Thanks for watching.

    I have a tracker 185 and it has a small compartment on each side of the livewell. I’m guessing I could do this but coil up a lot of that recirculating hose in one of those side compartments and fill with ice to try to cool the livewell. Do you think that could work? I would probably have to figure out how to insulate the small compartment though.

  • @waynesammyswingle6107
    @waynesammyswingle6107 Před 2 lety

    Thought. Since you had to make the hole for the pump would it really have been an issue using the hole saw since you were going to end up making a bigger hole anyway? Just asking because i am about to do this and would rather use the hole saw, but now I am wondering if there is something I am not thinking about. Thanks

    Great video, and great job. Thanks for sharing. One question though, whenever I run any wire or hose through a hole in aluminum, I always put a rubber grommet in so it's not cut into. Were you not concerned with the drain hose possibly being cut into over time?

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před rokem

      No I wasn't. It was a clean cut. Can use deburring tool or a bit of sandpaper to round. Hose went straight through, no pressure or kink on it to rub. I do use rubber edging or grommets, just time and a place and feel they are not always necessary. Just me, you do you.

  • @USAFTACP

    What's the purpose/benefit of a recirculating pump in a livewell over just the fill pump with an overflow pipe in the livewell?

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před rokem

      Oxygen keeps helps the fish stay alive. Similar to a fish tank. All modern bass boats have livewell recirculation built in now.

    • @danielturbide1973
      @danielturbide1973 Před rokem +1

      Could you simply have added the aerator timer with the fill pump and added an overflow pipe? This way the livewell gets new oxygenated water as per the timer setting? Does the water get more oxygen from an aerator or from renewing the water? In any case, very neat setup there!

    • @workinprogress6726
      @workinprogress6726 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yeah there should be an overflow to get out old water and bring in new lake water. Recirculation does no good to just recirculate dirty stale water. My bass tracker just has a pump/aerator (single inlet) with an overflow. So it's get oxygen and fresh water at the same time.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před rokem

      Yes. Livewell fill is controlled by pump at the transom. Livewell Recirculation is controlled by the pump at the livewell. Both separate switches

  • @lugnutzz75
    @lugnutzz75 Před 3 lety +1

    My bass tracker has a spray head and a piece of pvc on the drain hole that holds it about 85% full and acts as an overflow.

    • @thegeneral1100
      @thegeneral1100 Před 2 měsíci

      That how they’re supposed to work. No recirculating required, water pumped in, excess goes out overflow stand pipe and out the drain.

    I plan on remodeling a 16’ Lund. Don’t plan on even including a live well. In my state (Minnesota) do to laws and having to dump all water after your on your trailer, a live well serves no purpose. A cooler with ice is now preferable in my case.

    I have a question, I’m doing the same on my boat but where the pump is located I have to run a hose from the back of the live-well to the recirc pump which is located near the transom due to the gas tank location is so tight I can’t mount the pump straight to the live-well itself so I’m getting a 90 degree through hull fitting and I’m going to add that to the live-well, will the have to be mounted up mid ways above the main line-well drain so the water will flow down to the pump located near the transom and was wondering your opinion, you think it will have enough pull to recirc the water back up thew the hoes if I mount the fitting up higher from the bottom of the main drain hole?

    One thing I don't get I see how it moves the water around and the timer for how long it stays on and off but I don't see how the water gets in the live well in the first place is there a switch you have to hit to pump the water in it then do the timer and all that

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes. Sorry, I quickly explained in beginning, from factory it has a pump that pumps water in. It is on a separate switch. One pump fills. One pump recirculating and pumps out.

    Why not set it up like saltwater boats, outside waterline up, with overflow, fresh water in, old water out, need outside pick up plate so it picks up water when underway, your screen pick up won't pick up when underway, saltwater bait won't live with recirculation set ups, but live all day with outside pick up/with overflow
