last times I Did this I left the subframe attached. and dropped the complete assembly straight onto a pallet I put under the car. this way I could pull it away from underneath the car. Works like a charm

.how hard is it to do a motor swap in a saab 9-3. I have some mechanical experience but this would be my 1st time trying to swap and engine out. What advice would you recommend for me?.. and if you had to pay a mechanic to do it what would be the max price you would be willing to pay a mechanic?

im doing this same job soon. Is the engine bolted to the subframe in any way or just mount supports?

The Subframe was removed after the exhaust downpipe. Firewall trans mount and Rad torque mount out, leave rack in. undo ball joint cross pins and drop entire subframe with jack, engine now hanging by side mounts. Undo the wiring harness and hoses. P/s pump and A/c left attached to car. Hope this helps.

How many hours would it take a professional mechanic in a well equipped garage to change an automatic transmission on a Saab 9-5 2.2 tid 2005? Anyone? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Way easier to take it out the top, especially if you don't have a lift.
Automatics are quite simple, the transmission can stay in the car with the drive axles. Manuals the transmission has to come out so the axles are off. The pull is quite steep. Don't forget the crank pulley has to come off.
