In this video I show you the project, a Bass Tracker Pro Team 17. I'll give you a quick walk thru of the boat and briefly cover carpet prep. In chapter, I cover tools and materials needed for the boat carpet job. In this video, I demo two different types of carpet adhesive, as well as contact cement. We use 20 ounce bass boat carpet in this project. In chapter 2, I demonstrate carpet grain variation and how light reflection shows carpet in different colors. I'll go over the carpet a bit and show you how I cut it. In chapter 3, I will demonstrate step by step how I carpet an aluminum hatch lid. I go in depth here. In chapter 4, I demonstrate how I wrap a resin sealed wood part for a boat. I use carpet glue and show the stapling process as well as how I make a rolled corner. In chapter 5, I demonstrate how I wrap an aluminum deck within an aluminum bass boat. This deck has lid cut outs and a livewell. I'll show how I glue it down and cut out for pedestal base and lid returns. In chapter 6 I will show how I wrap the lid returns with carpet. This is a bit detailed but can be done easily using contact cement and my method as I demonstrate. At last, the boat carpet project is complete, and I give you a complete detailed look at the finished product!

Man best carpeting video ive seen with great tips.. Im getting ready to carpet a 1992 Skeeter bass boat and this really helps. Thanks
Thanks so much man, glad it helped 👊
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats yup... gives me the know how ... I subscribed to your channel.. great job
Thanks man!
I have a pro craft 180 combo that I bought carpet for about 10 yrs ago. I'm intimidated every time I look at it. After watching this video maybe now I can start on it. Thanks for making Video for us.
DO IT
Thank you thank you thank you! You are the first one I’ve stumbled across that actually tells people to lay everything out the same direction. Looks like you do great work.
Coming from someone that has done auto and marine carpet and upholstery for 17+ years, I have a suggestion on some glue you can try that would streamline the process so much more. I use weldwood contact adhesive as well, but I use the landau top and trim spray grade adhesive, in my experience it is much better than a brush on glue because you can spray it and after about a minute stick it down without so much of a mess, plus it allows for a much more even coverage. It is a little bit pricier but you can spray it out of a standard gravity fed paint gun.
Also, I know this will be a controversial topic, but you honestly do not need to strip every ounce of old glue off. The way I see it, if after a sharp scraper and a brush goes over it and smooths it out and there is still some left, than that glue is not coming off any time soon, and it will not affect how the carpet adhesive sticks to a lid or floor.
Just my two cents, I know a lot of people will hate on it, but I always try and help out with advice when I can.
This is by far the best video I have ever seen and was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you.
Thanks! This showed me everything I did wrong laying carpet in my boat. I feel much better knowing how I screwed up just about every part of the process. 🤔
Anthony I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with your carpet video as well as the complete rebuild video of this bass tracker. Your attention to detail is above and beyond! I started a couple days ago with a 1997 bass tracker Tournament TX 17 that I've had for several years now, planning on a quick job of replacing carpet and not worrying alot about how well it turned out. Your videos have inspired me immensely. I can't begin to thank you enough for the time and information you put into what is obviously a huge passion of yours. I will know doubt be revisiting your videos. I am doing some before pictures and hopefully some after pictures. Would love to share with you. Again the work you do is amazing!
God Blessed you with real talent!
Nice man! exceptional work. I'm going a re-carpet on my dad's boat and your video is what i was looking for. I've never done a carpet install or anything like that on a boat. Thank you for this.
I have this exact boat and I just got my carpet from Amazon yesterday. I have contact cement and an exterior carpet. I replaced the floor with a sheet of aluminum and put a skin of aluminum over the plywood on the deck. I am adding some lighting and will build out the deck. Wish me luck! This video has been instrumental in my rebuilding my boat. Many years with my kids…..thanks
As always topnotch!!! Thanks for this, been waitin for it, now off to get mine done…thanks again!!!
THANK YOU for being so Thorough and providing so many Details it Really Helps me to understand how to Install Carpet CORRECTLY
Perfect timing for me on this, thanks for the detailed video. I watched this after carpeting my first 2 panels of a 16’ tracker so many to go. I was paying attention to laying out the carpet all north-south off the roll into the boat front back but didn’t pay attention to if I flipped a piece to south north...figured the grain was the same but your “50 shades of grey “ comments made me check and no doubt, even keeping the grain in line but flipping to south north is super visible so thanks again. I got lucky my 2 were ok but I had one ready to start that wasn’t!
PS regarding the contact cement. If you want to speed up application on a good sized project I might suggest DAP Weldwood Landau top sprayable version over the red can original. You can spray it from a cheap $20 harbor freight gun. Goes on way faster, more evenly and has quicker flash off. I think it’s what the factories all use, always looks sprayed to me. As a former car audio shop owner I upholstered a lot there and we always used it, when starting ,my boat I called DAP to ask and they suggest it over red can for boats, they said it’s more foe auto and outdoors, red is for countertops etc but obviously does work. You won’t find it in stores but Amazon etc has it. Just a thought
Love your videos Anthony. I'm restoring a 1436 Jon boat and your information is extremely helpful. God bless.
