I live out of state, my child’s mother took me to court in the state where she resides and the court ordered that I take a DNA test and then created an order for creating an acknowledgement of parentage which resulted in the court allowing my child’s mom to plane me on the birth certificate. The court/Judge in Anchorage has not taken these factors seriously into consideration. I’ve been battling custody for 10 years and even with state custody investigation done and concluding that my ex husband not get custody and unsupervised visitation, with protective orders in place, the judge keeps awarding shared custody. It’s been so hard on my children.

My child turns 18 in July ‘24. The local state is NC. The child never went to public school. Only a private out of state religious academy that is online only with no supervision. Self paced read and test. No ID Validation of person doing the work. The recipient of the child support does 100 percent of the work. I know because I have helped and been a witness to it. After attending zero school from age 15 until present, 3 years, the child was re-enrolled in online school starting the month of his 18th birthday and will be starting 10th grade. This was only done to continue benefits. Help. I have called an attorney and have a consultation scheduled. It was very expensive. my friend , she has SSI , her x husband has custody. So when she first got SSI and the court knew about it they left her alone for years. recently they contacted her and she came in and they were throwing around how she could technically be arrested for flagrant non-support. They acknoweldged that SSI cannot be garnished but said there was nothing that prevented them from charging her with a felony . I was with her at the time and reminded them that there is case precedent where Judges decided not to punish people on SSI for non support. In fact when she first got SSI and she went to court and once the judge heard she was on SSI the case disappeared. So why are they trying to scare her. She believes they will jail her if she doesnt start paying. I told her they are bluffing cause why waste county resources to arrest and prosecute someone who has no ability to pay anything. It would be like kicking a dead horse. Any advice on this matter would be welcome. Which this in in Kentucky by the way

Co-Tenancy vs “acting like a married couple” or as laws refer to that as keeping a paramour are 100 years old and are not aligned with societal evolution. Cotenancy and cohabitation are not the same, in fact very much two very different things. Today’s legislators need to restructure exceptions for alimony to align with the evolution of society and economic inflation that that sometimes impedes a person’s ability to afford housing without a cotenancy arrangement. Legislators should be charged with updating the antiquated laws that are gender bias and should be updated - many laws are 100 years old. If getting alimony or paying alimony is a psychological issue of the marriage, getting to the real cause of resistance in either role needs to be questioned as to the motivator. Many times it’s a matter of bitter feelings or even abusive situations driving the high-conflict topic or support. If a party doesn’t like the way the laws and contract of marriage are viewed, then getting married should have been considered at that time, not after a breakdown of the marriage. You can’t sing both tunes.

My daughter has been living with me since 2022 September, my son has been living with me since 2023 may. I had stopped paying child support when my daughter moved in because I took care of her alone and her mother did nothing while at the same time I was the only one buying our son clothes and giving him allowance. My husband and I had to be in Public Assistance for a while and the Child support Office told us that he was still responsible for paying child support and it got added to his pack pay child support, is there anything we can do. We live in California. Also, his child support amount increased in the last year, and no one can tell us why, the case was pass on to another representative this being a woman and even thou my husband was paying every month (less than 100) she suspended his license and demanded that he pay 150 minimum, or she will suspend it again. Ok, they need to reference legal attorneys before doing the skit. I have an attorney friend who said if the child is 18 or has graduated high school. You can fight the petition for child support to eliminate child support order. They can only Go after Mike if he was in an arrears if there was an order already in the system. Which means he knew he had a son and he decided not to pay before the age 18 which is not the case but the fact that he found out. After he turned 18 and she hid the paternity. For all these years, they cannot force him to pay child support. Let alone a lump sum like this is crazy. I just need it to make sense.
