    What a stunning recipe, full of skin-loving ingredients. I love your set-up there, especially your ice bowl for the lye solution and the big, purple silicon pad for your tools. I just have a small one, and it's a PITA - I'll have to upgrade. And that EO blend! I imagine it's just delicious. I wonder if a big piping bag might make pouring into the molds easier? That said, I bet the bars (even the later mold) are awesome! I'd love to see a test of the lather on them.

Currently, I’m a bit stretched on time preparing to teach kids summer camps, and a couple conferences presentations. I’m going to see if I can find some time over the next several weeks and create a reel lather testing the soap..

    Something I read about using tallow/lard in soap - and from a vegetarian no less- is that it shows honor to the animal that a part normally sent to garbage is used to make something so beautiful and useful. Loved the video and will give your soap a try. Thanks!

    Just adding a comment to boost your video! Thanks for sharing your process! I haven't made soap in a while because the last cp soaps I made (about 5 pounds of soap!) accelerated on me so badly... LOL! I had soap on a stick in about 3 SECONDS after I added my fragrance. I was so discouraged. But I was able to rebatch it into something quite lovely. I felt better after that. I've been looking into hot process soap to see if it would be a better method of creating fragranced soap. I'd like to keep my product(s) as natural as possible, and I'm wondering if hot process would be the way to go? On a positive note: I also learned that my rotary style, hand crank, cheese grater worked like a dream to shred my failed soap batches. Yay! It ended up being a lavender colored, fig scented, soap. It lathers so nicely. I don't think it's a sellable product because it looks too rustic - for my brand/packaging, but next time... I think I could create something that's sellable. I wonder if rebatching my soap and THEN adding my fragrance would be a way to preserve the fragrance?? I'm gonna try a rebatched soap and see what-all happens. Thanks for sharing your technique with us. I use lard to make lots of stuff, that's why I'm called "This Little Piggy" ... LOL! I haven't had a chance to use tallow. Don't mind the haters that leave nasty comments about using animal fats. ~With Love, Sabrina

    When I was in Morocco in November, I bought about 1kg of Moroccan black soap and brought it back to Toronto. I looked at it the other day and noticed that it’s become very liquidy, essentially the consistency of juice. What caused this to occur? Is it possible to fix it (I was thinking boiling maybe)? Without knowing the ingredients, processes and all the other nuances that accompanied the manufacturer’s soap making process the fix is difficult to determine. I’ve tried and failed so many times rebatching CP to whipped soap 😣 glad to see this! Question: What was the difference between the sugar scrub and the body wash? It appeared that you just whipped the sugar scrub for a few more minutes, but that would be a gritty body wash….so I must have missed something! Since the trick to whipped soap is the ratio of scraps to water, are you able to share a ballpark ratio? Your melted soaps looked as beautifully smooth as oil, and mine always has chunks 😋.

    • @venessaphipps9015
      @venessaphipps9015 Před 2 lety

      With the sugar scrub you can feel it exfoliating. With the body wash after you have had mixed the sugar the heat from the blending causes the sugar to melt in turn what you get is more of a humectant affect extra moisturizing. You may not feel the sugar unless you have super sensitive skin. This will get you started. 100 grams cured shredded soap. The Palmitic value of the shredded soap 14 or higher. Takes courage to post a failed soap. Not sure if I'd be so brave! I'm sure it will turn out lovely after re-batching and re-purposing.

      I tried a receipt with stearic acid but in 50 53 and retried it in 42 40 but the saponification with s a is sooo fast. It was hard to work without stick blander but the results were so funny. Finally I tried a small quantities to avoid fast trace.

    Great job Vanessa! I am so glad we all got together for this fun collaboration. You inspiration was great and I am a fan of strong women everywhere. I have used 60 ml syringes for these teeny molds when I have a ton to make which can work well with melt and pour. Love the design and the soap story is priceless😃