Best video on carpet I just did a bass tracker 17 came out so good. Followed your whole video awesome thank you
Fantastic video, as always! I just completed my wood-decked project, using the same TEC adhesive and spreaders. It's great that it is water-cleanup (as long as it is still soft), because that can save minor mishaps. One thing I did to prevent fraying of cut-piece carpet edges is to use a hot knife to cut all my carpet parts. It's slower, but it seals the edges as you cut. With just a razor knife, it seemed that the carpet wanted to fray a bit when cut with the grain...and I used the same 20 oz carpet as you have on this project.
One other tip...try a silver Sharpie when marking the back of the carpet -- they are amazing.
I love watching a perfectionist / artist. Thank you for an excellent video
This video gives me the confidence to recarpet my 18' boat. Thanks for the detailed explanation
Just got my first bass tracker. 18 Ft Pro Team Tracker. And of course it needed the decks and carpet all redone. Thanks for the tips and tricks buddy. I was a little puzzled by how I was going to do the deck lids and channels around those lids. But you made it look easy man and I can do just about anything so should be easy enough. Great tutorial man. Thanks so much for the great video and your ability to explain things. Cheers brother now go hit the water and enjoy.
Nice job and thanks for sharing, That looks like a brand new boat brother!
Bad ass job man. Thanks. Doing mine this week as long as the carpet and seats get here in the next couple days

I've been looking for this video foe awhile now. there's lots of videos but they all skip the little details like corners and folding etc. I have a old lund I bought and it's a mix of aluminum and wood and this video showed me everything for the carpeting. thanks so much. And man it looks good
Thanks so much, man. I'm very glad it was of use. A lot of work went into making the video, and it makes it worthwhile to hear positive feedback. Sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate the support.
Great video, thanks a learned a lot . any chance you making you way out to NJ ? it would make for a good video
Awesome job and great video.
Appreciate it👊
Have you ever tryed to pull the back casting decking off of a tracker? I have to do some work under there and was wondering if it was possible.
It's possible. I haven't on a tracker yet but have on a Lowe
Awesome job brother!! Great tips and techniques. My Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW needs this. Factory carpet just doesn’t last long.
Thanks man, appreciate it. Hopefully youcan rework yours.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats One thing I noticed on my boat and other how-to videos. The carpet on the hatch openings doesn’t wrap under the frame lip. It actually stops at the bottom of the vertical so the carpet wrapped under the hatch sits on bear aluminum. I suppose that is because there doesn’t need to be double thickness there. Just an FYI thing for ya.
Excellent video.
Thanks!!
WOW! lots of great info. I am going to do a 1992 Basstracker Pro 17. almost the same boat as you have here. Only one question, how did you screw the wooden decks down and not have the screw heads showing?
Learned a bunch of tips!
Awesome, thanks!
Thank you this really helped
Appreciate you 👊
Thank you for your craft I appreciate the art of carpeting and trim work. I have seen all I need to know.
By the way, I will let you know how it turned out.
Thanks so much for positive feedback and please do 👊
Man you did a finominal jod! I really like the attention to detail. Great job.
Much appreciated! Thank you👊👊
Awesome video! Did you use the Platinum color?
Damn bro you do some bad ass work
Thank you man
Anthony, Have you ever glued rug or marine vinyl flooring to PVC sheeting. I used 3/4" PVC for my boat floor. Now I need to glue on flooring . What do you recommend for this application.
Where did you find the center console shown at the end of the Tracker Boat Carpet video. Looks like a very nice center step.
I would like to move two batteries up front by my trolling motor and would like to cut in a compartment for each on both sides of my pedestal seat. Where can I get the prefabricated hinged compartments. Yes I might as well re-carpet the rest of boat while I’m at it. Thanks in advance.
Badass bro...
Appreciate it
Good job bro
Appreciate it!!
I just did my 94 17ft xpress built all aluminum front deck extension found hatchs like my boat has on ebay i recarpeted it looks new now even carpet decals
Nice!!!
I would like to know your opinion on the bassboat progator boat? thank you
Hello Sir do you have a video on how you did the inside of the compartments?
You’re awesome dude! Wish you would do my 2019 Bass Tracker 195 TXW! 🤙
Thanks man, wish i had enough time to do everyone's boat!
Now this was good. I never even thought of the front to back layout. I am in the process of doing a 16ft 96 Sylvan sea monster ( more like a sea Guppy really). I am trying to figure out the flooring. It sat for years. After we cleaned out 2 feet of leaves trash bags full of who knows what ...did find some used diapers as well. So clean out took days. Cut out the 20 wood panels and covers. They were in bad shape. But the sub floor was marine grade 1/2 inch plywood. It remarkably are in good shape. Washed it down and I am stumped. I am going to recarpet all the cut outs in 20 ounce marine carpet. But what to do with the floor. It's all riveted down. So I don't have panels to pull up and redo. Thought of going with Kiwigrip paint. But it won't look to good in my opinion. I guess I will have to pull out the driver's console so I have an open flat surface to work with. Any thing different you should do on the floor than the panels?
