There’s plenty of asexual characters in media it’s just they are not loud or the story doesn’t concentrate on it they don’t go around talking about it. They just are.

Alastair should know what Ace in the Hole is as a reference. It originally was a reference to a poker move, it means the one holding a winning card has an advantage. It has nothing to do with being asexual. This dates back to at least the 1920s. Even if it’s a play on words he would still be familiar with the term. I think writers just don’t do enough research or any at all.

Logical being asexual can’t be a sexuality because it’s a lack of sexual feelings. Kind of like how atheism is not a religion it’s a lack of. I don’t know why we put ppl that don’t want anything to do with sex in a group of ppl with sexual preferences 🤔

Oh something you may find interesting is that In the date with Papyrus, there is actually a random egg labled just egg chilling off on the side of the screen 🤔. My favorite visual novel, Cool Kid Cody, has a couple asexual spectrum characters. GG/Game Girl/Gigi is aroace. (The other characters being Peter, who is demisexual, and Juvie, who is asexual.) There are a couple lines in the game that reference this. Once scene would be in "Gamers of the Galaxy!", where you can choose to announce the fact that a character named Thorn has a crush on GG.: --- Mini-Me♥♥♥: THORN HAS A CRUSH ON GG!! The fear in your voice is hilarious, not in a rude way, but in a funny way

For context: I am aroace. I agree with almost everything said in this video. I personally don't feel very strongly about fanfictions or fanart of any kind, regardless who the charakteres are in canon or what they identify as. Especially since I consider myself as a creative writer and like creative use of charakteres. My problem comes in when fans (or anyone actually) tries to argue canon sexuality away. For example: You want to make Charlie a trans woman instead of a cis woman? Cool! You claim she IS a trans woman? Ummm... No. And the same goes for Alastors sexual orientation. I am also not surprised for the show to make him aroace instead of just aromantic or asexual. These concepts are hard enough to grasp for "sexual" people so giving Alastor the aroace hat is easier and actually logical in my eyes. And there comes the closing words of your video into focus: Exploring this in the actual show would be awesome! Like, I myself struggled with my aroaceness for a long time, because I thought something was wrong with me. I didn't want to date anyone and thought my standarts were too high, and noone wanted to date me because I subconsously never sent any signals that would let them close enough for that. Discovering the terms asexual and aromantic helped me understand what was going on and now I am very comfortable with having no partner and not wanting one. Representation is important to people that don't know the thing that is represented, whether or not it represents them themselves or someone else. Arguing this away is excluding them.

As an heteroromantic ace, I don't know how I feel about shipping aroace characters I mean I know it's a spectrum so someone can still feel a little attraction, but it's just that no one would ever ship a lesbian character with a man or a gay character with a woman, and if they did everyone would call them out But also a lot of people ship non confirmed LGBTQ+ characters with characters of the same gender (exp. Izuku and Katzuki from MHA, I don't think either of them are confirmed achilleans and also Izuku is canonically shipped with Ochaco, still bakudeku is very popular) But it's still harmless shipping after all so as long as people don't say it's canon or something like that I'm ok with it

So I think it's worth a lot of the the fun events that are difficult to tie to Gaster (like clam girl) have to do with Deltarune. Gaster is heavily implied to be very, very relevant to Deltarune. And toby did say that he thought of Deltarune first. So it makes sense that the common thread in the fun events is Deltarune and not Gaster.

Not to play Devil’s advocate, but they also said Alastor hates being touched. Despite him, you know, being one of the touchiest characters in the show, if you look closely. They backtracked by saying that he doesn’t mind touch initiated by him, but even that doesn’t hold up close examination. Rosie was flat out dancing with him, and he was fine with that. Can anyone point to a single onscreen example where Alastor reacted negatively to touch? There really is a difference between telling and showing.

I've only recently started to accept my asexual identity... It's a long process and I'm still working things out... But I've also recently become a fan of this show and its been a comfort to have Alastor, who's a really interesting and cool character also be asexual. To be honest I don't know of many others.

i know this is like a month old so like everyone's moved on from this already </3 but i'd like to add something i haven't actually really seen anyone talk about when opening up deltarune w/ undertalemodtool and looking at the dialog / event scripts (specifically the step ones), you'll see characters marked with a global "typer" variable designated to a specific number, which i'm ASSUMING relates to whoever is talking at the minute the "contact" / another him scene at the start of chapter one has a dialog system that works just like that, and the typer variable is literally set to "666" i know the clues are pretty obvious already that the guy talking at the start is gaster but it wouldn't hurt to chuck another one on there

There's actually a couple tags, at least on Tumblr, for one-sided RadioStatic; "One-way Broadcast" and "Radiosilence". I'm big for QPR RadioRose, they strike me as the type to marry for tax reasons. But yeah, anything that doesn't portray Alastor as AroAce will always feel OOC to me. Some can be fun and still mostly align with his character, but it's always gonna feel like an alternate version of him and not something I could see potentially happening in canon. Gonna be honest, people who say Charlie and Vaggie don't act much like a couple...confuse me? There are SO many little touches and affectionate looks towards each other throughout just the one season we have so far. I am always noticing, and reveling in, all those little moments of affection we see them give to each other. It's hasn't been kissing all the time bc it's a 3 year relationship, they're in the more comfortable stages of their relationship.

Fandom can't handle asexuality, but I can.

I haven't watched the full series, but to me, Alastor seems like a bored hermit that's willing to take people under his wing if it alleviates his bordem. Ace or not, aro or not. He's not necessarily seeing people the same way. Because he likes being the Radio demon the demon that can reach out and touch your heart, but safe within his own tower of solitude.

If you want some GOOD aroace characters, the Murderbot Diaries has at least one and probably more than two. Canon may never use the terms "ace" or "aro", but MB makes it Very Clear what it thinks of relationships and relations, and how it wants None of that. You do have to get past the hurdle of "Oh great, another inhuman character portrayed as aroace", but 1) this time the inhuman character is the protagonist and 2) MB's personhood is a topic the narrative grapples with. Network Effect is Very Good, and System Collapse tackles a few of the implications around the whole "the robot character is coded as aro/ace/autistic" thing.
