Thanks for the comparison. I think Coloursoft are my favorite pencils so far but I have been wanting to try some other similar price range pencils. I have some Prismas but don’t think I want a larger set of them. Always like your reviews.

Excellent review Harry. Thank you. I use 20 Luminous pencils as extension to my full set of Pablo. For certain drawings in local gallery, I've used my oldest Krisma-colour/ Polychromos/Pablo and Luminous for red ranges.

thank you for this! I know you real artists need hard pencils- but for us casuals with arthritis, all that coloring is exhausting and not prudent use of not working time. thank you!

Thank you so much for this comparison. I've tried Chromaflow, Black Edition and Coloursoft and sadly, I didn't find a replacement for Prismacolor. Prismacolor is very expensive in Europe, better to buy Luminance or Polychromos for this price. So I bought a set of 72 Chromaflow pencils, but I'm not satisfied with them, I would use them as they last, but not re-buy. I'm still in search of a perfect replacement. Very curious if Artxx pencils can be similar to the Prismacolor.

I love the blending tool , it’s not the same as the pencil i think. The woodbless blender is more easy too use. The pencil cost more energy. But maybe i’am wrong

I actually think you should use the blender for all future reviews etc instead of OMS because it’s what you actually use in real life so it helps us as viewers to see how you use it for your actual drawings.

What are your thoughts on OMS vs blender markers, like the Derwent Blenders or an alcohol colorless blender marker? Might be an interesting video. I have arthritis and asthma so always looking for a healthier way, as odorless does NOT mean vaporless. So helpful, I love your reviews!

Very informative. Thank you. In Canada we grew up with Laurentien coloured pencils. However we never referred to coloured pencils as coloured pencils. We called them pencil crayons.

I agree those are by far the most superior blending pencil, and I don’t know why they are so hard to find here in Canada.

Hullo Harry, excellent review and explanation. I am surprised at my choice of the Derwent Colorsoft sphere as the “best” one of this bunch! It so happens that I don’t own any of them! I have always admired color pencil Artists! Amie Howard Art is an amazing artist who has a wonderful array of pencil art! The patience needed for pencil art is far out there! I have completed only a few artworks in pencil only. I have painted in watercolor then used color pencils for finishing touches. I switch between harder cores and watercolor pencils and Prismacolors. I believe that it just depends on what the subject of the picture has incorporated will determine the pencil used in multi media artworks.

I have purchased a pin vice so I can use my broken prisma tips. It's not a perfect solution but I don't end up throwing away a bunch of unused tips. If there is one thing I have learned in life, it's that a tool exists for everything you need a tool for. You just have to find it

Prismacolor could be a great pencil, but the production quality is just dreadful. I mean when I pay a ton of money for pencils I want to see prostine barrels, nice paint job, well aligned prints, centered cores... I want them to look beautiful when I first lay eyes on them. I clearly remember when I opened my 150 Prisma set. I almost started crying when I saw the mess inside. I still regret buying them because there are other brands that could do the same, they are much more neat and waaaaay less expensive.

I think my coloursoft pencils are about 20 years old. It even contains colours which are not available anymore. Does time affect the quality or feeling? I struggle more with the use of them

What about Derwent Drawing?

My absolute fav is Luminance. Just wish they had more colors available.

These pens are absorbing the color from drawing and hence erasing the strokes

These blender pens ruined my art. May be i don not know when & how to use them.

I'm swatching my new set of Arrtx 126. Very pleased with soft cores and an easy, vibrant laydown. I am so happy to have bought these on Amazon for 27.49.

I also have colorsoft 150 and like the equally as well as chromaflows

Just got the 150 set. I have both the 72 & 100 set. I think I’ll like the 150 set very much. Now, if Derwent would just have the 150 set colors available open stock, to replace the colors I use most often, I’d be set. Thanks for a great review

I'm watching your video 3 years since you posted. I just recently bought a set of 24 Black Edition and I was happy to see that they now have numbers printed on them and the Faber Castell website has the color names. I made my own chart with the names and numbers. I really like the pencils because they have some colors that I don't have in my Goldfaber set of 48. Thanks for your video.

Does anyone know where I can get an English version of the color guide/list?

They are a great pencils have the set of 72 bought a set of 100 at Christmas great to use with other water colour pencils.

Bought a set of 108 artist pencils in 1996 there a good but i think colour soft, cromaflow, lightfast and drawing pencils are little bit softer like using them all.

I only had the 48 set of Goldfaber and I really like them but I felt like some colors were missing so I bought the 24 set of Black Edition so that I could at least have a pink and regular orange. The goldfabers don't include a pink or a regular orange only dark orange. Plus the dark edition has lots of other colors to compliment the Goldfabers.

I got the pencils and they’re incredible! Not disappointed at all. I actually got similar shades to compare with my Prismacolor and Derwent Lightfast and maybe these Seeing Essence weren’t as soft, but I can really use them to work details and sharp edges and corners. They also blend nicely! They’ve recently released a portrait set with 24 colours but I haven’t got that set. Your videos are amazing.
