    I am soon to take delivery of an i5 eDrive40 M Sport with Tech+/Comfort+. I feel like a kid at Christmas 😅... my impatience to receive it has led me to watching CZcams videos for days 😂. Love this review. I've never driven a tesla, but been a passenger in them, the build quality is awful! The materials feel cheap, definitely doesn’t give that luxury feel you expect for the price tag. I've owned Mercedes, typically AMG-line, and the driving experience left a lot to be desired, so not surprised that's still an issue. I've also owned a BMW and it was far and away the best driving experience of any car I've owned to date. "A BMW is for driving. A Mercedes is for being driven in".

    Couple of things: 1. At the end you talk price and say that the Tesla starts at 80,000... but it is a 670hp (which is more than the top trims for the Germans), and it has the same battery as the Plaid. Also it cones standard with air suspension, 22 speaker sound system, 4 wireless chargers (yes two in the back you forgot to mention and cooled seats. 2. You talk about the Tesla's interior as bad, but is has the best headliner, soft touch plastics in the doors (bottom part as well), actually only the cover you showed is cheap. 3. You keep saying its old, but the 2021 facelift, changed the chassis, changed the suspension, the interior, wider track and wider fenders... I agree its a shame there is no right hand drive and the indicators are annoying. It is the best car here.

    The summary comment that the Tesla went on sale 10 years ago, implying it is more dated is TOTAL RUBBISH. Extremely weak, poorly researched content. Motors, batteries, interiors and build quality has vastly improved over the last 10 years as well as having the latest and superior tech.

  • @bavariancarenthusiast2722

    Great review. and rare - there is nothing out there comparing those 3 - normally the Plaid / Model S is more comparable to the EQS or i7 - but they are also way higher in pricing / luxury. BMW i5 I would choose the 40 fully loaded - more then enough power unless you need all wheel drive in the mountains / snow EQE I just bought the 500E, over the AMG - it comes with all the good stuff included (Hyperscreen, AMG packages, all assistens etc) with the same drive train as the AMG, but way more efficient especially way more then the 53 which is tested here, best compromise for me. Tesla? No thank you. We have a very good and dense charger network here (why not yet in the UK?) also who buys a car with the steering joke on the wrong side.

    The Model S LR here in the US is now $75K. 670hp/738tq, 0-60 3.1s, 405 miles of range. The Model S Plaid is now $89,995. Clearly, at those these price points there is nothing in the EV space that gives you what these Model S do for the money, nothing.

    I love my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch, machine gray with red leather interior. To me it's as if one of the Italian design studios were commissioned to make a small car for Mazda, but the best part is all the style comes with Japanese build quality, reliability and price. Unbeatable combo in my opinion. The competition may have a bit more passnger/cargo room, better fuel economy and in the top range sporty models (Civic Type R, GR Corolla, Integra Type S, Elantra N etc) more speed and better track handling, but I'd still choose my Mazda 3 turbo hatch today...although the Acura Integra Type S might cause me to reconsider. (Havent driven one yet)

  • @jbm0866
    @jbm0866 Před 27 dny

    Good question, and I'd say yes and no, it depends on the application. I'd say they are massively overrated when it comes to carmakers putting turbos on smaller displacement engines in an attempt to get the same power and performance as (lets say a V6) a larger engine yet the fuel economy of the smaller engine. They mostly get the power part right, but at the cost of more complexity, more expensive maintenance and reduced reliability. Where they often fall short (admitedly Honda does a great job) is with the fuel economy. If you must maintain some level of boost just to drive normally then your economy is going to be about the same or even worse than the V6 it replaced. Having said that, I drive a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch and greatly appreciate the extra shove on tap whenever it's needed. If I'm mindful of staying off boost I can mostly match the naturally aspirated Mazda 3 (with AWD to make it more fair) but it's hard to do that. I will say that if the turbo option didnt exist or I had never done a test drive of one then I'd likely have bought a non-turbo 3 with a 6 speed manual and be just as happy driving it. So my advice to anyone shopping for a Mazda 3 is this: if the turbo is what you want, go for it...thing is fantastic without trying to be some hardcore "sports" model. However if cost is a concern and you want the best car for your money...I'd get a mid level trim (called "preffered" in the U.S., different in other countries) that includes nice things like simulated leather seats (not bad, really!) heads up display and Bose premium audio...or at least the model year I was shopping those things were included. However if you do like I did and test drive the turbo right after a lower trim...be prepared for your bank account to take a hit😂 Once I got the thing out on a backroad where I could stomp on the throttle...I was hooked, and the salesguy with me knew it😊 Thankfully I negotiated mine when people were still afraid of car shopping due to covid (dealers were happy to have anyone interested) and a few months before supply chain issues sent new and used car prices into insane territory. In fact after about 8 months of ownership my salesman called and offered me about $200 less than what I paid...which is near 0% depreciation. I declined and dont really regret it, still love this thing. But back to the original question: as I said it depends on the intended application and specific make and model, but for long term ownership and longevity...you're almost always better off with a naturally aspirated engine. I'm sure I would have loved the other hatchback I considered, but if I didnt get the turbo I really wanted a manual trans..and that means getting a top trim level (premium) and with that considered it wasnt much less than the turbo I ended up buying. I got a great deal on my car, especially considering the massive rise in prices just a few months later😉

It is meant to drive with the motor engine on highways long distances and use the electric engine in the city. 30-50km should be more than enough for use in city with plenty of recharging possibilities. This is the best of both world.

    I own a 2020 Facelift Giulia Veloce. Great car. Only two things have gone wrong. Front indicators and daytime running lights failed after I drove through a slightly flooded road last Christmas. Cost nearly 800 quid to replace the two ECUs. New headlight units would have cost double that. Second issue concerns the front inner wheel arch linings which are made of crap and are separating from the bodywork. I'll need to replace them but overall it is a great car.
