There should be a stop when it is at the correct tightness on that frame mounted fuel filter…if it was tighter than you remember, you might have broken it (I’ve done it). Two small plastic tabs, very thin and brittle. I know better now, but I keep a spare bowl on hand with the water separator plug and drain now 😂 I’ve also found it helpful to have spare o-rings for that drain valve, too.
Also, I totally agree on changing them more often than not! I usually go every two oil changes, as I change mine every 3k miles. I waste a lot of money (running amsoil 5w-40 signature series diesel oil), but my oil analysis results are unbeatable for what I do with the truck. 😂
