One thing I do with some of the cucumbers is puree them, put in ice cube tray until frozen and then have the cubes that I add to smoothies. It's so refreshing. I made bread and butter pickles for the first-time last year and I'm definitely going to make some more because I'm down to one jar left! Love those pillows!

I thankfully only saw one comment nodding towards this, but... Ever since the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon" people attack the Pioneer Woman because she is married into the Drummond Family. I am a local...and YES, the Drummond's ancestors were among the white families who got their land in shady ways from the Osage. And Yes, in their mercantile(the same building where Ree's mercantile is) they charged the Osage triple the prices they charged white customers. All of the white business owners during the Osage oil boom when the Osage were the richest people in the world, did that. And here's the darkest truth: YES the Drummond family(Lad's great grandparents) owned the Undertaking parlors, both in Pawhuska and Hominy, and they charged the Osage upwards of 20 thousand dollars for funerals .....so they benefitted and made A LOT of money off of the Osage who were murdered. But none of this is the fault of any of the living Drummond's. And it most definitely isn't the fault of Ree Drummond who married in to the family. Her business was not built on the back of her husband's money. Her business started because of her blog, and it grew into what it is, INDEPENDENTLY. Most of the local Osage LOVE Pioneer Woman and her husband and children. She goes to church with many of them! They brought fame and tourism to Pawhuska and because of that, several local Osage artists have outlets to sell their art that they didn't have before. And the tourism isn't slowing down. In fact, it has increased since the pandemic, and now because of the Killers of the Flower Moon . movie. I hate people saying horrible things about her because of her inlaws past. The Drummond's have given much back, even before Ree was famous. Many Osage have benefitted over the years from the younger generations generosity. Holding them accountable for their ancestors questionable practices is equal to holding the children of Nazi war criminals accountable for their ancestors horrible acts.

We use a homemade spray for bugs using witch hazel and water as the base with rose geranium essential oil! It smells SOOOO good and keeps ticks away also. Love it

Interesting how people travel to Pawhuska because of the Pioneer Woman and then wonder about the history. Google it. Lol. The cabin and Drummond land was originally Osage tribal land. Sad as a Native to see a missed opportunity to educate children and yourself about the history of a location. It's great what the family has done for the community, but it would be even better to give back to the tribe they swindled the land from.

Your bread looks great! But you’re not alone in the bread department. My teen daughter prefers homemade bread, the younger two prefer store bought - you can’t please everyone all of the time I guess 😂

Tater tot casserole became a staple in my house when my two boys were the only ones left at home. They needed the heavy rich foid and carbs. However, I added a can of mild green chilis and a handful of velveeta cheese and we loved it even more.

Same here with my family and bread! 😂 My husband also finds it amusing. We farm in Missouri as well… so I feel your pain on the rain/no rain!

Have the boys read the ingredients for factory bread. The chemicals the can't pronounce might change their mind

I keep experimenting with sandwich bread recipes; and haven't found one yet that is just right. Still a little too heavy or dense. I am not a farmers wife; life didn't take us in that direction. I was raised on a small homestead with animals, chickens and huge garden. Retired now; but like a simple life, cooking and baking; being in the mountains.

Im a farm wife! My husband, and i, along with our youngest son all farm together It has been so rainy here this year as well. Today we are finally cutting our first hay down. Its so wet underneath but at least its a windy day...so that will help. I just love your videos and that you always have a good attitude! That was not always the case with me through the years and i regret that. With all the hard work every day, its easy to forget what a blessing this is! You have helped to remind me of that....THANK YOU!

Maybe you can help my family with this question since you run a farm. When we drove through Missouri and other farming states, all we saw were soy bean and corn fields. Why do so many American farms grow these crops and not the vegetables that are better for us to eat? I believe we have to rely on other countries for that.

I totally understand about the bread! I have 4 boys, I like to make sourdough for the gut benefits (and my husband and I love it) and they just aren't having it. I even found a very mild sandwich bread sourdough recipe and nope! They want store bread only... 😂 Same thing with milk, we purchase raw milk, they want store 2% milk. I can't win 😵‍💫
