Thanks again Barrie for repeating this. You are so correct; new viewers join or pass you every day, these videos are so informative especially with limited editions. I’m lucky to have got one in a batch and matches all the correct details. An original. I too have always liked and prefer the mainline couplings. All very best Marc from Leighton Buzzard
So glad to see your return, wonderful to see and hear your videos. So agree with you on the bright in your face with this, I’m lucky to have the red version with a single tool van; always looking for the red staff coach to go with. As you say they look great moving around the layout at slow speed but where to keep it. Always think of rolling stock; this is more than something to keep hidden in your rolling stock siding; something special to see out on the railway. Looking forward to next video, all best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

Nice loco , and as I live in Sussex I've treated my self to a hornby King Arthur class loco ,as love these and always wanted one and will go with my Schools class Cranleigh and other southern area locos ,and am getting Sir Harry Le Fise Lake, and as it was based most it's life at Ashford, Kent were my mum came from and know well the site of the old steam shed and railway works ,so a bit of history for me too ,and also a beautiful loco with some wonderful names too😊
good vid on channel keep up the good vids you do
"Barries Washers" Yay🤣👍👍 How do you stop Cock O' the north derailing through diamond crossings Baz, mine has a tendancy to "turn" rather than go through😡 I'll stump you one day😁👍👍
My collection of LNER locos has grown in the last year and I have my first Baseboard up and running. There is one video on CZcams and I hope to upload another one this week. The channel is called "Yorkdale LNER Preservation Railway. Martin. (Thailand)
I always learn interesting stuff from your presentations. 😀
Awesome, thank you!
Wonderful locomotives! Really great finds 👍
Glad you enjoyed
Any chance of a tutorial on the best way of fitting Marklin traction tyres to a Hornby 4-4-0 please Barrie?
Nice locos. I have 2 BR ones. Your one and Cock o the North. Both brand new. Only prob I had was tender pickups bent. Sorted easily and both lovely runners. Thanks for another great video
Always nice to see an LNER pacific. Yesterday I got my 5th of the4 silver A4;s.I have Quicksilver in both otiginal silver.grey livery and in the black wae time livery. Nice to have a load of A4's.
Nice locos. I am a big fan of LNER pacifics in particular.
I love the loco, Steady Aim. I think it looks really nice with the Wren Pullmans.
Your fellow CZcamsr, RoyalScot, is a huge fan of Thompson Pacifics and has 2 or 3, which he's shared on his channel. Personally, I prefer Peppercorn's locos. Having said that, I think the B1 is a beautiful looking loco. I do like the County Class, both the originals and the 4-6-0s. Good luck with the dentist 😝
Very nice Barrie . No galloping with that County 😂😂
good vid
Good video
County of Flint looks superb. The numbers & nameplates are better than those on the Thompson pacific.
I recently read that the design, manfacture and maintenance of private owner wagons was neither standardised nor regulated, which caused serious delays due to breakdowns whilst they were being hauled. And even when everything was working well, the trains could only manage about 15 mph! So after the Big 4 were formed in 1923, they started making their own standardardised wagons, which gradually replaced the privately owned versions.
Private owner wagons add huge play value to a layout. My friend has built up a "Welsh Coal Train" of over 20 wagons, each in a different coal-related livery. The train is so very eye-catching as it snakes around the curves, hauled by a GWR loco. Although it could also be an LMS type.
So ,pleased you decided to make a come back.
You might think this is stupid, but I am always on the lookout for wagons that have the name of the companies I have worked for, ie, bocm, tate and Kyle, wr grace(american) kontron(swiss) and Basf. I also collect the cars I have had in my life, again, vauxhall fb,capri, Morris 1000 convertible, and so on, I'm a sad old geezer, regards and keep the information coming, always interesting, pete
That's not stupid at all! I'm the son of a South Wales coal miner, and I just can't resist buying anything GWR/BR(W)/NCB coal-related for my model railway.
good vid of nice plank wagon
Hi Barrie, thank you so much for this super interesting video! The close ups of these wonderful wagons is a pleasure to watch. Also the locomotives are beautifully presented! And the amount of super interesting information is an important part of the video. I have a question: could you please do a video on which locomotives are great on small layouts. My layout is only 1 square meter, an R1 circle with a station track and one siding. I have a Terrier. Peckett W4 and a small Prairie. I have no locomotives with tender, because I presume they cannot run on R1. Thanks 🙏 Greetings from Belgium! Erik PS: wonderful dog 🤩👍
Should be tate and lyle
Don't forget Shandy Bass Baz, when it was nice, and available!👍👍
Informative as always. ✔️
Your water tower is reminiscent to the one that stood at Bungay Station. It was saved from the scapyard in the 1970s when the A143 bypass used the old Waveney Valley Line trackbed, and re-assembled at the North Norfolk Railway, where it can still be seen today.
