    Looks great, excellent job, well thought out, it's a good thing those square body trucks have lots of room in the engine compartment. Do you think you lost hp running a full length exhaust pipe?

    I've been contemplating doin either a turbo or a NOS kit. Cheaper to go nos but gotta refill the tank. I think a good size turbo is my best bett in the long run. Starting with a stronger rear end and axles first. Then a 80e and converter. Maybe better heads while I'm at it...if I was smart I'd just spend all that on a paint job first then everything else. My 5.3 came from an 03 avalanche with 168k miles. Purs like a kitten.

      I debated turbo vs paint and interior. I have no regrets. I've had a lot more fun with the turbo than fresh paint and interior. If I had gapped the rings before I installed the engine I probably wouldn't have had any problems.

      @@avarageerod in my case I think I'll end up doing paint and body 1st. It's a 98% rust free Texas truck with alot of paint flake. Like to get it lined out before it get any worse. For A stock DBW 5.3 in a 82 c10 it hauls enough ass and does plenty donuts to keep me happy for a yr or so till I can start on performance.

    Hey Bud! Great Video. Are you using a Vintage air system to get rid of the factory A/C system? Considering a Turbo LS on my 84 c10 but don’t want to lose the A/C

      I used Old Air Products for my heat and AC because they were cheaper but I wouldn't use them again. The product is fine but it doesn't have floor heat. I didn't realize I would miss floor heat so much

    How did you keep vacuum brakes while adding the turbo kit?

    • @avarageerod
      @avarageerod  Před rokem

      I used a summit stage 2 turbo cam so there is still plenty of vacuum for the booster.

      @@avarageerod same cam here in my 76’. Does boost hurt the diaphragm? So I imagine the booster has pressure pushing in under boost and vacuum brakes start working correctly once you let off the gas? I’m just wondering how good the braking is going to be when at the line and foot braking on my 2 step. Piping is being finished now for hot side and still have to run my fuel system. One thing I never thought about was the vacuum brakes. Also wondering about 10-15 psi pushing in on the diaphragm

      @avarageerod  Před rokem +1

      @@bosco2023 I dont think your going to have a problem with the booster. There should be a check valve in the vacuum line for the booster so the diaphragm wont see any boost if it's working. You may notice a little spongey pedal with the 2 step but not enough to make a difference at the line
