Both my cats eat both wet and dry, they're very particular about which wet foods they eat but they'll eat it.

Why won't my cat eat or drink after dental surgery? My 4 year old cat had dental cleaning two days ago. The Vet had to extract his top two Canines, four premolars and three molars as he had tooth resorption and Gingivitus. My poor little guy is still loopy and he won't eat or drink. I offered him several different flavors of cat food, fancy feast tuna, shrimp broth and tuna fish. he sniffs it and walks away. He does the same with water. The surgery was done on Friday, today is Sunday so the clinic is closed. I started giving him water and broth with a dropper so he doesn't get dehydrated. Is it possible that he has lost his sense of smell?

There is little difference between wet and dry pet "foods". They are all mandated to adulterate the food with unnecessary and harmful chemicals. Normal healthy cats (and dogs) should be fed fresh meats, not waste products in cans or bags. Pet "foods" are the equivalent of junk food. Would you feed yourself or your child only bagged and canned foods? Of course not. If you want to prevent and minimize health problems and behavioral issues, feed your pets real meat as much as possible and stay away from all canned or dry pet "foods".

I have two cats. One of them was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year. They were kibble junkies, and I had them on a high quality dry food. They refused to even try wet. We have been trying to transition them to a majority wet food diet, supplemented with a low carb dry food. For the most part, the diabetic cat has adjusted, but my other cat has not. It's been a huge struggle to get them on the same diet. Fast forward to this week, when both cats got sick with vomiting and diarrhea. It's just been horrible. My diabetic cat's sugar is high again, after being in control for about a month. Neither of them feel well. It is had to find quality wet cat food as well. Diabetes is really a problem, as the food must be low carb. We think the issue we are having now is bad wet cat food. We are trying to get the gastrointestinal issues under control, get them back to eating, and then get the glucose back under control. My cats just do not enjoy wet. We may have to go back to dry to keep them happy and eating. They were healthy until earlier this year on just kibble alone.

NEITHER. Raw food is closest to what they naturally eat. Do you feed canned or dry food to lions and tigers? No because they eat raw meat.

He says hes not trying to sell anything, as he spends 10 mins talking about a cat feeder. My cats would be terrified to go near the thing.

I feed my kittens wet and dry and count the calories. They are indoor. I brush my cats teeth 3 times a day started this at 6weeks old they are now 1year old. I have regular stainless steel bowels for water and a water fountain in most rooms. Thank you for great info.

I feed my cats wet food twice a day and good quality biscuits from the vets for snacks as they want. Royal Canine dry and Royal Canine kitten wet as my cats are very old 18 That feeder is not giving out enough food for two cats 🤷🏼‍♀️ My very old cat has only been to the vet once to get his nails cut, he bit the vet and has never been back, his an indoor Bengal.

Absolute HORRIBLE advice coming from a vet. You should be utterly ashamed of yourself. Kibble is the WORST thing you could feed a cat. This is stunning, but to be honest, expected from vets who have no idea about feline nutrition.

My question about teeth: negligible difference to combat plaque/tarter buildup; what about for the gum’s health?

Hydration is the main reason I feed my cats wet food. One of them, I know he loves drinking from the cat fountain. The other one, I've never seen him drink, ever. Maybe he's secretly drinking from the toilets, I sure he is. Somehow he stays alive despite presumably being chronically dehydrated, and I try to help him out with the wet food!

I feed my cat both dry and wet food because the only wet food that Patches will eat is expensive. It is much more cost-effective to feed her both. Also, I have no idea how old she is.

i give my cat wet and dry food at the same time and atleast 3 different flavours at every meal time,in total 5 different tastes every day and on top of this there is treats like raw meat,cow,lamb,chicken,pork and fish(the fish is boiled)once or twice a week. i have had cats for 56 years,the one i have now is named Lillepus(it means little cat)he is a maine coon/norwegian forrest cat mix 18 months old and 7,2kg,it is spring he goes crazy outdoors now.

Great video! I have a question I rescued a Female Tabby ( Penny Lane). She weight 10.2 pounds when I got her she was also recently nursing . I’ve. Had her for 2 years she is 4 now . She had a vet visit and is 13.8 pounds she was eating a half a can of wet twice a day and dry. Now they. want her to have a quarter of a can twice and 1/3 cup of dry. Do you think she getting enough she a large Tabby no petite.

I have been trying to find an answer for this but haven’t had luck, so I hope you see this comment! I add about a quarter of a cup of water to their wet and dry food combo once in the morning and once in the afternoon, is that too much water? I don’t know if I can accidentally force them to drink too much water! But they do eat/drink it all so I’m hoping it’s fine, but I haven’t been able to get this confirmed by anyone knowledgeable!

Love your podcast and glad to see you here. Hope your right hand is okay. Is it a muscle strain? About cats, you forgot the 5th category which is preference. My British Shorthair doesn't like wet catfood. So, the concern has been to make sure that he has a lot of water around that he can drink at will. We also feed him a very good mix of nutrition through Iams. And, of course, Bernie has his own preference for chicken.

NEITHER. Feed your beloved pets ACTUAL REAL FOOD, RAW MEAT. Its just as affordable as high quality kibble and trash wet catfood (WHICH ISNT FOOD AT ALL, ITS REFUSE). They are meant to eat real food, not processed powerbars their whole lives

My cat coughs exactly like that immediately after drinking water and only after drinking water. I took him for xrays and they didn't find any signs of athsma... also a round of steroids did not help him. Is it possible water can cause some sort of spasm that looks like this athsma cough too??

my vet prescribed our kitties Royal Canin Dental Diet, I feed them a 1/4 cup every morning (I think of it like their cereal). My cats' teeth are so clean :D Their lunch and dinner are all wet foods. My vets always praise us for how healthy our kitties are!

Hello Dr. Uri, what is your take on home-prepared prey based raw diet for kittens and cats? I have tried many kinds of wet food but my kitten only eat very little (less than a spoon) and prefers dry food. However, she did like the meatballs we made, which is a combination of beef, pork, beef liver, beef kidney, chicken heart, gizzaed and mussels.

Both are equally important to feeding your cat. Wet, dry, and natural food. Cats are self-regulating eaters. They conserve according to what they have so you can just fill a bowl with kibble for the day if you find the right size. They also have preferences so I think exposing them to all the types of food early on and being willing to adjust to their health and needs later is probably the most important thing to pull from this. He says to switch to all wet food later on, but kibble also becomes more important for strengthening their weakening teeth then too, so balance is key with a bit more preference toward wet or natural foods.

I'm in shock! My cat adopted us at the age of 7. She is now 11. Our vet insisted on dry food. First of all, she considers dry food as some kind of punishment. She doesn't like it anymore. Secondly, since I started giving her dry food, she gained so much weight and became obese. It's heartbreaking. Starting now I'm reducing the dry food she doesn't even like and give her more wet food!! My poor Pakita..I wish I knew... 😢 PS On your video about belly rubs, I asked you... I have wanted to incorporate puzzle feeders but I have one cat who is a very intelligent glutton and will eat all the food before my other cat has a chance. Any tips to ensure both cats get their proper portion when puzzle feeders are involved?