Yes, I recommend Hydroturf or Sea Dek. It's eva foam material with 3m adhesive backing. I have been using it on some of my recent builds. I would not recommend getting an imitation product. Hydroturf or SeaDek
Howdy, do you recommend 16oz or 20oz carpet for my bass boat? Thanks!
I've seen you apply marine carpet to aluminum, wood and fiberglass... my bass boat raised platforms are thick black plastic... what type (detail name of product adhesive) used to stick 20oz marine carpet to plastic platform. Your help would be greatly appreciated 😁
Where did you get the new screws and rivets for deck and hatch lid hinges ?
Exceptional job! What does a job like that cost a customer on a boat that size ?
Hey sir have you ever tried the razor blades with the hooks on the ends? They work way better than regular razor blades and are designed specifically for cutting carpet. Great in depth video
I haven't. I have some actually but always used them for cutting roofing shingles. I'll give them a try. Thanks
Anthony
,after you recarpet the wooden deck how do you hide the screw heads so they don't show when you screw it down?
amazing video....very informative....thanks!!
Hey I have the same boat and I am carpeting it. I ran into an issue when I used the same context cement that you do. The carpet is not sticking well is there anything that you could recommend I have already tried putting wood blocks to secure it better, but it still comes undone. Thanks
What’s the gap used with 20oz carpet on a wood deck? Was it mentioned or did I miss that
What material would I need to do a 09 triton vt17
Where are you located? What is an estimated cost to recarpet a 16 foot bass tracker panfish boat? Thanks
you ever try 3m super 90 ,,,,i’ve had excellent results with that ...one of the larger cruiser boat factory’s is close to me and they have used 3m 90 for all of their boats forever
I haven't. But I will definitely look into it! Thank you for mentioning!
I have the exact, what would cost to get my boat carpet replace?
Dang this turned out great. I am about to do my 89 Ranger bass boat. I need all the help I can get.
Here to help man! Lots of videos on my channel aimed solely to help you on your project!
If I did a carpet job as you have done here what would I need to charge? Do you have a price per foot of boat?
I'm a subscriber and I'm having a problem installing carpet around the bezel & shifter on my tracker. Do you carpet around the throttle or remove the shifter all together ? I'm a little confused about how to do it...
Thanking you in advance, Butch
I typically remove whatever I can to carpet. The throttle control was removed in the boat in video to carpet the panel.
멋지네요
very nice video
where are you located? I have an Alumacraft that needs new carpet.
36:14 could you tell me where I might find a center console like that? I’d like to replace my center seat with one.
Did you ever find it? I think I want one too, but haven't found anything even close yet.
Do you do this for anybody or just certain people you know?
Where do I get replacement plastic piece that the trolling motor plugs into mounted into the bow ?what would that be called?
different ones on Amazon. try trolling motor plug/adapter
My boat needs a recarpet bad but I don’t have the time. You wouldn’t happen to be in North Carolina would you?
11:35 i cried laughing !!!!! great vid plenty of good tips...
Not gonna lie, had to go back and watch! No, we don't wanna be high as crap doing carpet work lol
How much for something like this. Would love to send u my jon boat
I have a pro team 185 what width and length carpet do you suggest for recarpeting?
8.5x35'
I need to know, did you put the hardener in the resin when you were doing your boards to better waterproof them?
of course he did....without the hardener it would remain gooey
What length of carpet do you order to completely recarpet a 17’ Tracker?
I typically go ahead and get the 8ft by 30ft to account for verticals and inside comparts floor or walls. You should end up with a bit left over.
What thickness plywood do you use? Marine plywood or what kind??
1/2 inch exterior grade
Would this technique also work on a fiberglass bass boat?
Yes
How much carpet did that take and what would it cost to do a 18ft tracker jet boat
It's in the video. I think 30 ft. I go over it in detail in the video. Don't know cost.
The TEC specialty adhesive indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive listed / shown is no where to be found now. Any suggestions? Looking for this type or similar quality for best results
I've never had a problem getting it. Purchased from Lowe's
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats weird, it shows out of stock and has shown out of stock to be shipped or picked up locally for 2+ months now. Any alternatives that you are familiar with?
Where did you get the storage bin between the seats ?
Everything is linked in the video description
How much carpet did this boat take I have the exact boat I’m about to start doing?
i think i show somewhere in the video. I think we had 30 ft
How much is this job cost?
What color is the carpet 11 platnium ?
yes. Use code BRIGADE on the site and save 5% on your order
Took 25ft of carpet all mine layed directional
Where u located I need a boat done.
