The in-laws also agree, and in her hopelessness, the bride considers killing herself with the knife that she cries with for a few minutes, then sets down and walks away. She decides against it and leaves for a while. Later, the husband is seen coming back, and he is very upset at how his family has treated his wife. The wife returns home and takes back her baby, and when she realizes that her plot to make their lives miserable failed, she kills herself with the knife that the wife almost committed suicide with earlier in the movie. The husband and wife pay homage to the family god after finding the sister's dead body, and the god figurine goes back into sunlight, which I think is the lifting of the curse of misfortune cast on them for forgetting their gods.
