      Lucas White I will be doing a walk thru video of my framing set up. It will not be a step by step on this build because I built framing before I started CZcams. So, I will do a walk thru of what I have and how I did it and why. Hopefully it can clear some things up and help you out. Not exactly sure when I can do it as the boat is kinda at a stand still now as we are moving. Stay tuned though!

    Really enjoy your videos and can hopefully use them for my own build. I noticed Michael Lopez used 2x4s in his build, do you see any sag with the 2x2s? And how did you frame the back deck? Did you screw the 2x2s into the bench seat and then the transom?? Thanks for all the content!

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před 4 lety

      2x4s is overkill and double the weight. Not necessary if framed properly. Id suggest watching my framing video for more info on how I framed. Rear is tied into bench and transom. I will have new videos coming out soon showing in detail how I rebuilt my rear end from start to finish to accommodate my new motor and battery setup. Also suggest following on Instagram for highly detailed pictures and more build info.

    I actually have a lot of questions to ask you. I just bought my first boat...a 1978 14' Mirrocraft. It is very basic and I'm beginning the planning of how I want to build it out. Is there anyway I could email you and pick your brain for some ideas? I love this livewell you did and want to do something similar. I'm also adding some LED lighting, quite a few things. Would love to get some ideas from you about my concepts, and if you think anything I'm wanting to do will destabilize my boat or have any negative side effects. Thank you. Great video.

    Nice build on you boat, and good video on live well. But there are some thing you could have use to cut cost on it and still have good quailty parts. Almost all garden hose is braded and come in standard ID size of 5/8" and 3/4" $12 saving just in hose cost. The Flo-Rite 2 port value $35 I think you said. You can use a garden hose Y-value that cost $4 - $5 saving of $30. And you spent $29 for your tote, when you can get the same size tote at Wal-mart for $8 savings of $21 for a total saving of $63 or about 1/2 you total cost....
    For all you thur-hull fittings that you use internally like in a live well you can use Electrical "wet" fittings. Thur-Hull fittings are $10-$15 each electrical wet fittings (excactly the same thing) are $2-$4 each. The spray nosal are $12-$15 if you buy sperate (You got yours in a kit) But they are not very effective as a Aerator. You can use 3/4" PVC pipe and drill small holes down the lenght with a PVC cap on the end, make a very effective aeration system..
    I'm not knocking you or your build but just giving you and others imformation on how to cut cost but still have the same quaility in a live well. I'm now into my for live-well build which is how I've came to know about what to use to save money on them. Most i found out after I spent more money then I needed to...Here a link to my second live-well that I used PVC ball values that are $10-$15 each before I stumble apond garden hose and all the different fittings you can get for them...czcams.com/video/q_p_X97E2o4/video.html

      Pat Fleming , appreciate the feedback. I personally would rather spend more money on higher quality parts purposely made for a said application. The Flo rite nozzle was a huge deal because you push or pull the nozzle out for recirc or bilge out. This completely eliminates the Y valve mod which cleans up the entire build. Eliminates the Y valve gave me the option to mold the cooler in completely and eliminate an access to a Y valve. As for the tub, unless walk Mart sells the one I bought specifically for less, the standard tub dimensions are completely different. Which means I would have had to cut one in half or heavily modify it to make it the dimension I needed. Believe me, I did much research to find the specific height, width, and depthfor the one I used. Plus, this plastic is a heavier duty rating. I personally would rather spend a little more, in this case 50-75 bucks, and have exactly what I need and know what will work best as opposed to cutting cost for what I truly believe would be a sub par product. I'm simply showing what I used and why, up to you or the viewer to decide if that is a route you'd like to go or not. Part 2 will show the finished product or on my insta gram @ adubjones, there is a picture. I believe the results speak for themselves. Thanks for the input though.

    • @FirstLast-dv3ed
      @FirstLast-dv3ed Před 6 lety +1

      Anthony Jones I wasn't knocking your build. Just was pointing out other options. As far as Flo-Rite value vs Y value. A metal Y ball / gate value is higher quality then ABS plastic Flo-Rite value.. As far as the other's like the electrical thur-hull type fittings are designed to past building codes National wide for all type of construction. So you wouldnt be cutting corners on quaility just saving a little bit of money that you can use elsewhere in your build. You inside bench measurement was 11-5/8 w x 11-3/4" h x 36" L or close to it.. My first livewell I put inside my center bench. The odd width is what is hard to find in a tote but WalMart does have one the is the exact width of my bench....

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před 6 lety +1

      Pat Fleming I understand you weren't knocking the build. Like I said, I appreciate the feedback. Again, I prefer the Flo rite over any Y gate mod based off the design alone. It allows you to adjust between recirc and and bilge out by simply pulling the nozzle in or out. in a compact build this saves space and eliminates an access for the Y gate as well as cleans things up. One thing I am all about is keeping it "clean". The Flo rite also comes with the thru hull fitting so technically I saved money on not purchasing one there. As far as the hose, due to mine being routed through the cooler box which will chill the water recirculating, which will also be a spot you can see visually when opening the cooler for drinks, I opted for a more visually pleasing hose other than a garden hose. I also like clear hose as to you being able to see what is going on inside the line. The issue I had was length on the tote. I needed a box that I could drop in without having to cut it length wise. The one i used was purely the perfect length for me to fit the cooler in beside it. I believe it was 28 or 30 inches. Could I have used something else? Probably. At the end of the day my livewell may not be how you have done yours and vice versa. I do 100% believe it was done to the best of my ability with parts I trust and did not mind paying a little more for ease of installation and piece of mind.

    I just subscribed, and watched until I couldn't hold my eyes open( late night). I have but one question. What is your framing made of...I mean all of it? I like the part about painting with oil based paint, and the 1/4" ply wood as I'm trying to keep the weight down in the one I'm working on. I ask because nearly every video I've seen is using 2x4 frame work, and your appears to be much smaller. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  Před 6 lety

      Gary Anderson I purchased true 2x4 (2 inches by 4 inches instead of 1 1/2 by 3) redwood. I believe it was 10$ per 8 ft board. Might have gotten 3 or 4, then ripped into a true 2x2. The redwood is naturally resilient to moisture and rot, like cedar, and extremely light weight. I framed everything in 2x2 redwood to answer your question. I sanded the framing for a smooth finish, then painted in oil based paint. The decking is 1/4 inch but I did coat it in fiberglass resin to add strength, make it water proof, and limit warping. Only thing there is you have to sand the wood, resin it, sand the resin smooth, then carpet. Hope this helps.
