- How to tell if you have bad shift link bushings. While this is an extreme case if you have flop in your stick this may be why. I'll post up another video later about how to fix this.

There are a couple different types of shift bushings in there. You have the shift linkage bushings like these here: www.fastwrx.com/products/tic-...
They are the "links" from the shift knob to the transmission. When these are worn out they give left and right play.
Then you have the shift stay bushing like these: www.perrin.com/shop/shifters/...
These don't have "linkage" on them they are just "stay" bushings to keep parts of the shifter mechanism in place with the car. When these are worn they often give forward and aft play.
This is me right now 😪 bout to replace the bushing this weekend 👌
I really appreciate the info... I appreciate how you broke down in each gear has the slop. Why issue is my stick shift is firm shaking hard.
thank you for this gonna fix mine
That helps!
I have a dirty mind and couldn't miss the weird move @ 0:31.. you savage !

When I had bad bushings it wasn't floppy like that but wouldn't go into 2nd gear and rough going into 4th. Bushings fixed that right up.
I fn love you. I cant go in second or 4th lol
This is what mine is doing. I'ma check that out. Thanks lol.
@@User_1795what you do(
mine wont go into 5th
That's insane!
Nice gear finder
It's been THREE YEARS now. WHERE'S THE REPAIR VIDEO for replacing the bad shift link bushings?
czcams.com/video/Q6sptoaning/video.html
Found this one while doing some research. My '97 STi has the same issue, so I'm glad I found this.
Its been 6 years now
Need this repair video bud right about now would be nice 😅
No, it's been 6 years 😂
Question, I thought this was the literal shifter bushings on the shifter not on the linkage. Because mine isn't sloppy at all. It's just hard to go into 3rd now because apparently my shifter linkage is stretched out

I'm having the same problem right now..I have a 2002 accord and it doesn't take 1,3 or 5 it only takes 2,4 and reverse but sometimes it locks me in 2,4 and reverse....can you help
@@omarbethel22 did u ever figure out what was wrong?
Does this apply if mine will not go into park at all
Would your gear shifter make a pop sound when you'd go on and off the gas, almost like the gear wants to pop out? Mine does it with all gears..
Mine does did you figure out the issue ?
Could be the synchro
I’ve got a Subaru Baja that pops it’s self out of 4th so I just don’t use 4th
Can bad shift link bushing cause it to not shift into reverse
I believe so
My car just acted up. It will go into 1,2,3,4,5 but not reverse. Even the reverse light won't light up (so i assuming its not in gear?) It has wobbling shift gear so shift linkage or joint?
@@789Noctis I fixed my problem, the bushing underneath my shifter broke. It’s the easiest fix I’ve done for a car.
@@eduardmccarthy9623 Thanks man! so its not under the car instead in it?(under the shift gear?)
Could you still put it in gears
same i exactly how mine is i have the bushing and linkage idk how to instal em
Looks like every Dacia Sandero taxi.
I got the same problem but did your car still drive in first gear etc?
Mine does
My manual 1999 accord wouldn’t go into second gear today and when I pulled over it wouldn’t go into any of the gears. Like not you have to push hard, it wasn’t going in😹. I tried to get it rolling and into second and she went in but it was basically like it wasn’t in gear when I came out on the clutch nothing happened so then I pulled over again turned it off and it let me put it in first so I started with the clutch in and it kinda started rolling on its own which makes me think it’s a hydraulic problem with the clutch, I was able to put it into second for real and ride it home. Do you think it’s a clutch disk, hydraulic, or linkage problem? Thanks.
Did you ever figure out what was wrong? This is happening to me right now
@@laceymartin8196 same problem, only my whole shift knob just came loose and my car is stuck in 1st gear. Idk if I need a new bushing or wtf it could be
It’d be your throwout bearing in the clutch, when it goes it keeps the clutch fully engaged and the pedal does nothing at that point
I never had that problem and on my 3rd one
Mine actually shifts smooth and fine. However it sounds like rattling in every gear…at first I was thinking driveshaft but idk honestly.
I have this problem but instead I can only go into third and fourth, is there a difference?
No difference I broke down today for that reason tried getting my car home in traffic in 3rd gear only and overheated my clutch so pulled over
I just got an 05 tiburon and my shifter is. Pretty close to this and will not go into reverse lol
I just got an ‘06 Cadillac CTS and mine won’t go in reverse either lmao
Will a bad bushing cause your shifter to shake when you’re like in 3rd and 4th geqr
Sounds like the solenoids.
@@User_1795 what solenoids?
@@radianm6 Shifting solenoids. You may not even have them. But if you do. It's worth a look at.
@@User_1795 I’ll look into ot but I don’t believe so. I don’t think manuals do. I could be wrong
@@User_1795manuals do not have shifter solenoids lol
When your shifter was like this did your car ever grind going into gear? Mine is loose like that and grinds sometimes going into first and reverse
No, if you are getting grinding chances are they are your syncros going out not the shift linkage
Dakota Maatman I have new carbon synchros and a bad shift linkage so yeah a shift linkage is the issue
@@jonathannolasco4873 how much did you spend on synchros
Me rn lol 😭
Will only front and rear bushings fix this problem ?
+1 or the shifter linkage?
You have to fix this? I’ve drove my truck for years like this. What’s the worst that could happen?
Well mine only has access to 3/4 gear with no bushings so. You got lucky and that's pretty much it
Mine lost 1st and second entirely. All I have is 3/4
Same, so weird, did you fix it? How much did it cost?
Lmfao!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
