'56 Plymouth Belvedere - 1st start in 20 years My friend bought a 1956 Plymouth Belvedere and brough it over to the shop to get it running again. After a day of rebuilding the carb, and soaking the Cyls in ATF, the motor would spin by hand, so i hooked up the ignition system, and got the engine to fire up, Ran amazingly smooth for a car that has been sitting for decades. Happy customer, Now do ...

Why dish soap and not silicone spray?
Straight to the point, no annoying music, no nonsense, great job! All others could learn from you...
To get them off i always light them on fire
Your first indication of a control arm bushing problem is a "thump" heard when you stop the car and release the brake pedal. One bushing will go before the other, of course. Check your shocks and struts too. They may be shot but you don't realize it because the car is so tightly sprung.
I have this "thump" sound end when i checked these bushings are indeed shot. Would it be best to replace the whole the whole lower control arm, or wouldn't that be necessary?
@@larsgilles3078 You can replace just the bushings.
@@tsmgguy Alright mate will do, thanks
Thanks for the help
Well done
Our 2004 has a different location for the test. It's a green cap and the universal test gauge schrader fitting doesnt fit. Been going bonkers trying to find the right size or adapter.
The green one is usually for Evap testing; that's the vapor from fuel tank- not to test if fuel getting to the engine; Hope this helps!
@@timelord2117 Yes, it helps. Thank you. I found a blue cap test port that measures the same (.30) as an adapter on Amazon and so I will order it and see if it works. We had work done on this truck and then they tried to upsell me on stuff and so I just took it home. Then second time trying to start it after getting it home it wouldnt turn over. It was kind of odd and seemed suspicious, but probably just coincidence. Eventually I got it going, but now I'm afraid to drive it without testing fuel pump. Anyway, thanks again for the tip.
I think there should be a better explanation of what that little metal plate is in the motor. I seriously doubt it is a "resistor". Also an explanation of why wrapping in foil should help accomplish anything. I would not embark on an unexplained repair.
Gracias por su excelente explicación. Desde Venezuela. Felicitaciones
Awesome!!! It worked for me, you are a master, a crack, a titan, thanks for sharing your knowledge with others and have a blessing life my friend,,,
Awesome show 👏..
I'm a put this bad boy on this bad boy and then I'm a screw this bad boy on to this bad boy and what a bad boy it is now.
Thanks!
Horrible video. Don't show shit.
What a botch repair with aluminum foil - have fun if your car burns down because of a possible cable fire
How did you remove the air duct????
A little water with the dish soap worked better for me. Slides easier
Thanks a lot. I fixed mine with the same procedure.
... you know you can use a puller for that bushing instead of wrestling with it for so long.
How many hours would it take a professional mechanic in a well equipped garage to change an automatic transmission on a Saab 9-5 2.2 tid 2005? Anyone? 🤷🏻♂️
What's the name of that defective part?
Mine were way tighter that’s that, had to have them pressed on by a shop
the whole point of showing the repair is showing it start to finish. dunb ass
Right under here. Bad photo work. Where's the "here"?
Hey. I've got an '88 Carrera and I know from the noise and slop in the shifter that this is my issue. I just wanted to be clear on how to remove the console from around the shifter to gain access. Would you have anything you could point me to? Thanks.
I'm with ya Bill. My 87 does the same thing. Did you ever find how to remove console and complete this job?
This is neat, but I feel like it's masking a bigger problem. The plate seems to function as a thermistor. The thing is, it shouldn't heat up to cut-off in the short period it takes to pop the lock. If it does, that indicates an overload condition. Rather than modifying the motor, I'd make sure the load on it is as small as possible by simply lubricating everything. Getting rid of that old caked orange garbage in there and replacing it with new, clean white lithium or silicone grease would probably do wonders. Take a can of lithium spray-grease and put a thin coat on the locking mechanism itself, too. The motor can also be lubricated (sewing machine oil and the like would probably be best), but you gotta be careful to not use too much and foul the brushes.
Can someone tell me if is a difference between the right one or left one or they are same? Because i have a bmw e46 and i need to know, someone just tell me that i need to change it and i dont know who it is the right one or the left and i dont want to buy the wrong one......
They have a specific mount hole for the left and right plus you need to place in the right orientation
Dank u voor het mooi filmpje het heeft geholpen 👍
Good job
Don’t be cheap and buy the pair $14 on eBay
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks thanks thanks for you
I used a toy motor from Lego kit, works well.
Thank you for the video, just what I was looking for. I was trying to figure out if the tire should be off the ground or not. Apparently it should be.
Cheers man, nice Vid.
Sir my car i20 thermistor inside the motor is heating up quickly. How to repair it??
I don't know how anyone can work on small things with gloves on. Thumbs up for a great video.
Great video Sir. I sincerely appreciate it. If you don't mind me asking,. I'm planning on purchasing a 99 very soon. Do you think these are reliable vehicles. I'm asking because I really need a vehicle soon
My grandparents has almost 300k miles. So yes, they can be. But with anything, it depends on the maintenance and if you baby it or have a lead foot...
Did you remove the balance shaft / chain?
Not removed, as i remember. Engine had newer chain and left it on, marked and reinstalled
Superclean underbody 👍
Scratching up the fenders with your wallet chain much?
+shupe03a4, May I ask, why did you use dishsoap instead of grease? Isn't dishsoap corrosive? Plz advise.
Give you a like 👍for wearing eye safety or protection
Thanks man, i repaired my Mondeo mk3 by this way, i opened the motor and was full of a black dust, i washed it with WD40, and i did exactly as in your video, works great now!

They will come off without too much hassle he said .....
I think the guy cut the carpet in the middle and cut the duct work that goes to the rear. Then you can remove the duct that is below the actuator. The carpet cut is hid under the console and you use tape to reconnected the duct work. More here: czcams.com/video/cCUzOUqW6Ms/video.html
Great fix, really good video, 1st repair I've seen done to the music of Space Hog's In the Meantime & STP doing Led Zepeling. Damn musicians, noticing those little things. Thanks for the video.
I thought this would be easy. Absolutely mashed my hands up trying to get these Cunts off. Trying to fit underneath the car in some awkward positions just to get enough elbow grease to push them off. Gave up after doing one side. Just bought a gear puller to do the other side.
I was skeptical, but this actually worked. Replacements are only $13 on Amazon now, but why not save a few bucks and learn and try something new? One important word of caution! If you’re planning on repairing your actuator, make sure you don’t break off the lower part of the mounting tab when you’re removing it! If you do, you’ll have to buy a whole new actuator or work out a way to jury rug it, which is what I did. It ain’t pretty, but it’s holding together. Also, be ready to use a metric crap ton of the strongest adhesive you can find to hold the two sides together. If it’s at all weak, the thing will full on ‘splode the first time you put volts thru it. I ended up drilling in some new rivets to keep it together. Fun project!