Love your enthusiasm mate. I enjoy your videos. Was nice to see Alfie too!Hope you get well soon. God bless.
I believe breakdown cranes should run jib. 1st for safety reasons ? And as for the red vent Van's they had a prefix or DE prefix for the dept of engerniring department . And they were called packing vans for tools but all the different sizes of wood blocks known as packing for blocking and jacking purposes s . Red was the 1st colour out follow by the yellow then followed by the grey . Hornby 1st riding coach was a red Thompson coach labelled as breakdown riding coach . Yours I believe was the 2nd . . Hope this helps . Try to stay in the shed . Not tbe hospital. Best of health to you.
The first model railway crane I had was the Hornby model you showed first, once I saw the yellow one I knew it was the one that I wanted, sold the red livery model and bought the yellow livery model along with the breakdown coach and the track cleaner, never got hold of the smaller crane, the main crane hasn’t changed much in over 40 years, when Hornby bought Lima they used the Lima crane in the Railroad range, thanks for sharing.
Here in the States, we know Alphie is one of the best engineers in England 🚂🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi Barrie. Sorry to hear about your unwanted trip to hospital. Hope you are now feeling better. I was bought one of these for my 14th birthday 50 years ago(Must be the Triang version). I still have it in my collection. I cannot see the 4 balancing arms on your model that came with mine. Have Hornby stopped putting them on the model. The model still has the mounting holes on the crane chassis. I also have the H/D crane I bought as a spares and repairs and fixed up.
Good Morning Barrie great to see you are back again . I hope you are all keeping well . An extra splash of colour via a model railway on a sunny May morning . Cheers !
Hi Barrie, 65 is the Class indeed, Baureihe in Germany. Congratulations with this great purchase! Cheers 🙋♂️ Erik
Wow !!.
Great video Barrie thanks
Excellent video, informative and really well illustrated. Good work sir.
Very nice, I'm attempting a g gauge layout in my garden this year
Hey a 65 018 that has not been renumbered yet, especially as its from the Benelux region (this is an actual preserved locomotive in the Netherlands). Judging by the manual its a fairly new one, as it has the typical close couplers fitted on the picture. The cause of the noise is both the brushes and the gears. Most tank engines will stay a bit more noisy compared to the tender drive ones as the gearbox vibrations will rattle the valvegear
I have oiled her and she is easily 90% better.
Hello Barrie, I bought two of the DBs from TMC following your Bargain Alert, I believe you got your DB from them as well for £58.00 a true bargain price.
Im a regular visitor to the Chemnitz Roundhouses, a museum for steam, and diesel locos. Living not to far away, the steam locos they have there are amazing. Nice to see this Fleischmann loco.
A lovely loco Barrie and towards the end of Fleischman before they were brought out by the modeleisenbahn company they fitted can motors to the BR03 BR 41 BR 95 and BR 39 and there might be a couple of others as well and on the electric slide the BR 101 and BR 145 also had can motors from New i also find roco locomotive s run more quietly than Fleischman
Thruster is lurking in the background 👍🏼
Fabulous, I wished there were Marklin and Fleischmann dealers in the UK.
Fleischmann products are wonderful, I've got a luggage van/brake with rear/internal lights marked "made in the US Occupation Zone", so the mould for the metal chassis dates back to before 1949!
Lima also fitted its ringfield motor in the locomotive in continental tender locomotives: the SNCF 141R and the DB BR39.
Happy Birthday!
yes please, in the us we have 4 aspect red, yellow, green, and lunar (white) set up the same with red on and green on the bottom but the railroads here use flashing aspects usually for diverging over points. All the best-Mike
Buckland Junction signal box was a box I visited as a teenager. I find signalling very interesting. Using relays on my layout. I have enjoyed the basic signalling video. Regards Alan in Dover :o)
Nice video and great music.
