Turbo LS swapped 4L80E c10 torque converter change
I needed to change the torque converter on my LS swapped c10 with a 4L80E transmission. Running boost with a factory converter I had a lot of turbo lag

Thank for youre video this is the only video on CZcams that says how too hook the ls cruise too the holley 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼not even holley knows how too do it
Thanks. Very helpful
Quick question. Does it matter which side the same terminal is? As in does it have to be on the battery side or it doesn’t matter if it’s on the starter side?
If I understand the question, it shouldn't matter since it is just completing the circuit
I put a DBC 5.3 in my 94 s10. I got my cruise control to work. Was pretty easy because both the S10 and my donor vehicle both had cruise. Was a little more than a plug and play but it was pretty easy to hook up.
I was looking at the US mags also. What are the specs on your wheels? Any fitment issues?
thanks i appreciate it
Español plis
So I saw that your TCC indicator light was on at idle. Is it the case that power is running to the TCC but it is not in lockup since the truck is parked?
Correct. And the vacuum switch isn't calling for it, so no power is going to the torque converter
Thanks a lot for the straight forward video much appreciated!
Thanks, I've watched 3 different transmission videos of yours and it helped me completely figure out what im doing
Glad it helped!
Perfect video!! 👍
Same process as replacing a tube on a bike. Thanks for pointing out how to tell whether its a tubeless or tube tire. That was useful to me. Also, I never knew what that little tool was that my dad had (and maybe I now have?), but you showed me. A tire stem tool. Pretty cool!
I think I was about 8 years old when my dad taught me how to bypass a solenoid on a ‘77 F100 with just a pair of pliers.
First off: GREAT video. Thanks for that. Second: what brand is that tester? That thing is awesome! Lastly: your son shouldn’t have any excuses in life, much less not to cut the grass. With a teacher like you, he could rule the world. Now I’m gonna go test my starter solenoid. 😊
Thanks for the compliments. The tester is an off the shelf unit from an auto parts store. Any store that sells fuses will have the tester. As for my son, like most kids, he doesn't think his parents know anything 😒
How did you bypass seat safety
I didn't. On this mower, you do not have to be seated to start, just to engage the blades
This is the best lil tutorial video on youtube! To the point, great explanations, good camera angles and easy to understand. This is how all of them should be done! Thank you
Thanks! I appreciate the compliment
@@avarageerod welcome. My husqvarna has 2 side posts on the solenoid. Any idea what those 2 would be for? One for sending power after making the safety switches and the other maybe for????
Without seeing it, I would think one is for sending power after making all of the safeties, and the other post might be a ground
Your video sure helped this old lady fix her mower! Ty
FIRST TO POST after seeing this cool video! Thanks!
Beauty in simplicity, thank you.
Are the relays necessary?
Yes, they momentarily pull what function is needed
So do you put the test light on negative side of battery. If its has a red clip on it
The alligator clip will go on the negative side of the battery
thanks for the video. Any particular reason you sandwich those nuts between the ubolt bracket? I see the instructions say not to but maybe you know something they don't.
There was no real reason, but it did keep the bar away from the differential cover a little
So does the wire from transmission go to nc or no
It will go to the NC
@@avarageerod I thought the wire running from the vacuum switch to the TCC pigtail was connected to N.O.
Can you help me how to get in contact with you
I used the superior adjustable vacuum switch and a hells timed relay, works very well
Dude. Thank you. Very informative. You should do this for living
I looked at the two reviews below and must agree. This is really the perfect way to diagnose a safety switch issue and if not that then a starter solenoid problem. This should be a very strait forward and simple diagnostic, but you are apparently the only person on Earth who can explain it easily. You have saved me an enormous headache.
Does it shift by itself automatically or do you have to shift it manually..?
It's shifts itself
Do you have to manually shift it or does it shift by itself..?
It shifts on its on
What size is the cold side piping?
It's 3" pipe
It looks like the bar ends are in the perfect position at 2:04 if you just cut the sleeves down to the needed length, and use a shorter bolt, you'dbe in great shape. EDIT: seeing the final install, it looks good!!!
Stepsides are the best looking of all '73+ C10
Great video. So I’m not getting a light on the 2nd post, so assuming I have a bad safety switch. You have videos on how to test the safety switches?
You can wire this in series: K058 Vac-Switch, 4th Gear Pressure Switch, the LOCKUP Defeat Dash-Switch, and the internal-solenoid on the 700R4 - run it all to the 12V supply and ground the internal solenoid; Averagerod mentioned a delay and yes you can buy a vacuum delay off of Amazon and it will delay the vac-switch to delay activation by a few seconds; For the torque-converter to lock in 4th gear: the dash-switch is closed, the oil-pressure switch is closed, the vac-switch is closed .. and that sends 12V to the solenoid which locks the torque-converter; there are other ways to do this; in the example here averagerod is running this to manifold vacuum; you can also wire it NC or NO .. as you see fit, and run it to ported vaccum; the vac-switch is expensive, but it is adjustable and high-quality;
Thanks for the clip! I"ve got an LQ4 going in my 66 C10, I installed this cam but haven't gotten it running yet! I like the sound of the Summit mufflers you're running. Is it too loud inside when going out the back? Thanks again!
I think the sound inside is just right. Not too loud, but you can still hear them
Good info! Thanks for the tips!!!!
It's similar to the reason lifters are a PAIN to remove from an old junkyard block, the old oil builds up in the spots that aren't making contact and creates a burr of carbon in the bore. The amount of oil crud that can fill the internal passages of a neglected LS are really amazing.
Where can I get that ac fitting?
What brand shock extenders? I dont have a flip kit done only drop shackles and hangers plus helper leaf removed...Can the sway bar be installed? THE 4inch bolt is what thread size? Nice
I bought the shock extenders from Brothers Trucks and the sway bar should work with your setup. I don't know the tread size of the bolt
Thank you!!!!!
Need a link to the vacuum switch.
This is the one I used Superior (K058) Universal Adjustable Vacuum Switch Kit a.co/d/4BDsSk2
Isn't one pin put for dbw relayed oned and the other dbc where did you put relays into I follow3d the non relay one and it don't work
Smart dude
Thanks for sharing your experience, emphasizes importance of new pick up tube in case of caked on oil debris unseen inside that could plug it too. Many variables. Melling 10295 n shim it, add assembly lube, works great. Thanks again.
What year C10
1981
What transmission are you running with your turbo?
It's a 4L80e
Thanks for such a clear explanation with visuals. My Dad would normally handle stuff like this but he passed away. And my brother is deployed. I can at least get the mower into the shop now and try and replace the solenoid! THANK YOU!
How did you mount the cruise control module to the firewall would appreciate all info on it Thanks
I just reused the screws that held it on the donor truck. Marked it on the firewall, drilled some small holes and screwed it on
great video im ordering the sway bar and you have a great point in using a 4 inch bolt the belltech
Thank you
Great video. I have the powerHorse 4000 that I use on the construction side little bit and I just change the Oil today for the first time I enjoyed your video and it’s identical set up😊
