I used the superior adjustable vacuum switch and a hells timed relay, works very well

    interesting.. great job explaining!
another option on that vacuum switch is. a microswitch. you can mount them in so many different places and there tiny.
    nice truck by the way!

Thanks. I thought about a micro switch, but for the ease of wiring and troubleshooting, I went with the relay. I worried too about a micro switch with being in the engine bay with temperature and being a wet location.

Just put a plastic check ball in the snowt of the lockup solenoid. It will lock for 2nd gear

Do you have a wiring diagram of what wire went to what (87, 87a...etc on relay) an the wires down to the trans an to the vacuum switch. (I have the stock vacuum switch) a 2 prong 4th gear pressure switch 3 wires coming out of the trans currently but when i put power to the hot wire i don't hear the solenoid click or anything. (I also just got the delay relay from amazon) oh yeah i also have a light for OD (Lockup) on the dash i want too. THANX

I do not have a diagram, but the easiest way to think about it is it's just one wire. It's just how many times do you want it to do something. Mine leaves my hot tap, toggle switch, brake switch, relay, then trans. My OD light is wired after the last thing before going to the transmission.

@@avarageerod I so get confused with a relay and now with a delay i get real stupid.
      So Trans Ground
Trans hot going to Vacuum switch (Split to Dash Light hot)(Dash light to ground)
Vacuum switch to Brake switch (HERES CONFUSING THATS A HOT WIRE)
brake Switch to 87 Relay (DO I WANT THE HOT HERE????)
Relay 30 Hot To Toggle Switch (on /off) from Ignition
      Relay 85 Ground
Confused on what is trigger for Relay 86???????
So that's what i'm trying to figure out

I'm not sure but this video might be helpful. It sounds like it covers what you need.

Hello I just put a 700r4 in my 88 Monte Carlo ss I followed the same thing you did ( all on the bench) I a couple of days I will be driving I hope. I have the same shifter you have do you have a full range of motion like park to fourth gear ?

    • @avarageerod
      @avarageerod  Před 3 lety +1

I do. If you're missing a gear on the shifter there might be a pin keeping the shifter from going that far. It for running a 3 speed transmission.
