    When I was first starting out, a man told me if I bought, improved and sold 4 properties during my adulthood that I could own a house free and clear. I'm about halfway through. It also depends on WHERE you invest.

    Looks good. i would've fully water proofed it, tho with tyvek and tape then some t111 siding for backwoods astedic. Those seams in the plywood, despite being on a stud, can still let in moisture, which will cause premature mold and water damage to the insulation.

    My brother in law beat me to it. He purchased the welder, but I actually went for it. To my surprise, I repaired my tow hitch. No, I don't tow anything. I just wanted to repair it. I treated the rusted areas and bam! Weldded some reinforced plates. I walked away feeling pretty good and enjoyed the video. Im certain my welds won't get an A, but you couldn't beat the plates off, lol. Thanks👍

    How come you don't build a water tower? That's automatic water pressure indoors. There are people who make steam engines that can charge a battery bank and the fuel is more reliable than gasoline.

    What an awesome story. And an awesome adventure. You're very fortunate to have found Brook, she sounds like a really good life partner and an awesome mother and wife. I am so envious. If only more people could do this our entire world would be a lot better than the trash lives of city people. And lets face it, they dont call city life the rat race without good reason. I love outdoor life. Oh man i wish you snd Brook and your family the very best in life and also a long and healthy life. You've got my subscription from all the way down under in Australia 👍

    Lofty Wiseman lived and breathed survival, all his methods were tried and tested for many years, for over 40 years I have tried and tested things from his book and everything I was able to do worked exactly how he said it would. I couldn't obviously try out the jungle or desert survival because of my location but the things he teaches were the same things that kept him alive whilst surviving in the SAS. I was lucky enough to meet lofty and his knowledge is unsurpassed.

    ‘I don’t need to paint this bolt, it’s already green and rusty.’ 😂 Great video as always Dave. Since I’ve been following your channel I’ve taken my projects much more slowly and been much more forgiving of my progress. I buy less too. No out of stinginess but to see if I can do something with less or my existing tools. A lot of times I go to the hardware store and walk out without buying anything as I get the idea of how to do the job with less while there.

    A bunch of education. I changed bicycle tires kind of like what was done here. My dad showed me how. Some DIY guys would store that valuable stuff behind the barn intending to "someday" do "something" with it. I have some of that. I'm not as sharp as Bushy but I can put things together.

    A small fabrication tip: especially on custom builds like this it’s often best to get everything (or as much as possible) in place and tacked before actually welding. As the welds cool they can pull considerably and throw your square/flat way out of wack

  • @Redfisherman007
    @Redfisherman007 Před 21 hodinou

    You did your foundation wrong. Lumber should always be stacked . Your support post are secured just on the side and all the weight is on those nails or screws. Your 6x6 should have been noched. So the frame is ontop not the side.

    Something that I’ve done that works really well for breaking the beads on tires is using a rim bolted onto the truck and then letting the jack down so the rim that’s bolted onto the truck breaks the bead on the wheel and tire that’s laying on the ground.

    Looks to me like you spend more time building than you do just "living." One would think that the ideal of homesteading would be to puck your spot and start working towards long term sustainability (10 years +) but you cant seem to stay in one spot long enough to settle in good. Multiple "homesteads" on multiple properties in under a decade just seems frivolous and pointless. I think maybe youve confused a nomadic lifestyle for a homesteaders lifestyle. Perhaps you'd be happier living in a bus so at least when you decide to uproot your life, you can take your home with you and not have to start from scratch.
