  • Video of a bad shifter rod bushing on a 1977 porsche 911.
Under the shifter tower assembly there is the bracket that supports the rod, this bracket had a bad bushing you can see.
The Next step is to remove the end (paint mark first!!) and replace bad bushing.

Would this same bushing failure apply to a 1967 912?

Hey. I've got an '88 Carrera and I know from the noise and slop in the shifter that this is my issue. I just wanted to be clear on how to remove the console from around the shifter to gain access. Would you have anything you could point me to? Thanks.

I'm with ya Bill. My 87 does the same thing. Did you ever find how to remove console and complete this job?
