  • I was fortunate enough to experience a video going viral several times. First with "squish that cat" aka "How to pick up a cat like a pro" but to a lesser degree with some of my other vids. So what is it like when your video goes viral? Pretty crazy...

    I remember seeing a video by a CZcamsr who made a meme video compilation of you just saying, "squish that cat" and I appreciated it that they were considerate and put the link to your original video in the description. Many people just use others' content without linking, but that person was kind.

      There’s no such thing as an original idea. Get over yourself

    • @jl8417
      @jl8417 Před rokem +27

      @@bennu547 There's a big difference between an idea that's been done before or doing a similar thing to someone else
      (such as a tutorial on picking up your pet cat, of which many before and after Dr.Uri have been made)
      and just directly using a clip of someone else's work.
      Like, I don't think clips are stealing or anything, after all, this meme video probably remixed the clip in a new way
      and I've seen many reviewers who'd love to be able to freely talk about Ghibli movies without risking their channel getting in trouble for copyright on a video that exists in no way as a replacement for the original movie
      But if you're going to use a video clip for an edit, it's at least common courtesy to let people know where they can view the original/where you sourced your clip from

      Yeah, plenty of people making money of remixes of my vids. Not much I can do about it. CZcams doesn't really regulate this kind of thing unless a record company is involved, and never mind tiktok!

    I recently had the strange experience of going viral myself, and it was bizarre and totally unexpected. I think the sour part of it was it really wasn't a video that I was particularly proud of, or really had any creative/personal stake in, the content i sourced wasn't even mine! It was actually not even something I cared if other people saw, it was just a reference video I was making for myself so I could see two sources side by side... And then I guess the algorithm just snagged it and started spreading it across everyone's homepages. And it's like, do I want to be a content creator now? I don't love the topic enough to spend ever waking moment on it. Would I just be chasing lightening by making another one? Just a completely strange, surreal experience overall. An insane burst of notifications and views piling onto your channel by the hour, when you neither wanted it nor expected it. I started getting annoyed by it, not to mention the video wasn't monetized 😅
    I am sort of envious of how wonderful and personal your viral videos are, they were truly "you" in the way that only you could have made them. I remember seeing that squish that cat video all the way back when you posted it and thought "now this is a guy I want to sub too!" And here I am, 4 years later and glad you're still making great stuff.
    wishing you all the best to both you and Mr. Pirate :)

    Just a question. Is it possible that cats develop dementia within 20 years, besides other metabolic effects (thyroid etc) ? Sorry for my English.

    • @mariag.8242
      @mariag.8242 Před rokem +1

      Yes, cats can have dementia. 20 is a very good lifespan for a cat and their brains are subject to the same kinds of damage as ours. Get a really thorough check up from your vet and invest in the best senior cat food you can afford. Micronutrients can have an enormous impact on how an elderly body works. Good fortune with your cat ❤

    • @HelpfulVancouverVet
      @HelpfulVancouverVet  Před rokem +2

      I'm going to say no. There is a lot of talk about diagnosing dementia in animals, but I've yet to see any convincing evidence for the signs people describe that can not be explained using much simpler pathologies: hearing and vision loss, arthritis, chronic pain, obesity, etc.

      @@HelpfulVancouverVet Hi Doc! I requested this because my cat was confined at a vet clinic for 2 weeks more than a month ago due to poor appetite then he suddenly developed jaundice 24 hours after he was admitted. His liver enzymes were also elevated. He's doing better now after a month of oral antibiotics and liver supplements--your video about giving oral medications really helped me here. I'd like to know how I can prevent this from happening again because I don't know if I can bear being away from my cat-son again for that span of time not knowing if he'll recover or not.
